Pretty sure the counter down-B isn't very widely used among Swordfighter mains; I've seen both other down-Bs used more often. Combine that with Swordfighter barely getting any usage to begin with and...yeah.

We don’t see that character get the spotlight for anything really

Counters and reflectors punish brainlessly throwing out hit boxes and predictability. On the flip side minus Sephi’s, calling out a counter rewards you with at minimum a smash attack so tossing em out all Willy nilly is going to get you killed. I’d say it’s a good thing unless you support brainlessly throwing out hitboxes or predictable gameplay.

@@dhans9662 The same thing can be achieved by almost any other move? You can Edge guard with a Lukas Pk Freeze, a Pyra Blazing end, Gannon’s down air spike? All because they know where you are going. The same as edge guarding with a counter you can’t “punish” those either do spikes ruin smash? Do you think all recoveries should be unchallengeable?

@@opbattleaxe8744 I know you did not just compare spikes to counters 💀 No I dont think edgeguarding shouldnt exist, I think it should require more skill and timing to preform than pressing a single button that gives you a 30 frame window to work. The difference between getting spiked and using a counter to edgeguard is that spikes usually have a 2 frame window to work and you risk yourself getting hit and losing to a reversal. Counters? Theres no risk at all. None. Lucas' PK freeze will only work for a few frames meaning you can just wait for it to detonate and then recover. Pyras Side B will send you at a vertical angle (especially when using the correct DI) which makes it EASIER to recover. Ganons spike i already said. None of them can compare to the lack of skill required to run off the ledge and use counter.
