There's so much more to the Polaris Dawn mission than the headline first commercial spacewalk and this video summarises the mission briefing perfectly.
Ellie, you're one of the best at compiling all the pertinent information and presenting in a way which is easy to follow. You are very gifted at reporting a story with lots of information, and yet, not "information overload!" Great job again!!!
Wow, thank you! Not everyone has an hour and a half to listen to the presentation so I’m glad you liked my condensed version! In tv news I usually had less than 2 min to tell a story 😂
Probably one of the brightest, smartest and most diversely gifted spaceflight crews ever to fly on a mission! Also, one of the best looking crews ever to fly on one mission! I believe this flight has the potential to be iconic in spaceflight history. We'll see........
The Polaris Dawn mission will be an medical, as well as an Experimental, and adventure experience for the PD crew.. If all goes well, the difference between a IVA suit and an EVA, will be hooking up a life support backpack.
Thanks for packing lots of interesting information into a short video; I'm really looking forward to the launch, and hoping for Monday as it would fly on my birthday! Great content 👍
Awesome video Ellie. Thank you for an excellent report. I'm very excited about this mission. One that will break records and make history. This brave crew will further mankind in our journey to infinity and beyond. Thank you SpaceX and the crew for this momentous gift 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
I do not think so , coz commercial companies seek only financial gain. USA moon program was consuming 6% of the whole country GDP per year. For comparison current NASA budget is 0.3% of GDP.
Super hyped that this mission is going to be very successful. Big steps forward towards human space exploration. Its a pity the baton was dropped after Apollo missions fifty years ago. Where could we be now if human space exploration was prioritised back then. Go Polaris Dawn!!
I wondered how they were going to test the spacesuits when the Dragon Capsule doesn't have an airlock - wow depressurizing the entire capsule for 2 hours - that's quite a thing!
Eventually, we will need to launch just regular people, otherwise only the elite will get to Mars. How many PhD people will know how to get their hands dirty and pour concrete for housing? That's just one example of the myriad of jobs that "normal" people do every day to make it possible for these elites to fly now.
From Europe. Would definitely be up for your nightime coverage. Only got u tube tho' so please please post live to UT if you possibly can. Polaris Dawn has a great air of adventure as well as constructive science. Those crew members must be hyper intelligent as well as very fit and technically competent. What a Mixture -makes one pretty envious 😅
Agreed. IMO, "Dawn III" gets changed to a Dragon mission and "Dawn IV" gets added as the first Starship mission with Astros. In LATE 2027. Starship will probably need a minimum of 100-200 flights before they'll be confident launching humans.
First human starship flight better be SOON. They’re supposed to get us to the moon in 2-3 years 😂 Also I hope they send you or Tim from Everyday Astronaut. It’d get people excited about space!
Just a perception and a good question, When the astronauts arrived on Starliner they were elated to be abord the ISS , this was not just for goofy show this was because their maneuver to get docked just saved their lives. Scary not Silly I really admire these astronauts for the risk taken. Yes they made it and now the Questions should be asked???
Sunni and Butch stranded on the ISS and Polaris Dawn, with four seats...flies 4 loads of ballast, when NASA should have arranged with Space-X to get PD to the ISS for a return flight. Yeah, a great accomplishment.
manned starship mission. may be closer than we think. that weird header tank and it's collar which attaches to isolated the nose cone looks like it has holes for hatches to an airlock leading to a outer hatch at the very tip of the starship.
Crewed starship missions will be tough at first since it doesn't have a normal flight abort system. I wonder if they could launch starship first, then launch the crew on Dragon. Connect in LEO, then on to the Moon and beyond.
