Well done Cliftonville the Reds Been shouting for you since 85 when i worked in Belfast for a while. I remember 98 when you won the league.. proud of you lads . Love from Waterford
You really captured not just Irish Cup final day, but the level of the atmosphere, history of Northern Irish football, Belfast, and immersive footage throughout. Really enjoyed this, thank you. From a Glentoran fan!
Despite the attempt at Old Firm parallels, Linfield's main rivals are not Cliftonville but Glentoran and Cliftonville's are North Belfast neighbours Crusaders. Cliftonville, Ireland's oldest football club have only had an association with the Nationalist community since the late 70's and that due to demographic changes where they're located wrought by the Troubles. With the demise of Belfast Celtic, Nationalist football fans in the city had for a good few decades no club to call their own though some of Celtic's former fanbase may have gravitated to Distillery and to a much lesser extent Glentoran for brief periods. Distillery had their successes then and main challengers to the new big 2 of Linfield and Glentoran. The adoption of Cliftonville along with changing demographics coincided with them dropping their long held amateur status and subsequent transformation on the field that was getting them results and becoming a force to be reckoned with, winning hordes of new fans from Nationalist areas in Belfast and beyond. Culminated in their lifting of the Irish Cup in 1979, the last time they won the trophy until this year. Cliftonville though having a largely Nationalist identity coming up on half a century, have been and very much are open to all persuasions as a club.
@@theinfernomaster8826 There is a section of the Cliftonville support and teams with mainly Unionist fans have them too who turn up for the big games against each other and are intent on recreating the toxic sectarian aspect of the Old Firm derby. They are the bane of the regular decent Cliftonville fans who aren't unaccustomed to shouting down their more visceral chants and have been ascribed the moniker of 'Windsor Reds'.
Mate you did an absolutely class job here. Talked to both sets of fans, understood the background, and felt the passion of each team as if you were a fan. I could feel the atmosphere through the screen. Keep it up man 👍
It's bullshit talkimg about sectiaranism between the fans of our two clubs, our clubs have worked together for years and things are improving masively. Congrats Cliftonville, long overdue win.
Quality Blair!.... fantastic coverage of the Irish Cup Final 🏆 Thanks for promoting Irish football, both north & south. One of the greatest games I've ever experienced over decades, and I've seen my fair share!! You Red ❤️☘️
Thanks for doing that vlog Blair, one of your best, what a display of passion from the fans and total commitment from the players. What a match to witness! You reds you reds you reds!
Absolutely fabulous vlog Blair. Brilliant content and your passion for football amazing. Love these games you cover. A big career in media / commentary awaits you. Congratulations Cliftonville ❤
Thank you for this video which people can relate to. It has been done with much thought, and that vital ingredient...honesty. Great stuff, and we hope you carry on. Great work...well done.
I feel sorry for you lad if you have to use sectarian crap then you must be a bigot and that goes for all bigots in Irish football do everybody a favour and disappear you wouldn't know if a ball was blew up or stuffed congratulations to cliftonville by the way who if you're a real football fan could begrudge them their moment of glory after 45 years of hurt.
That was a Brilliant video Blair. What an Atmosphere... The Passion is Real. History was made... And you missed a Goal. 😯. That bit where you got a fright 🤣🤣🤣
Great report mate and you sure did a good job of promoting the local game. I bet you are kicking yourself that you missed Hale's wonder strike though. #YouRed #RedArmy
What a fantastic video! The video of the year so far! Congratulations!!!! Who needs Sky or BBC when we have Blair!⚽️⚽️⚽️ Great to see true football fans from both sides!
Great stuff again Blair , you really got the atmosphere there and maybe too close for comfort at one point. I hope your voice has recovered. Well done.👍
Nice yin Blair, yer camera work is excellent plus when the last goal went in and yer in aboot the team celebrations((BOOM)) That banger livened it up fur ye😂 ye shat yersel(nae wonder) Brilliant Bro.. Blair yer work is and continues to be tops...🤩
Blair, I love your videos. They are class and make me smile. 11:14 in 2018 they bowed down instead of singing the National Anthem. The score last Saturday was the score that happened in the 2018 Cup final.
One of ur best yet mate unbelievable scenes, 24.44 smoke bomb blair 💩💩 his pants just topped it off, congrats cliftonville beating that sure on there home patch
Ye should get over to Galicia in northern Spain mate , deportivo la Coruna v barca athletic , if deportivo win they are up !!! They are in the equivalent Spanish 3rd division , in 2000 they won la liga , regularly played in champions league , they’ve had some excellent players over the years . Mind you the Riazor stadium is a 32000 sell out for that match . Keep up the good work pal
Excellent Blair, well done for calling it perfect at 16:20, good man, as a Blue they bottled it, again!, well done Reds. HAHAAHAHA 'moment for the history books'?? .... you shitting yourself when banger goes off hahahahaha
Great Video well done you, Huge Congratulations to Cliftonville overcoming so much yet still winning the cup! Scandalous that linfield never have to play an AWAY cup final Disgusting that the Referee done his best to make sure linfield could kick their way through the game yet still end up with a full quota on the pitch
Linfield have always had the odds in the Northern Ireland game stacked in their favour. It wasn't that long ago where they ended up having extra home games against Cliftonville. The police thought it was too much of a security risk Linfield fans having to go to Solitude. Glentoran are just as Protestant and Unionist in their fanbase make up as Linfield but no special provision was made for them. They never even considered home games against Linfield being played down the road at the neutral venue of Crusaders Seaview ground and they all got switched to Windsor Park. A new national stadium for Northern Ireland should have been built instead of renovating Windsor but the fact is at present, there are no other suitable venues for hosting the Irish Cup final. The Oval is a proper dump these days with a very limited crowd capacity. The same can be said about all other football stadia in the province. Glenavon's Mourneview and Seaview are o.k. just about but far too small to host matches of the cup final stature and especially where the bigger sides are involved.
Great footage, and great instincts especially after the last goal. Overplaying the sectarian hatred angle a bit, it's there in a few and there are a lot of hangers on, but it's not like the old days. We're not either team's main rivals either.
Would probably describe it more as a republican v unionist rivalry than a religious one. That goes for the occupied north & troubles In general as a whole, considering guys like Wolfe tone and many other members of the republican movement over the years were Protestants. The brits paint it as a religious divide as the majority of the U.K. is and was Protestant, it garnered support for their occupation of Ireland. Nothing to do with religion. Many great republicans as I say were Protestants. Listen to the Irish republican song “here’s to those brave who Protestant men”
