I lived in Texas most my life before I moved and we had bob cats so much the local police department got tired of calls saying someone heard screaming outside or somewhere in the woods, in the summer we have armadillos digging holes everywhere
In the southwest we have a scary story about a woman who's kids drowned in the river(whatever the closest river or dry creek beds name is) and she wanders the river banks screaming for them. I speculate that story is a misunderstanding of the cats or a tale to keep the kids away from the rivers/dry creek beds in case of flash floods. The tale would have added the screaming part knowing it would be heard in these areas as it's typically where mountain lions and bobcats are found here at least in the cold season and during monsoons. The cold and storms drive their prey from the higher elevations and they follow.
im a choctaw, and we didnt come up with skin walkers but my specific ancestors just so happen to live somewhere that had bobcats running all over the place due to them migrating over there for the season. well, i lived in that area as a kid and learned from my grandparents that bobcats are in fact the reason skinwalker stories exist
Good advice is if you hear screaming listen for one thing. Is the thing screaming saying words? Human call for help If just screaming, leave it the fuck alone and LEAVE
So I kinda heard screaming last night and it stopped I don't know if it a bob cat but uh yea I didn't think it was a big of a deal I thought it was something else🥲
@DR.CHILL-DOG I was being sarcastic . I'm an old country farm boy , I been in the woods more than most on this RU-vid bullshit ..... And I never seen or heard any evidence of the make believe bullshit creature called Bigfoot ✔️👌
At the age of 12, I was hunting for amphibians at an old nearly dried cow pond in the middle of nowhere. Near dark by myself, and I hear what I thought was a woman screaming. Scared me stiff. I said In a scared voice” hello” and the scream continues. It sounded really close and all I could see was tall grass. I thought it was a ghost and my fat little ass took off like a rocket. There was barbwire fencing and I could crawl underneath. I was running and dove head first into the barbwire but luckily missed the barbs. Lol. Boing. I crawled under, left my bucket and ran back faster than a cheetah. Didn’t stop till I got back to my grandparents house. Felt like I ran down a 30 foot hillside in 3-4 long strides lol. I usually took my time down that hill but not that day. It was time to haul ass, before the ghost of a murdered woman came to snatch me away. 🤣 nope. That’s the sound I heard. A dern bobcat wailing away, foiled my plans
My apartment is next to a small woods and behind the woods is the interstate. I usually hear the traffic going by behind the forest but I remember 2 weeks after moving in I woke up to the sound of blood curdling screaming and was terrified. The following week I heard what sounded like two middle age ladies crying and saw 2 bobcats fighting in the parking lot. Those things make the most terrifying sounds.
@@raptorsquad2223 but, wouldn't it disguise itself as something not scary? if it wanted to lure people in? who would want to go in the woods if they heard that?
You need to come to my house in KY, I'm covered up with them. I just ran down in the woods twice this week thinking it was one of my cats in trouble. I got pretty deep into the woods and realized thats not my cat. When i got back to the yard my cats were all sitting there looking at me like wth was that
I just heard this the other night. The whole house was asleep, and I thought a woman was outside screaming! Didn't even occur to me that it was a bobcat, even though they are all around us.
I live out in the country with just one neighbor and woods, I usually chill in the garage working on stuff snd the first night tonight I hear that exact same sound, freaked me out bad for just a second and then I rationalized it and figured that’s what it was. Scary stuff.
What’s great is seeing one on a thermal scope at night screaming like this, then putting a 62 grain ballistic tip .223 round through it. Stops screaming right away.
one of these lives in the woods down from my house & does this every night around midnight & it’s quite talented. like my dog doesn’t ever go down that way past a certain time…and i didn’t tell her she couldn’t.
Im in SE Ohio and I heard this when I took my dog out the other night... It was surely in my woodline somewhere... Crazy because I live in the city....
I was looking this up because I know they're in my area and I heard something last night and this sounds exactly what I heard naught but twenty feet over the fence from where I was standing. That is really awesome to know.
Sitting outside on the patio with my husband tonight, Vchatting with a friend, and we heard this sound from behind our fence maybe 30 feet away. It sounded like it was 2 feet in front of us. My heart rate jumped super high, and my skin was rippled with goosebumps
First time I heard a bobcat scream it made me cry. I thought someone was being hurt. These and red fox screams are scary af when it’s a night and you have no clue what it is.
So, ladies, if you ever get attacked in the forest, instead of screaming like you'd normally do, think of something different so as to be recognized and saved and not confused for a bobcat🤣
All I'm going to say is ohhhhhhh boy!!! 😳 This has confirmed some suspicions I had about a stray cat I was raising. It was indeed a bobcat!! 😮 This was years ago btw.
We were in the woods with my brother hunting then heard this near us and we were litteraly was about to have a heart attack and it was not like a woman scream it was so scary idk how to explain that shit but all i know is my brother stopped thinking smart and emptied a fricking mag at that location and we said "yeah thats it for today"
