I mean it was a closed fist eye poke and holding shorts isn't a foul that's on the reff. The eye was hit with the knuckle and ya the shorts grabbing was kinda dirty but it's not like he bit him or hit him low. Grabbing happens in boxing and it's on the reff to break it up

Ya but the ref didn't step in between them for the stoppage he was behind Melvin, so Riggs saw that it was about to get stopped but Melvin had no idea in that split second. The shorts tho that was bad.

@@raekwondon7009 I don’t know the rules, but surely the punch still doesn’t count. I agree it’s understandable he hadn’t yet heard/reacted to the call yet. But the call was still made before the punch was thrown so it must not count. Surely??

@@andydouglass1374 The ref is clearly on the clock working during a BKFC event for BKFC. That's not to say he only refs BKFC. He obviously refs other combat sports as well. If the ref thinks throwing a punch while pulling on shorts is legal than maybe he shouldn't be a ref. Of course that's my amateur opinion

He's a cool guy in real life too. My buddy used to be his manager. We used to go to Native New Yorker and Tilted Kilt (his sponsors) and get everything comped. We'd watch the fights. He would just be relaxing and people in the restaurant would staring at him, lol! Afterwards he'd sign autographs and take pictures. He was always nice to his fans. I wish he could have gone farther in the UFC. Dude is a freak of nature....he's got the biggest fists I've ever seen. Lol

The look on Lombards face when they announced the winner should tell you everything you need to know about BKFC... he knew the second they announced his name it wasn't deserved. I swear for every good fight I watch there's an equally bad one to match it. Sad cause this could've been one of the good ones, Riggs got robbed.

I agree it was a punch that did the damage, but any punch landed after a red calls break is not, and has never been, considered a legal punch. A fighter cannot win by knocking out a fighter 1 second after the bell rings or after a break has been called. If that knocked out fighter cannot continue, depending how many rounds are completed, it either goes to the judges score cards, is ruled a no contest, or there is a disqualification due to an illegal blow. Even if Riggs DID want out, this should have gone to the judges cards, been ruled a no contest due to a fighter being unable to continue due to an illegal strike, or been a DQ of Lombard. Again, those are, and have always been, the rules.

Pulling on his boxing shorts might have been a penalisable offence but not disqualification. Lombard's punch was in process, very difficult to stop. Riggs complained about a finger poke and on that the ref said it was a legal punch. Riggs thought Lombard would be disqualified and decided not to continue, but lost. The fact that he claims that he could not see through his right eye might be true, but in my opinion he pulled a soccer player stunt. They were pretty even all the way. Riggs looked the better fighter, but I think he gambled and it did not pay off. Both good fighters.

Ok, so it’s illegal to grab the shorts? Oh, unless the ref steps in and yells “stop” grabbing the shorts, that way that the guy that is in the shorts that are being grabbed can put his hands down, to allow the shorts grabber to continue to pull the shorts towards the free punch that he got to throw and land after the ref yelled “stop”? Then it becomes a TKO victory for the shorts grabber. It makes perfect sense from a rules standpoint
