I wanted to say the same thing. I never touch them, just use needle nose pliers to clear the hook. Trout are certain to die.

Is that the same for other fish? I had a hell of a time hanging onto a jackfish not long ago because it was so slippery. I thought it was because the lake was dirty.

@@4thfrom7 I'm not exactly sure to be honest, but this is a big no-no amongst fishermen in Idaho. Never touch a trout with dry hands. Around here it's almost as bad as holding a sturgeon out of water.

I grew up in a family like that, 3 girls no brothers. But at some point my mom and sisters didn't want to go camping or fishing anymore, so it was just me and my Dad. We even went camping when i was in college. But I married a jerk who wanted a mint on his pillow. So to expose my kids to nature I had to get them into extra curricular activities where they could go camping. My daughter every summer with a church youth group, not the roughing it that I grew up with, but something. And my son into Boy Scouts, where I was finally able to go camping again myself. He aged out right about the time they got weird. But i was able to go backpacking the highest mountain in the lower 48 with him, and loved it. Sometimes families drift apart, relationships take work, and talking, and seems like many people are just too lazy to work at it.

I know what it was like to have an absent father. The trick to life is to not perpetuate the problem, and to vow to show them how it's done. Best

@Dani I got back together with my first love after 20 years. We kept in touch a bit. Anyway, she ended up separating from her husband and we got back together. She had beatiful 11 and 7yo. kids. I treated them like my own( I never had kids) made up games, played catch, tucked them in, etc. I was folding laundry and her daughter walked in, she didn't think I saw her, she puts her arm up extends her fingers and says, "I wish you were my Dad." That was the most special thing anyone adult or child has ever said to me. The point is, their Dad saw them on the weekends. He drank in the evening, and I don't think he played with his own kids. So sad. But it let me know I would have been a great Dad.

They had all the warning signs 25 years ago but californian failed to do anything in hopes what i expect not siphoning revenue away. It’s an issue that had all the warning signs and countless discussions on. Look at the downlake usage and cost of water for each user = the problem.

@@oak8728 It’s such an inefficient system, too! They’ve had so much warning! I live in Vancouver BC, and the population has skyrocketed. There’s a brand new filtration system on the rivers coming out of the watershed. 25 years ago they closed the entire valley to the public, to protect the water. People grumbled at first, but there are still LOTS of hiking trails to satisfy. Looking ahead- Americans live in the moment, they want instant gratification, and things are out of sight out of mind.

That's super terrifying. 3 years ago in Northern AZ an entire family was in camp verde a a day use place called . Bear Creek Prescott National Forrest day use area. There was a mild Creek that led to a deep swimming hole that had several rock cliff at different heights to jump from as well as trees with rope swings that you could grab, swing, then jump of intra large 40 deep swimming hole. There was even a a sadly beach entry starting at a foot then gradually dropping off to the deep part swimmers and kiddos with floating, tunes, or life jackets could safely toddle or swim in the water. Assume flash flood hit with no warning 9 members of the family grand parents, parents, kiddos, and cousins were washed downstream in a raging torrent in seconds. There was no warning so the were not prepared. It took almost 3 weeks to locate the remains of all of them. 3 generations of their family was gone in seconds it was beyond tragic. I used to go there with my kiddos and my Dad each summer to enjoy the water like many other families. I have not returned since that event and doubt I ever will.
