The name of the drum group is called Crazy Horse. They are from the community of Oglala on the Pine Ridge Sioux (Lakota) Indian Reservation. Most of them are the sons Chris Eagle Hawk, Sr. (Lakota) and his wife Joyce, who is actually from Taos Pueblo in New Mexico. They are a good family. Chris ' son Charlie EH was the "drum keeper" for many years but he passed a couple years ago. His brother Chris Jr. aka "Gabe" told me a couple months ago. Smh. I've known the family for years and sang with them on a number of occasions. As for the original Txashunke Witkó (Crazy Horse), many assume he was half Oglala and half Sicháŋǧu (Brulé - "Burnt Thighs or Rosebud Sioux"), but this is not totally correct. In fact, she was his close family member. When CH was four years his father Waglúla ("Worm") took other wives. Apparently Rattle Blanket Woman hung herself. 💔😔 Worm married two of Brulé Chief Spotted Tail's sisters. Since they adopted CH and raised him they became his "mothers", so CH is generally listed as half Rosebud Sioux, but but not by blood. His father had some Oglala connection. He was actually Wajáje, no longer in existence as a band but they were connected to both the Oglala and Mnihwóju tribes of Lakota. Ok, I don't wanna confuse anyone. Lol. The drum group that
@@chucktwofingers crazy horse drum group started in oyuphe, with traditional song teaching and blessings from the elders of our community, my Father Leroy Looks Twice Sr. started with a few others, so originally the drum name and the drum come from oyuphe, crazy horse is buried in white horse creek, my grandfather black tail deer used to watch over crazy horses grave, but that knowledge died with him, now the drum and the name made it back to my Looks Twice family.
