From a Millwall fan .. Great game for Wednesday gets em outta bottom 3 and well deserved victory, and to be honest one of the best away followings I think these is .. behind Millwall of Course .. 🦁🤣... Well Done Owls..you could pull off the Great escape...🙏👌 Good luck ...
Wednesday have always had a huge away following. Remember in 1976-7 they took 4,000 to Reading for a Division 3 match-this was a time when few away fans travelled any distance AND-far more telling about Wednesday's support-they hadn't won away in the league for over a year and had barely avoided relegation to the fourth division the season before. To bring 4000 was jaw dropping. (and they won 1-0!)
As a Hudds Town fan I went to watch the Owls who were then in the old D3 play Arsenal in the FA Cup,they drew1 all, they played 3 replays, all draws,me and my mates went to Leicester to watch the 4th replay which Arsenal won 2 nil, there were estimated to be over 25000 Owls fans there in a crowd of under 40000,absolutely fantastic support, they deserve to stay up.
@@TOPSPANKER57 It was awesome support-as I say, even more awesome when you comsider Wednesday hadn't won away for over a year, had narrowly missed relegation to the Fourth Division the year before and the Motor Ways weren't what they are today for easy travel North-South . The other huge memory I have of that game-wonder if Wednesdayites remember it (in anger!!) was when Chris Turner -Wednesdays teenage keeper-collected a back pass, Reading's Robin Friday went up to him, gave him a head butt and gobbed in his face! Wednesday fans were outraged,Reading fans could have killed Friday as they were trying to keep a low profile amongst the huge Wednesday following!! Friday had so much talent-if he had kept his excesses down to the levels of Stan Bowles Alan Hudson or Frank Worthington he might have been as maverick great as they were, but he was way OTT on even them! Never forgot that game in October 1976 when Wednesday came to town! That club, that support is top tier.Bewildered me why they were down that far,but I suppose a clue back then was Marti Caine (a Wednesday celeb fan) saying it cost here a fortune to keep giving them after eight mints (I think there was a couple of infamous 8-0 games at that time! A good football memory no matter what. No club matched Wednesdays support at Reading from that day to this.
I was there as a 7 year old with my late father, I believe we were late in due to the coach setting fire (nobody hurt), we were then provided with an old style London bus to transport us in .. for a seven year old it was scary but also memorable UTO
@@Lennoneditz2012 There were a lot of coaches there that day!! Reading got relegated that season, but went up a few seasons later and lost 2-0 at Elm Park to Wednesday who got promoted that year under Jack Charlton-it was a mid week game,I couldn't make it for some reason, but I did see a Wednesday player at Elm Park that season;the England youth squad played and Wednesday's Mark Smith played (defender I think). Wasn't until a few years ago I saw Wednesday play Reading at the Madejski-Wednesday won 3-1. I should rent myself out to Wednesday;they are guaranteed to win when I'm there!
What a win! Amazing turnout too from the Wednesdayites! No surprise there. Great goal from Windass and a great performance. West Brom is a game I worry about and Sunderland not sure what I think. It’s amazing to be out of the bottom three! Up the Owls
My dads a Wednesday fan so I’ve always loved Wednesday even though I’m spurs fan. Always great away fans whenever Ive been. The premier league need to increase away allocations to get atmospheres back only way
Great video as usual, Harry, from being down and out, last week, I'm on cloud 9, we've given a self a great chance now, just praying we get it over the line, the miracle is on,
Thanks for that video. Put it together so quick. Captured all the important bits. Good game to be at. Hope we can get the job done now and build on this one. Hopefully both SWFC and BRFC will be playing in the Championship next season. UTO!
I'm not a Blade or Owl, I'm a Bantam, but I'm at Hillsborough for the home games. I'm relishing (Hendo's), for a Steel city derby. It's happening, and it'll be awesome 👍
Well as a blade i never thought I would say this in my 58 years that I hope Wednesday stay up ! I hope on the flip side Leeds don't get Promoted and I'm gutted Rotherham are down.. having said that our current squad don't even look like Championship level let alone PL level utterly embarrassing worst squad I've seen at The lane since going to my first game at 10 years old back in 1975 . But Good luck Wednesday it will be down to wire probably.
12:14 "I missed it" So did Mr Pears 🍐 😊Thanks for a great insight looking at the away end. Vorsprung durch Röhl 🇩🇪 Progress through Roehl 🏴 UTO 🦉
As an Hudds. Town fan,I reckonwe are down even if we win next week,I hope that the Owls stay up,I reckon they will beat Sunderland last game as the Wearsiders are crap at home and can't buy a home win ,good luck I hope you do it.
Phenomenal support! FairPlay to youz owls ! U deserve to stay up because of your fight spirit and heart! This is coming from a blue nose ‘ we’re the complete opposite and will go Down! 😬🤦♂️
I like how you put a bit of history into it, 1993, 4 goals in 20 minutes 👍 7K away is reet good. UTO, Windass goal was ace! Great weekend for me with the sports I follow. The Bantams can still make the playoffs, and Lando Norris is the best that ain't in a Redbull. Hopefully Brom will take heed and let Brum take a hit on Saturday 🫢
Sammie szmodics shushed our fans equalising at Hillsborough lost 3-1 again when he equalised he shushed our fans after the goal and they lost 3-1 again 😅
Great to see a scene like that being repeated all these years later. I mentioned the legendary 1993 match in my build-up piece, and today will have brought back some happy memories.
