Fireworks over Metro Manila on New Year's Eve, taken from the tallest building in the country. To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please contact me.
I find foreign people who comment about global warming exaggerated. You have to look first at how your country actually contribute to global carbon emission for the entire year. Philippines is not even close to 0.5%.
Misha Jacobs Those foreigners are idiots because when they look at someone’s country they assume we have the same culture traditions, economy, beliefs, rules, regulations etc that we all have the same problems and issues. Then they start to impose upon us. Just Don’t mind them
Everyone seems to compare Philippine's New Year celebrations to a war zone and this video is only seen from atop the building. It is much louder at the ground level and it's not advisable to walk or drive around the streets as they become mine fields of firecrackers of different shapes and sizes. It is a Filipino tradition that producing any kind of loud noise (whether fire crackers, honking the cars, hitting the pans, and blowing the horn pipe on New Years Eve would drive away the bad vibes of the old year to make way for good fortune and luck in the coming year.
I'm from Sydney and was also in Manila this NYE. I have a similar video on my profile as I was in the same building, it's taken from Gramercy in Makati. I was on level 53 but this video would've been taken from the bar on the roof (71 Gramercy). I just have to say that in my life I have never experienced anything like I did that night... All day leading up to midnight standing on the balcony there were explosions that would echo and bounce from one side of the city and carry to the other end. Once the clock got closer to midnight, I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone with bombs dropping 100s of times every second.. This video can't convey how truly awesome the show was. Sydeny loves to brag about its perfectly arranged 15 minute show which is of course stunning but can't compare to something like this.. A true celebration.
it is true sydney and london keep bragging that they have awesome fireworks display but for my own opinion since every year we celebrate this sydney and london combined was dwarf compare to this imagine the entire country is like this lol
Personally, I prefer to start my new year off with a passage from The God Delusion, but I can see how other people would take joy in festive lightings. Happy New Year, everybody!
Forget about well-arranged and explosive colors! Folks in the Philippines want to join in, that's the beauty of celebrating the new year! No arranged explosions can compare to this "war" of explosions!
In the philippines its legal to buy fireworks as a long as you follow the limit on how much fireworks you could buy.....oh wait i forgot there is no limit :P
we have a house located on a mountain town of antipolo about half an hour away from manila and we also have a third floor roof deck overlooking the skyline of the city and the nearby suburbs, every new year's eve since we have moved here since 2009 it has come into our tradition to look out for the fireworks display held everywhere at about 360 degree angle much like this one! and not to mention the fireworks are already held even at around two hours before midnight and gets even louder and more intense at twelve ! i was dreaming of spending my next new years eve in another cities like in sydney or in london or in hong kong...buuut nothing can compare some good o'l pinoy revelry :)
i came here just to read some comments and its overwhelming specially to the foreign people it seems they appreciate what we've done . and thats how filipinos celebrate new year ! Have a happy new year to all of you guys ! :))
this is just on the capital of the philippines..i hope NASA caught a video of the whole part of the country blinking with fireworks :D..it will be more likely a warzone lol
ang galing, ang ganda!!!super saya talaga panoorin,,each Filipino family enjoying from left to right spectacular fireworks!Ganya kasaya ang new year sa PilipinasGod Bless The Philippines!
I love to spent my New year and Christmas in Philippines! Because there is lots of fireworks and lots of fun in philippines during this time of the year! Unlike in overseas is so boring and not lots of fireworks like back home! I will definitely spent my New year eve and Christmas in Philippines this year! The food are also very tasty and very good value!
That's just how they celebrate new years in the Philippines. Citizens are allowed to buy fireworks, firecrackers and etc by themselves. They have the FREEDOM. I know that by spending my childhood in there, compare to other countries who doesn't have the freedom like that. People who doesn't like this just doesn't have the experience growing up and lonely during new years eve. If you have that freedom, you'll understand. LOL
Newsweek, titled its New Year story as: "Manila’s Fireworks Won New Year’s Eve." "Did your city hold a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve? Probably. Was it as good as Manila’s? Probably not," it further said.
I miss celebrating NYE in Metro Manila. I miss the "warzone" type of noise, lights, and explosion. Those people who are giving negative comments are the ones who have not yet experienced the NYE we have there :)
+Luke's HomeTube (LukesHomeTube) Fireworks has really meaning to us. We light fireworks every New Year's eve because to stay away the evil spirit and bad lucks in our house by making a lot noise.
I'm a filipino , it is our tradition to make noise nor use fireworks during new year because it is used to remove bad spirits in the year, to remove badluck and many more.
for the fact that its even louder and happier in the streets.. party over here and there loud music, drinking parties, food buffets, videoke and yes of course fireworks and firecrackers before they got banned. filipinos celebrate new year like its the last no one can compete specially back in the 90s.. and oh i forget to tell you guys that after the fireworks we party and drink till dawn here in philippines.
This is freaking awesome at its best.. Its like a war zone, an alien invasion where people fight for their lives in every street. This will put the 4th of July in America in shame.
The fireworks were awesome also on Angeles city, just north of Manila. Even by just observing from rooftop level. You see 360 panoramic degrees of bursts and explosions happening dozens of times per second near midnight and you visualize every person behind it. Whatever happens, our faith and hope can handle it!
ganyan kmeng mga Pinoy magcelebrate.. wag nyo kme pakelaman.. try nyo mag new year sa philippines magkakaalaman sa true happiness hindi parang amaze lang sa bonggang fireworks display sa isang central park o venue.. Magulo man sa inyo Sobrang Saya naman samen..
It's 2015 and I still see people commenting hate on the videos they are watching. An idea for you all haters, if you don't like something don't click on it and watch it. Unless you really have nothing better to do and would rather spend your precious time commenting on something you hate full of people who appreciate it. Hope you all have a pleasant year!
awesome!,My whole life, I've been celebrating New years Eve in the Philippines and it was damn fun! but this year I wasn't, my grandma brought us here in Canada. It's the first time in my life to eat turkey and drink wine while feeling lonely and bored on a New years eve..
Nostalgia strikes... Felt so happy seeing this grand barrage of lights... missing waking up with dirt on your nose hehehe... Happy New Year everyone- no haters please...
same here... been away from home and living abroad (all over) for more than 20 years, and this is what I miss. I remember, my first time celebrating the Holiday Seasons away from home, I cried seeing how empty and boring it was. Christmas and Year's Eve celebration in the Philippines is the best, there's nothing like home celebrations!
I can still remember watching in the News when JDAMS and Tomahawk Missiles hit targets during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was like, "Damn is this right in the middle of Baghdad? Talk about Shock and Awe".. Then I saw this... I was like no way.
FIREWORKS: It's more FUN in the Philippines :-) 90% are holding/using fireworks and everyone is awake. After the fireworks comes "MEDIA NOCHE" - each house celebrates a feast with: fruits, leche flan, lechon (roast pig), spaghetti, pansit (stir fried noodles), ham, pizza, lasagna, barbeque, etc....you name it ! :-)
What's really funny is most Filipinos are so used to this kind of thing yearly na parang wala nalang. Just surprised at the reactions of people from allover the world haha. New year's eve in the Philippines... It's chaotic and I love it!
Wow, that is pretty cool. It looks like every block of that city participated. Although, as much as I hate to kill the mood, I hope there are no war veterans with PTSD that are breaking down because of this. Honestly, I feel like that many simoultaneous pops and bangs for that long could do it :(
Oh men!! I taught we'll have a tone down celebration this year bcoz of several typhoons that visited the country late this year and government campaign against firecrackers plus it rains quite a bit but guess nothing can stop our tradition of greeting the new year with the loudest bang.. Happy New Year everyone!!!
This is why that all filipino is celebrating a new year!! Best celebrating new year! I've ever seen! Whoooo only!! In the philippines men! PHILIPPINES! ALL PILIPINO HAS ENJOYED TO CELEBRATING A NEW YEAR!
there's little regulations in terms of fireworks in the philippines, basically anyone can light up one, there are illegal fireworks out there but most of them still go thru the market. And not to mention the place this video was took isn't the most firework heavy in Manila, the smoke hides a lot of it but it still, a lot of fireworks going off at the same time, haven't experienced that kind of new year since 2007.
yep this is how we celebrate New Year in the Philippines, lots of fireworks! actually you guys should see what its like in the villages in Las Pinas, almost every house in one street are lighting up fireworks, it was so much fun! I was planning to upload a video as well, but this guy beat me to it.
as afr as what i can remember.....eversince my childhood.. we do this kinda LET IT ALL OUT WITH THE BANG!!! and im 46 yrs old now... so for the paat 45 yrs ...nothing compare a to my country in/on how we celebrate the new years!
Firecrackers and fireworks in general symbolizes a Chinese tradition that the sound made of it can sweep out any bad spirit or bad luck for a prosperous new year. Since the Philippines was influenced by many countries including China, we tend to adopt those practices and since became a part of our tradition.
360 degrees view and lots of fireworks also on the streets. It's awesome but I make it a point to get off the streets way before 12 midnight. Hospitals here prepare for new year like a military invasion or something. Before 12 strikes wounded people begin trekking in. It gets worse during and after. It's crazy.
There's no place like Manila.and entire Philippines every New Year's eve where everyplace was like a war zone, rhe fact that using firecrackers amd fireworks has been regulated in recent years that doesn't stop us Filipinos from celebrating
And thats just in Manila!!!!!! Wat this vid ddnt show is that its the entire Philippines had spectacular fireworks.... Just in my aunts neighborhood where i spent my new year, it was like each house/home had firework displays.... It was crazy yet fun
Here in Philippines Traditions is really followed . same as new year making loud sounds or bursting up some fireworks are believed to blow away bad lucks, bad spirits and bad memories and to meet a new life with a lucky life , happy life and a lucky year for us . FYI guys i have read all your comments in this video and some dislikes and amazed . pls. dont discriminate and judge badly on how we celebrate it . this really happens annually and never been changed .. thank you we accept your realizations and opinions about this thing.! have a prosperous new year Everyone!! :)
TRadition! This was taken in PBCom Towers 57floors ( Helipad ) for sure. I worked there for 2 years ! and had access to the top. Yes its the best place to drink beer,, hangout and now to see how exciting NYE in Manila. Big difference, anyone is welcome to light their own firecracker and do your own light show! THanks for posting and Mabuhay!
Manila’s Fireworks Won New Year’s Eve Did your city hold a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve? Probably. Was it as good as Manila’s? Probably not. Every New Year's Eve, millions of Filipinos across Metropolitan Manila light up the sky like a war zone with an unscripted yet authentic & simultaneous fireworks display. And for that fact, many people get injured. Not saying it wasn't beautiful - actually was pretty spectacular, 'ingenuine' or planned fireworks actually serve better for the wellbeing of the people in the area.
