Breathstealer is in my Nekusar deck. It's pretty great for people to pay 4 life for a creature card. If you wheel it gets really crazy for them. Malignant Growth is great in a deck with a proliferate theme. You can proliferate the growth counter and get a lot more bang for your buck.
I do love these videos, world enchantments provide such cool synergy while still being capable of doing something powerful, since they have repeatable effects. Evelyn the Covetous decks probably want Elemental Augury, so you have a little bit of a choice for what you are collecting.
I use Dovescape in my ink treader nephilim deck. it’s a deck where I have only 1 creature and try to make as many tokens as possible. It works really well because even though the spells I cast to target ink treader get countered, they still get copied for each token it could copy, so it protects my board will giving a token practically on each spell I play. I also have a convoluted combo in there where I have Cryptolith Rite and Roar of Resistance. If I have those enchantments out before I play dovescape, each time I cast an instant or sorcery, I create a bunch of tokens that tap for more mana the turn they come into play. Most of my spells are able to draw a bunch of cards, so realistically I can play my whole deck in one turn if everything falls into place
Wild timing on the Elemental Augury include. My mom’s recently gotten back into magic, but almost all her cards are 2001ish and back. Her commander is Crosis The Purger and she uses the augury to try to force people into drawing the same colours.
Breathstealer's Crypt would be a perfect include for a Lazav deck! I can't believe I've missed Elemental Augury for my Jeleva top card thievery deck. I'm going to add it in right now! Suleiman's legacy, maybe you could do a Jeskai deck that focuses on changing your opponent creature types (Unnatural Selection) and then hating on them? Malignant Growth is one of my favorite cards in my Xyris False Hug deck! Absolute slam dunk.
With Malignant Growth, it's interesting because the draw is based on the growth counters, but the upkeep is in age counters, so you could manipulate them to the deck's benefit. Like Power Conduit to remove the age counter, and proliferate to accerate the growth counters.
I have a deck that uses Suleiman's Legacy! It's 5-color Creature Type Manipulation, and I play several cards like this along with all of the things in blue that can change creature types. I choose the type on whatever "type hating" card I have in my hand with the blue cards and it's quite a hoot! I have a list on Archidekt but I'm not sure I can put links in here.
I used Aether Rift in a Gallia discard deck, you'd be surprised how many people ask to read the card or see it because they're surprised at what it does. Super fun. I also use Dovescape in a rule zero Godhead of Awe deck, there are plenty of "negative anthems" in blue to deal with the fliers.
Note that the keywords given by Nature’s Blessing are not “until end of turn.” The creature will keep that effect as long as it remains on the battlefield.
nature's blessing would be HUGE in my Thalia and the Gitrog Monster landfall/token deck. The banding is amazing and the discard of a land will 1)trigger multiple cards in the deck including original Gitrog Monster and 2) be easily played with my Crucible of Worlds effects... this is amazing
I have Malignant Growth in a Sultai deck that is built around forcing opponents to draw cards: Underworld Dreams, etc. Only problem is that it's only one target. After 4-5 turns though, the damage really builds. Then...Storm Seeker.
Malignant growth plus one card that can add one counter of any kind plus X. Infinite mana into the x give 10000 growth counters. Next turn they draw whole library?
For banding purpuse, nature's blessing is king of underwhelming when compared to " baton of morale" artefact for 2 - pay 2 colorlesz target creature get banding until end of turn
I use Dovescape in my Bruna Voltron. If Bruna hits the battlefield and I resolve Dovescape, the game is over unless somebody has a creature solution to a 50/50 commander with every keyword in the game.
Aether rith in a temur ebt deck would be insane. Goes in a deck where you are returning you own creatures to your hand. Returning to chock your hand full of creature and return that for that ebt Or of course a jund deckwhere you reanimate anyway.
I had malignant growth in Xyris but took it out. It was just too slow. Forced fruition was so much better. You really only play MG for the memes and aesthetic of old cards.
Bresthstealers' crypt is AMAZING! I use it in Damia the Sage stone. I don't care if people see what I have cause I pitched most cards. And cast em from my graveyard. Plus if I have necropotence out I ignore it. Friend plays it in Muldrotha too.
I run dovescape in my Hinata deck, the deck has a lot of X costs that target so with only a couple of those spells and dovescape you'll be drowning in bird tokens since often you can target every one of your opponents creatures.
I had Dovescape in my Bruna deck, I didn't care if my enchantments got countered, Bruna would just pull them back out. Makes it harder to remove her from the board.
For people looking for ideas, I currently use Breatstealer's Crypt in 2 decks. One them being the dimir Sygg, since that 3 life gives me a card, and the other one being an Esika deck that only has worldspine wurm and tries to fling it every turn, so this helps me both do damage and make sure I never end up with the wurm in my hand.
I see Aether Rift in Naya or Jund, with the third color focusing on reanimation. Dovescape can be a great set up card for creature-focused wincons, where you need the creature synergies to make one big effect. I use Brudiclad and Bramble Sovereign to do dumb stuff in my Kynaios and Tyro deck-Dovescape would work perfectly.
I could see Malignant Growth fitting in a deck with a proliferation engine so that you can increase the card draw faster than the cumulative upkeep cost.
16:00 you said that during each opponents draw step, when the card says during target opponents draw step. Was that a mistake, or did they change the rules on this card?
Hey demo, Long time follower/fan first time commenter, I was wondering do you ever build weird commander decks and share those techs? I have one that I would love help with... Yarok, the desecrated creature hate/punishment deck. I currently use things like Tainted Aether, Death Match, Spreading Plague, Portcullis, In Garruk's Wake, Polluted Bonds, Fade Away...
I use Dovescape in my Aragorn "They Told Me I Could Play Commander, So I Played All of Them" deck. I care not if my other noncreature spells get countered after it's out...I just want my cast bonuses anyway!
I run Dovescape in my Grand Arbiter Deck, alongside Things like Valkmira, Protectors Shield (Backside of Reidane), Leyline of Singularity and Azorius Skyguard. If you get the leyline out beforehand nobody can have more than one bird at a time and the Skyguard gives all creatures the opponents control -1/-0 making all noncreature spells essentially void.
Isnt breathstealer's crypt kind of a conditionnal Zur's weirding ? I used to play dovescape in my Allela enchantment deck where I played as many anthem as I could and then banked on the birds having +4/+4 (or more) I find very interesting that nature's blessing gives keywords indefinitly.
Breathstealer’s Crypt is very effective when you’re running a card like Necropotence, and just run cards that put cards in your hand instead of drawing them. Winter’s Night can be interesting because a decent percentage of players in Commander use snow lands. I thought the errata on Nature’s Blessing would put an ability counter on your target instead of an indefinite effect, but I was wrong.
I have a Yidris Enchantress deck that Elemental Augury might be perfect in. The ability is overcosted but topdeck manipulation on an enchantment is something that I didn't even know in could have.
Breathstealers's Crypt + Windfall = a "potential" 21 damage. 15 damage was the most dealt to a player. Wellspring is not effective as it use to be. The opponent will just tap the land. Unless you have a way to untap the land and use it before losing control.
I use Breathstealer's Crypt in my Sygg deck - hates on creatures, and if they pay, then I draw at end of turn. I run Dovescape in my Noyan Dar deck - his ability is an "on cast" trigger, so I still get it, and his colors let me run Taigam as well. 👍
The new Anikthea from the CMM precons is an enchantment creature thay cares about enchantments, so shes viable for Umori as a companion. Nature's Blessing is an enchantment that allows you to get those high mana value enchantments to your graveyard to cheat in with your commander while buffing her up
Breathstealer’s Crypt is good for Oskar, Rubbish Reclaimer. It lets you cast the creature from your graveyard at as soon as you discard it so with some top deck manipulation and instant speed card draw you can basically flash in creatures
Maybe put Aether Rift in a Raggadragga deck? Early on no one wants to lose 5 life for a mana dork, but late game they have to to stop you from killing them with said dorks
No, it’s not useless. Oracle text: Enchant land When Wellspring enters the battlefield, gain control of enchanted land until end of turn. At the beginning of your upkeep, untap enchanted land. You gain control of that land until end of turn.
Combine Aether Rift with Evolutionary Leap in a tokens deck that only has haymakers. If you slot it in with Slimefoot and Squee you've got other ways to pull those out of the graveyard. Dovescape sounds like an interesting finisher in a Hinata, Dawn Crowned deck where all your X spells suddenly have a bazillion targets so for 4 mana you suddenly go from like 4 creatures on the board to target to like 79 creatures (assuming you have 4 X spells with a single pip that can target creatures)
I know control isn't the popular type of deck in the format, but I was Jace the Mind Sculptor'd enough in standard to know that Elemental Augury constantly burying my good cards and leaving garbage on top could be a really really good control effect. This is a little different because it doesn't go to the bottom, and is 3 cards deep enough for Commander? Not sure, but it's definitely intriguing.
Love these types of videos! Definitely going to be giving that Nature's Blessing card a go in my Kathril voltron deck - perfect way to get some extra keywords/power on it whilst also filling up the graveyard! Plus banding is fun (wish they'd bring it back and just explain it simply as "the banded creatures' controller chooses how damage is assigned amongst the band").
Taigam Oujutai master is good with Dovescape it's an obvious choice but interestingly Taigam sidisi's hand actually works really well with Breathstealers crypt, I used to run it along side Zur's weirding and other effects that mess people up when they draw because you don't draw in that deck if Taigam is on the field.
I play Winter's Night in my Omnath Locus of All snow deck. Its amazing when you can get Jorn, God of Winter, Seedborn Muse or Wilderness Reclamation. Then bank all the mana with Omnath for whenever.
I’m not currently running it in a deck, but my favorite use for dovescape is a janky combo with Guile, where once someone cast a non creature spell, you can infinitely cast it and create infinite birds
