The crowd was great. I hate when an artist is trying to play really quiet and build and jackasses are whistling and screaming. Ruins the shit. Not here.👍
Nate's a fav too! So hard to pick a fav fav though - Marcus Gilmore is amazing and i just learned about Makaya McCraven, younger but man. drummers are the heart of any band. I love it when drummers are so creative the band takes the bench for a minute haha
Although I've had a couple of Mackaya's tracks on my playlists, I really only discovered who he is a couple of weeks ago. His newest release is out of this world phenomenal! That being said, Nate is my drum hero. I have a hard time seeing anyone usurp that place in my mind and heart, although I can absolutely love and appreciate the genius of other drummers and composers too. =)
Never seen this guy before. I think what I like is the simplicity in using the rim. A 'modern' drum solo would be similar hits but just moved around and it makes it harder to distinguish the accents and patterns, but you can every hit it so clearly on the rim. He could do all that and disperse it through other toms and cymbals, but it wouldn't make it any more or less difficult. This man has awesome stick control and I enjoyed listening:)
Wow!! Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!! The Italians have a saying but I'll translate, to do a lot with a little!! There was a whole lot of sound. There was a whole lot of creativity. There was a whole lot of feel and emotional content in everything that he played. So with a hi-hat snare drum bass drum and maybe some percussion instrumentation I must say it is one of the most enjoyable musical moments that I have seen. Miracles and blessings to you always!! Keep your chops up my brother 🙏❤️🥁
My friend and mentor! Nate has played on some tracks for me back in the day and we also played keys together for D Folks!!! He also wrote horn lines for Tha Zone for Freak D back in 97! RVA!!!!!!
This is why I have a "nate smith" Playlist separate from my "drumming" Playlist lol. Nate is my favorite drummer, he's like a wizard on the drums it's so amazing how he stretches and messes around w/time signatures and grooves that almost sound impossible sometimes, and while always staying perfectly in the pocket. His drumming is supernatural almost
Some delusional drummers in these comments. To whichever drummer wrote "give me some time" and you could learn all the licks: How much time you need just to cop the combinations in between the 3:00 and 4:00 mark? I'll spot ya five years. As for Neil, I bet he'd be the first to tell you Nate's finesse is on a whole different level.
He’s a monster. Totally cool. I dig the three piece set up and he says a lot with it. Obviously a major player. And I like the band as a whole, but I have to say you only need to hear about two of their songs to get their entire thing. To me it sounds like everything they do is just the same song. There’s very little variation.
Thanks for all your comments guys! I hope you learned something from this mastermind of a drummer🔥 I have some other video’s of him as well, make sure to head over to my channel and check them out!
It was ok now a drum solo to me I mean he’s a bad ass groover but you want a drum solo a working put together drum solo listen to Buddy Rich or Neil pearts drum solos You will never see solos like that again
@@jackytoppie5561 well, yeah. I´m a drummer and I couldnt see much in that tbh, give me some time and I can definitely play the whole thing I like to watch crazy drumming, which I watch in disgrace and say to myself: "I could never perform this"
@@jackytoppie5561 something like this, or other stuff from them, and many other drummers like Chris Coleman ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zrcFQKyBkFI.html
@@Ricardo-ki1qq You cant be a very good drummer if you cant recognise that you'll never be able to actually play anything that nate plays. Theres a big difference between hitting the right drums/cymbals on the right notes, and hitting the groove correctly.
