I tried the D4 demo back in March '23 and while it had some promising ways, it also felt like something wasn't entirely right. I did play D3 thanks to my mom who wanted some couch co-op games on the PS4 I gave her (got my PS5 in April last year and she wanted the former console). D2Rez is a game that I'll always keep a spot in my heart since I grew up with D1 and 2. Ended up buying the Switch port for some Diablo 2 on the go on top of the Sony version since I have a friend who also bought it on that platform for some multiplayer
Ever played median XL? Sure it don't have the D2R graphs but everything else is better. Better itemization, wayyy better end game, way more build variety and way better quality of life!
tbh the item system was revolutionary with all the affixes and so on and so forth the game itself is heavily flawed though melee is just useless and some skills are straight up broken thats why you only see like 5 different builds in most games

Gold wrap belt for MF aldur boots for fire res and run walk. I have a cta on swap but rarely use it as it's a low roll on BO. lightning sunder charm gheeds charm Anni charm no torch yet offline a couple skill charms and some mana life grand charms and I fill the rest of the space with res and mf small charms. On the vipermagi you can use a face for more damage or put an ort rune for light res if you come up short.
I know this isnt meant as a leveling build but i did it anyway. Nm A5 is rough with 190 hp and low ranks in energy shield....at what point does it become "tanky"?

So really the big difference for the Infinity nova sorc which has been my main Char for like over a year now which the clear speed is faster than anything I have come across is the healing and curse removal factor from your companion yeah?
I built this but found it hard to do damage in hell. I had no skill charms so it was rough with only around +8 to skill with gear. I respec to blizz and can actually kill stuff easier. I miss the full screen static though! Makes group play faster! It's a fun build very fast paced play style. I can't wait to respec back!
Maybe I missed this, but I don’t believe you explained why the self wield infinity is better than merc wielding it and sorc holding normal wep + spirit. Is it because conviction applies quicker or something?
@@ateenschen1577 i wonder if crescent moon + spirit (-35% Lres + 2 skills) + Infinity on merc would be better than self wield infinity with -55%? since you don't just get plus skills but also other vastly good bonus with equipping spirit like resistance, life, mana, and best of all, 35 fcr; which mean you are more flexible on choosing more mf gears
@@v-long2136 Negative, +2 skills only give around 15% enhanced overall lightning damage, but infi can give additional -20% enemy lightning resist which is still far better than +2 skill. However, if you use crescent moon, you can use shako and 105FCR at ease, it will give you better MF when you doing 3pp mf in pit and cow with a2 merc using insight only. A very decent choice in ladder start.
When I ran a similar build back in the day I found two monsters with immunity I couldn't break... Yes, two individual monsters. It was quite a surprise to see for me 😁
@@bivdog 4:05 he mentions best in slot is sythe. Im making the claim trident is best in slot for self use sine it has even lower strength requirements then the scythe.
So happy to be playing D2 again. Just grinding my solo found characters. Finally have my Uber smiter geared out. It took awhile but I'm going to get me some torches!! Thanks Phil for all your tips, tricks and knowledge about the game over the years.
Yeah I just did my first four Uber run ever. I f... up one time, so only got three torches. Couldn't get back to my body - Mephisto keep one shotting me when I entered Tristam. Unfortunately none of my torches is for mage. I got for Necromancer, Druid and Amazon so I need more key running.
Yeah I also have a Nova Sorceress. Don't have Infinity so I use Crescent Moon sword and spirit shield. I also use the three pieces of Tals set. Belt, armor and amulet for magic find. It not strong enough for Chaos Sanctuary, but good enough for pit at players three, and keys farming. Hopefully I will some day get the Ber's needed for Infinity.
I myself have a self wielding infinity sorceress and wear a griffons, magefist, 2 sojs, arachnid's, and crafted caster boots and it just melts players 8 games im in!
I've been playing blizz sorc with 3 piece tals. 450+ mf and can clear any content, but I just foudn a griffons and I'm considering swapping to this. Idk how I'd like losing all that mf butthis is a build I've never played so that alone makes me wanna give it a go

How much mf do you have with that setup? a good amount which seems to kind of top you out is around 300-350 mf, is that possible with this setup? ofc you probably kill faster than a blizz sorc can, so maybe it evens out :D and for runes mf doesn't matter anyway so it's def. better with a light sorc for runes
Yeah you'd have to play for a long time or get lucky. Check out GGM's video where he uses seed to find 40 ber in single. Even if you just find a pul you can combine runes to make any runeword on single. The griffons tho... And for me I gotta have the facets... And my Griffon is perfect.... And two infinity.... And life gcs... And perfect eschutas.... And so on.
Im gonna be swapping my chain lightning to this build, as soon as a i find a eth scythe base. You mentioned Lidless for offhand +1 skill, and how theyre a pain to find. To keep strength as low as possible, try a Splendor runeword in a 2 sock Small Shield with a str req of only 22! Buy one from charsi, and who hasnt got Eth & Lum kicking about by the time you're building this build!?
I first made a Hammerdin this ladder, then respecced to FOHdin, then i made a Sorc and now i have made Infinity for her and it rolled very good -53 320ED. And i have a perfect upped Vipermagi, and today i bought an 18 15 Griffon which i need to socket and then i still have no 5 5 light die, need 2, then i have no light skillers yet. But i have the rest.
With the sunder charms, I prefer a spirit+eschuta build with 200fcr for the final breakpoint on my nova sorc and cta+spirit on swap. Infinity seems unnecessary now and having 200fcr is a lot of fun. Of course, it is hard to get a decent amount of mf though. In fact, my nova sorc only has 150ish mf. I also have everything socketed with facets, but perhaps you're right that it might be better to socket for mf instead. The extra -5 +5 is nice, but not super neccesary.

Using 2 sojs and 20fcr gloves is way better then frostburn and fcr rings. Plus skills is better as you only need level 39 plus BAttle command to Get to perfect ES
My favorite is 200fcr with Inifinity on the merc. Instead of coh, I have fortitude...Cure is an interesting option, which I may try, atm I am with Andy visage with a poison facet + phoenix on swap, it literally acts like a rejuv potion

Im on soft core -so i dont have cure :(( but the build is SICK everything dies within 5 secs unless i get the curse that takes health on cast.. but my question is can i do ubers with it online - softcore???
isnt infinity enough to make all monsters light immunity gone? why you have a lightning sunder aswell? also isnt forti ethereal better than coh for merc? or for this build coh is best?
He explains that CoH is for the life leech. Conviction can't break all immunities. Certain uniques and champions will spawn with unbreakable immunities.
This looks gat but question is how do you get to that level? All your videos are of high level and optimal gear. I’m just going to hell so how do you survive when you only level 60

A 5/5 faceted plus 3 to nova Ormus is far better. I mean either way melts players 1….I ran vipermagi until I could trade for one and I haven’t looked back. A powerful and fun character . Great key farmer too 😎
@@southhouse8420u don’t lose a SoJ get an FCR ammy. I’ve done it both ways and since resists are irrelevant Ormus is better in every way. If u are after raw damage that is the BIS armor for this build.
@@southhouse8420 I am not worried about defense at all. Softcore P1 my objective is to melt down monsters instantly and tele stomp to the next pack. I don’t use Frostburns I use magefist gloves so that’s where I get my FCR. Also the ammy like I said. I don’t sacrifice my SoJ’s slots. If u rock a nice CTA u will easily be over 2K mana without frosties. Defensively I rock a nice pair of Treks and with some charms I’m maxed out on poison res. Additionally I use the act 5 merc with dual plague swords for the additional lower res and cleansing aura since I do a ton of Chaos Baal and Key farming with this character so cursed go away instantly. I think offense is the best defense on softcore hence my high damage set up.
Yes you are right. For myself i use Ormus nova with 5/5 facet. For the fcr breakpoint i use a 2/20 amu with 75 % poison lenght reduction and a cta in a warstaff base which gives me +3 energyshield and + 3 frostarmor. Thats the best you can do.
@@southhouse8420 yes the amu wasnt cheap, paid 35 x jah runes for it, still i consider it as a good/cheap purchase. with this ormus setup i deal about 900 more dps on average than with viper setup. first i thought it woudnt be worth to give up the res and dmg red on viper for this additional damage but with high end gear you really dont have to bother dying on your runs. only a huge amount of souls and reckless killing those dolls can result in a death but to be fair, even with viper u would die in this scenario. poison res isn't needed any longer with this 75 % length reduction, so i dont need sandstorm, using tri res mf boots - guess thats a good compensation for viper. unfortunatly my cta base doesnt have additional + 3 to thunder but such a base would be out of my league, too expensive.
You can use "Skin of the Flayed One" has 5-7 life leech, but I don't really think you need life leech to be honest. It is better to have high res on the hireling.
If you're still online you can wait until ladder resets and trade for one. If you're single player you should be able to make non-ladder runewords no problem. Otherwise the standard options. Something with resists and life steal. Stealcasque, Crown of Thieves, Vampire's Gaze, Andariel's Visages socketed with a Ral, or the cheap and easy to find Tal Rasha's Mask.
@@SweetPhil I’m assuming you’re talking about FCR, I was asking about faster hit recovery. I know from my own that the only place I’m getting FHR is on some rare tri-res, 25% mf boots and charms
Splendor is good cheap +1 skill shield if you have low str. You can make it any 2 soc shield Nef + Lum +1 To All Skills +10% Faster Cast Rate +20% Faster Block Rate +60-100% Enhanced Defense +10 To Energy Regenerate Mana 15% 50% Extra Gold From Monsters 20% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items +3 To Light Radius
I dont play much SP so i understand the Mancatcher, but Brandistock is better cause its -20 speed not -10 as scythe and that helps if you wanna self wield it also on trapsin.
@@bivdogright, but if you have the runes to spare making it in a brandistock has the lowest requirements while being a fast base for use on trapsin as well. Thats what he's saying.

It does rely on the end game gear for maximum efficiency, but once you get there it's possibly the most OP Sorc build in the game. I remember playing this around 2010 on ladder & it wrecked everything back then too.
