What a neat find. It always makes me sad to see abandoned homesteads. The death of a dream. Anyway, I'm glad you showed it to us. It must have been lovely in it's day.

Probably a hunting cabin. High up, no water. Boarded Windows have hinges and padlocks to open it all up and stop trespassers and vandals using or destroying it or squatters taking it over.

Really cool. Definitely not built right but it's fully salvageable with some work. Mostly all that chinking and then the bark would have to be removed and any rotten logs replaced. Then that roof would need a good inspection and repair. Yeah that foundation would have to be removed and redone but it's doable. Definitely remove the paneling inside to ensure no critters or mold is growing in there. Some one with some time and a little bit of money could make this a nice place to live. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

I think it would be at least 100 year's old. Cabin's where I live that is made like that is at 100 year's old if not older.. It is sad to see old cabin's and house's forgot about.. I say at one time it was very pretty little cabin..

The excessive chinking is because of the bark. The ends of the logs are pretty clean . betting it was used less than 15 years ago.

It was some old man's retreat from his nagging wife, unfortunately she got the better of him, and nobody knows it's there

My guess is that there was a guy who cut down the pine trees for opening up the road to the wood and then utilized those cut trees as the material to build this abandoned log cabin, for vacation use.

I live in a cabin built the same way. My cabin was built in 1929. Others in my area built as early as 1800's. South east mo.

I'd see how rusted the hinges are and look to see if the padlocks are functional, if they are people hunt out of it still probably

What a shame to let it go. People may have lost interest or passed on. Maybe with a map you can look up the records and find out if anyone still owns it. It would take lots of work to fix it up if it could be saved at all.

the porch is a little weak but the cabin itself looks sound.clean up the porch area ,re-thatch the roof and you would have a nice bug out cabin.

11:26 After he says "kind of spooky" I heard a chuckle! At first thought it was her but listened again and it is an absolute chuckle! Another abandoned cabin in woods on Mr. Man's channel {an illustration of a man in a bumble bee costume] in Louisiana. He is filming an old wheelchair saying it must have been for an elderly person and you hear a whisper "mind your business." A little later he was outside seeming to go down under a branch and hear an "oomph" then another whisper "grabnah" and couldn't make it out but the two whispers sound like the same voice. I get an image of a black man while the chuckle heard at this cabin, I saw a white guy with white hair and white beard. I have not experienced such things. Seen my share of orbs, shadows, full body bluts but never heard such things!

Good Day, did you ever figured out who this belongs to and what happened? I might have the answers you are looking for.
@HomesteadingWays
@HomesteadingWays 2 года назад
All I found out was that it was built as a hunting cabin and later abandoned. The owner of the land that it sits on isn't there very often so I was never able to speak with him.

Hi, This is definitely NOT the one. So I checked to see how I even got to this website which was searched at the time under abandoned cabins in the woods Tagish which was the 3rd option so do a search and there it will be. Now that you provided me with the access to look at it again, I realise it is not the cabin that I was thinking of but was sure hoping it was. Thank you for sharing as it gave me the opportunity to check it out once again. Thanks very much. Janice

It looks it could have been built by some finnish immigrants around 100 years ago, at least the style is very typical. The place looks so beautiful.

The first thought would be to lock it in with a GPS then go look it up and see who owns the land they might not even know it's there.

These roads are no picnic., they are twisty because the horses that used to haul log wagons would try to run fast on straight roads....we used to boring chain saws and come-alongside up in Canada

I don't mean to be rude, but . . . You do not go into other people's houses, even if abandoned, or vacant. Or even if they are illegal. ALL you need to know is that is NOT you house.
