I was surprised that this is your 1st Fleetwood Mac song. They are icons in rock right up there with Zep and the Beatles. Lindsey is a guitar god! Your going to get this suggestion a lot: Do the entire "Rumours" album.
He actually has a professionally recognized guitar training style now, bearing his name, for his distinctive style which is self taught and self developed for lack of professional training. He is a guitar unicorn; a once in a lifetime talent.
On a gauge of 1 - 10...That was a 20! He uses his fingers to play! No pick. When he left Fleetwood Mac they had to hire 2 guitarists to replace him. Thanks for showing people his talent.
the rate on how difficult this is, is a 10. There are plenty of videos that show how people are doing this without performing an singing over it like Lindsey did. He's very underrated as a guitar player, though now people start to realize more and more how special he is. One of the best ways to emphasize this is the fact that when he was kicked out of Fleetwood Mac they needed to hire TWO guitar players to do what he did, and that was even without his amazing vocals. This happened not once but twice... Lindsey Buckingham truly one of a kind 🖤🤘
Lindsey is the best at guitar playing. He's doing so many difficult things. Singing while playing without a pick. He plays finger style which allows him to hit more chords. And he's fast. And yes, he has a great voice. When he left Fleetwood Mac the band had to hire two guitarists to replace Lindsey. Listen to his performance on The Chain (with Fleetwood Mac). Thank you for reacting to this. I enjoyed your sincere appreciation of his talent.
Lindsey only uses the finger picking when playing. Suggestion use this find Fleetwood Mac - I'm So Afraid - The Dance - 1997....You'll get your drums from the Great Mick Fleetwood, and Lindsey as good as it gets.
Absolutely love this guy. Its criminal how underrated he is .Not just as a musician but how he single-handedly turned Fleetwood Mac into one of the biggest bands in the world. So there's a few songs worth checking out to get you started with them. For just his guitar skills Checkout the song I'm So Afraid from that same concert called The Dance. Then also from that concert there's The Chain, Go your own way and Tusk.
Actually, the best live version of "I'm So Afraid" is the Cleveland OH 1980 version. It's audio only, but on that concert Lindsey played one of the best guitar solos of all time.
Yeah that's some challenging guitar work. He's typically pretty low key as a guitarist, playing amazing rhythm and usually simple but melodic and powerful solos within the song. He sings lead on about 1/3 of their singles as there are two female leads in the band as well who were both great songwriters and singers. You really need to do some of their hit songs from their self titled album and Rumours. You may even find that you recognize a few. They had some huge hits.
Most underrated guitarist,, and he's singing about the lead singer Stevie Nicks, that band all fooled around back then, one show he threw his guitar at her ( not good) but the band all worked it out ✌️✌️ great reaction brother ✌️🙏
Lindsey Adams Buckingham is an American musician and record producer, best known as the lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the band Fleetwood Mac from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to 2018. In addition to his tenure with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has released seven solo studio albums and three live albums. I have seen F.M. live 2 times and this song performed. Lindsey had been voted Best Guitarist of the year in the past.
I've been playing guitar for 40 years, and I can tell you how hard it is to play that song because I play it. It's one of my favorite Buckingham songs. He's an amazing song writer, and this bears that out.
Lindsey is using Nylon strings, on a flamenco styled guitar, used mostly in classical music, rather than steel strings. Most of the time in other Mac songs, he's using thesame strings yet runs the guitar thru an electric amp.
Just found you today. Nice reactions. Just watched Tesla, Heart and a couple others. Want another amazing band, give Queensryche (sounds like Queensryk) a try - Take Hold Of The Flame (Live in Tokyo)
This is not your typical Fleetwood Mac song for a first intro to them, but anything and everything by FM is amazing! I highly recommend "The Chain"for your next FM reaction. It's one of my favorites; although, it wouldn't matter which song you choose, their catalog is huge, and they're all fire! Thanks for another great reaction, JM! ✌💙✌
This was a phenomenal performance by Lindsey Buckingham. He's a member of the band Fleetwood Mac. And I think his guitar skills are most certainly underrated and overlooked because he's clearly a guitar OG...right!? (clearly Impressive) Fleetwood Mac was a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967. They are a band that had two distinct styles one in the sixties and when they brought Lindsey Buckingham and then Stevie Nicks into the mix their sound totally changed. After starting her career as a duo with then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham and their first album had little success the two joined Fleetwood Mac although not at the same time in 1975. Their chemistry and wonderful talent helped the band to become one of the best-selling music acts of all time. Here's another live performance, if interested. *"Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (Official Music Video) [4K Remastered]"* As always it was fun rocking with you JMBOY
There were a ton of celebrities in the audience that night ! Cheryl Crow and Courtney Love to name a couple ! Cheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks are very close friends ! Fleetwood Mac is another band with an endless catalogue of phenomenal music !
Lindset Buckingham is an under-appreciated guitarist. He never used a pick. Phenomenal player. People may tell you about the album Rumours from the 70s of the theirs. He and Stevie Nicks (one of their female lead vocalists) were splitting up and he wrote Go Your Own Way for/to her and she wrote Dreams for/to him. One of these days check out live of Silver Springs and see her sing AT him: 'I will follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you. You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you'. They still probably love one another but are just too toxic together. The other member of FM were going through divorces and breakups at the same time as those two during the making of Rumours, and the album is just phenomenal, no other words. You have to hear more FM and start with the two songs above, and then do more from Rumous, one of the best ranked albums of all time. Lindsey arranged most if not all of their songs. He truly is not given the props he deserves for playing, singing, or arranging. To see Lindsey even more impressive watch live version (outside venue) of I'm So Afraid.
Should have started Fleetwood Mac with " Oh Well " & Black Magic Woman by Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac. They were long before Buckingham, Nick & Christian McVey
Oh my goodness....please keep going with the Fleetwood Mac reactions!! They have a neverending catalog of hits!!! Not to mention incredible talent!!! Lindsey Buckingham is such an underrated guitarist...its almost criminal! You should go listen to "Silver Spring" from the same concert!! Enjoy!!!🎶🎼🎵🎹🎤🎧🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🔥
your first fleetwood mac? hard to believe. Rumours is one of the best selling albums of all time. Not ONE bad song on it. 4 top ten hits in 1977 and was basically the number one album the WHOLE year. Plust they've had other great albums as wel. but Rumours is the pinnacle.
This isn't the most difficult fingerstyle guitar piece ever, but it's up there, and as you say his passion, and singing while he's playing, really push it higher.
As with several others already here in the comments, I also have to suggest that you check out "I'm So Afraid" from this same concert performance of The Dance. It is my absolute favourite Fleetwood Mac song of all-time👍
The studio version is quite different, in that he has Stevie Nicks vocals and the whole band instrumentation too. This to me is way better. Always a superb guitarist - on my top 10 best. Cheers ✌
The studio version is 100% Lindsey vocals (yes even the female sounding ooh ahs) and 95% Lindsey instrumentals. Only Mick is on there with some drum fills. He original produced it for a solo album along with a few others that got rolled into FM's Tango album. 3/5ths of the band were barely there during 17 months of recording due to addiction problems. It was mostly just Lindsey & Christine.
JM... It's about time you discovered the man I consider the finest Guitarist on the planet. Al Di Meola. I saw him live and was totally blown away. You really must hear on electric Gibson Less Paul - "Elegant Gypsy Suite". But first check out this acoustic guitar duo..... Paco de Lucía & Al Di Meola - Mediterranean Sundance
You asked for Drums ? Him and Mick Fleetwood go absolutely bananas on I’m So Afraid Live from this same concert. Mick goes ham on those drums! He’s fun to watch.
Great reaction. I've heard about Lindsey Buckingham's playing skills, but I didn't realize it until seeing videos like this. That is highly skilled playing, which is even harder to do on an acoustic guitar than an electric.
