best ride/event ever! my sixth time doing it and this 2021 was the first time I didn't get a cramp! best ride in WA, thanks for the video and hope you do it again next year.
I’ve done the idiot course 3 times. Burma is an absolute beast. I have seen many crash because they cannot unclip fast enough. 2019 it had rained the night before the ride. 29% and wet made it feel like ice. I managed to make it without stopping. Soft pedaling & trying not to slip your tire is key. Nice vid!
Thanks for your comment and nice work on the rides! I was definitely nervous before tackling this for the first time. I really don't know if I'd be brave enough to do it in less than ideal conditions.
What a brutal ride - and I only finished 50 miles. Hoping to be back next year, with a bit more "crazy hill training" under my belt, and starting early enough to finish the full 80 miles.
Great work Ronald, 6500 ft is an insane amount of climbing! Check out the other climbs on my channel if you're in the King County area for some of that training. You also will have the Gold Beach climb on the Idiot route to look forward to which has spectacular views making it one of my favourites throughout the whole ride! :)
Yep, it's from the anime Yowamushi Pedal and it's the main character Onoda Sakamichi's high school team jersey. He's certainly an inspiration for all the climbing I do!
@@j.crettin2608 I'll probably upload a video with my bikes / filming set up sometime so you'll definitely know it's me! Feel free to call out best side cycling and I'll definitely respond! 😅
How is biking on Vashon island overall? I know there's a steep gradient near the northern ferry terminal but hard to tell how tough it actually is. Would be cool if you did an overview :)
Congrats! That was an awesome ride and BBQ. Yeah Burma was a "b"! Maury island and all the hills after that. I've watched that whole anime series. Well done and what's the cassette range you use? 11-30?
Thanks and agreed, the hills definitely got longer on Maury Island but loved all the great views. I was running a 11-34 cassette, so pretty much ready to spin up any climb. :)
Try out 155th Pl SE for something super steep and tiring too, one of the few climbs that have me wheezing compared to Zoo www.strava.com/segments/7461495
