I live in Alaska where sometimes it's dark for 20 hours a day. I listen to this song when I want to cry.

Sometimes you just gotta swing the bat. If you don't even try, you'll never know if you even had a chance of doing something amazing. So what if you strike out? You had the balls to swing. Sometimes that's just enough. But those times... When you finally hit that world shattering home run, you'll be happy you swung in the first place.

Ah, yes. The scene where the theme of FLCL came into full view: people using romance as a means to an end. Despite being so different, Mamimi and Haruko were very similar; narrative parallels, in some sense. They both wanted Naota, but they didn't _want_ Naota. They wanted something associated with him. In Mamimi's case, he reminded her of Naota's older brother, and in Haruko's, he had a space pirate bird inside him. A tale about how true love is about loving someone for who _they_ are, demonstrated by showing both regular and the logical extreme of cases where that _doesn't_ happen.

i first watched this anime 2 days ago, but it feels like I've known it my whole life for some reason..

The combo of the "swing the bat" scene and this song is possibly the greatest animated sequence that has ever been made across anything. That was the exact moment in FLCL where I realized I was watching something legendary.

Man these guys nail the vocal harmony in all their songs. Really inspiring and beautiful music while totally f'in rocking at the same time.

Ok but can we talk about how good this song is, like instrumentally and sonically? The warm, slight clipping in the production, the amazing sounding vintage-style drums mixed in with the guitars, plus the wonderful melody and guitar solo? this is a masterfully crafted rock song by itself and the mixing and mastering sound so alive!

Not gonna lie, the guitar solo makes me wanna cry. One of the best Pillows songs.

Memories....I remember I was at Anime Boston and one of the guests was Kari Walghren (HARUKO!!). And well...I was....let me tell you all something...Kari...is VERY pretty girl. I was a little bit shy when I got to meet her....she flashed me this amazing smile and said "Hi there! Nice t' meet ya!" I handed her my FLCL poster to sign. "ooooh...I like this! Wow. Where did ya get it?" "The..the dealers room." I said. "Hahaha! Of course!" she laughed. "What's yer name?" I forgot my name! "It's uh..It's um..." I looked at my nametag. "Mike. I'm...I'm mike. Yeah, that's me. heh, heh." She started to sign my poster when she stopped "AH CRAP!" "What's wrong?" "I know just what t'write now! But I'm writing something else! I shouda wrote (in Haruko's voice) "Heeey...what's under the band-aid?" But I"m writing somthing else SHOOT!" "That's okay." I said. "Aw, yer sweet." She said givng her smile again. A lovely girl is calling me sweet...THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.

After not seeing or hearing about flcl it came up one day in a youtube recommendation. After listening to the songs again, i realized my wife is mamimi and my personality became haruko. Im to excited and energetic and a dumb/smart a** lol. Wow....feels weird hearing his and feel old when you remember hearing it so young...now with a kid on the way, i think i swung the bat at some point...

This song just reminds me of, being on open water in a small boat on a clear Summer morning. As you breathe the lake's crisp air while watching the rising sun's warm reflection off the fluxuating waters, you see small groups of seagulls squawking at each other as they fly by. It's a cozy paradise. So much simpler than the struggles of modern living. At that moment, you notice off in the distance a bridge closing the gap of the lake between one side of the town, to the other as people are driving by on their morning commutes. You sigh in dissapointment as you realize this moment won't last forever. You will have to return to that lifestyle soon. As you're overwhelmed by a growing sense of despair, you catch yourself glancing back towards the rising sun. Only to again gasp in awe of the lush breathing forest, crisp waters and the magnificence of the vast, open sky. You whisper to yourself... "Can't it always be this simple?..." You chuckle under your breath, sit in your seat, and look at where you are at the moment. You stop planning the future, and worrying about what possible inconveniences could weigh you down... Rather, you've become excited to live in the moment, and learn to find bliss and peace in where you are and not where you could be. . . . . That's what this song makes me feel. Finding peace and bliss in the moment rather than worrying about what could randomly trip you up in the future. . . I don't know the song's original meaning, or it's words. But the Pillows' music have managed to resonate with so many of my emotions that I don't think there's a single song they've made that can't match to one of my possible feelings. . . . . Thanks, Pillows.

I introduced my Ex-Boyfriend to this song and he loved it so much, we'd listen to it in his car when we drove wherever and we'd try to sing along as best we could. When he broke up with me (via text no less) I was so hurt that I couldn't stand to see or hear anything we used to enjoy together. I'd feel physically ill every time...but this song, it never fails to bring me back to better times. He can't block this CRAZY SUNSHINE!
