Heyyyyyy maybe you can tell me from experience? I have an s52 swapped e30 I’ve been building for years and it has an m50 block bored out for the s52 pistons. (Original block was cracked where the oil squirter goes thru) Some say the piston walls are too thin on the m50 block. Any thoughts?
30 years ago, our neighbor bought a 323i with a broken engine. He is a mechanic. He first put a 2.7 liter eta engine in his car, with different headers and cams, like Alpina and others. Not bad in these days, but then he found a damaged 745i. 3.5 Liter turbo. The right engine for an e30. Some little mods and the engine had 350 hp instead 252 from factory. This car was fast. Too fast.

Biggest variable is how cheap can you get a running e30. They are about 5k around me with an m20, turbo kit another 1k, axels/diff another 1k, wheels tires 1-2k, then you’ll probably need a lot of restoration parts to make it look decent.
