The temple is Aluwihara and it is Historical because it is the place were the buddhist teachings first wrote in books in entire world. Until this event all the teaching was memorized by monks.

That temple was built more than 2100 years ago by King Devanampiya Tissa. 24:20 And those paintings are not just 200 years old. Those painting are dates back to 200-100 BC that means 2100 years or more older. The department of archeology has preserved the paintings by applying a some sort of protective coating.
