For a brief moment, I wondered if she was the wacko after she checked it the first time and maybe she was watching CCTV of someone locked up in the basement, but then I realized she'd see them get out if that was the case.
If I heard someone laugh when I'm home alone, I'd run out the front door, all the while shouting: *TV is in the living room, XBOX and iPad also in the living room and snacks are in the downstairs cupboard.*
Great cinematography and good sound effects. I think the first time she look into the door make it totally silent as well as after she hears the cries would add more suspense. The switch and bait for the jump scare also had good camera work and replace the cries with maybe just some crackling sound would be enough. I mean, would you just simply go and look if you hear someone crying under your staircase? You would shout, and grab any weapon you have before approaching, thus a weird sound would not be too unreasonable enough for you to walk over and investigate.
Why would you even go investigate that? I'm 6'2" 220 lbs and at the first sign of that laugh I would've bolted out the front door flailing my arms in the air screaming like a little girl all while I pissed my pants.
The laugh sounded like an old male ‘person’. Plus the lady was more like suprised than scared and tried to approach to the noise’s source. So my theory is the laugh was of her dead husband, and there were something secret, something bad in the past between them.
The end got me. Normally jump scares don't affect me but just the hands coming out of the darkness, for whatever reason made me jump a little. Got my heart going a little faster. XDDD I do live for those moments though so its all good for me.
Really creepy short horror movie, well acted and suspenseful. I especially liked the sobbing near the end, and the hand that grabbed her just in the end. Keep up the great work. I will definitely watch the rest of your videos.
Amazing work! With simple tools you can create very scary atmosphere, it all depends to use it right. You nailed it in this short film! I am director and actor from Sweden and I love to make short horror films aswell. I hope to see more from you. SUBSCRIBED!
This was friggin awesome! That lady/actress was great!! This kind of reminds me of that or were short called "Lights Out "! That also scared the poop out of me!! Nice job folks!! Keep them coming!!
WOAH. That was intense! This is everyone's nightmare living alone... Scared the hell out of me, though "nothing actually happened". Absolutely well done!
.....and I would've grabbed my purse, scrammed out the door, & giggled MY ass allll the way to catch the Nope train to F**k That town & never look back!! I'll send for my things!
That laugh... Holy guac. And when he grabbed her? It's been a while since a Short like this has actually made me jolt with fear. Loved it. Y'all have earned yourselves a subscriber.
Not bad, creative in using only the creaking of a wooden door as your means to set up the scene. One comment tho. Was that a laugh, a crying sound, or was it someone having an indigestion? That part kinda threw me off :o Thanks for upload tho :)
I wouldn't mind a little more story, but overall nicely done. Lighting and shots looked great, decent suspense and effective jump scare. I do a lot of horror, too. Feel free to swing by and let me know what you think!
Fantastic. Loved the lead actress's look and overall presence. She did great. The sound design was professional quality and the cinematography was great. Solid work!
Nice job. I had a couple of comments for you guys since I always appreciate constructive criticism on my films. As usual, take it with a grain of salt. This film does a good job with building tension. I liked how you took a small setting and used it to your advantage to tell a cohesive story. It was nice seeing only 3 locations for this film, when a lot of independent filmmakers usually have a tendency to overreach and use too many locations in the span of two and a half minutes. As for the criticisms I had: The sound design could use a little work. I understand that you were trying to go for a "quiet - too quiet" type of feel, but the first half of the film felt a little awkward. It seems like you could have layered some room sound or found a bit of background noise to make the scene still feel like a house, even if it's just something very small. Your lead actress was also lacking. I started off the film hopeful, since a lot of short films try to play off kids as adults and seeing an older woman was a refreshing change for a youtube horror short. However, her reactions to the various sounds of the monster(?) were a little lackluster. Overall, this film was a little rough around the edges, but ultimately an enjoyable watch. Keep up the good work!
Watched this several times and.........NO MATTER WHAT? THOSE DAMN HANDS ALWAYS SCARE THE EFF OUT OF ME! AND THAT CREEPY ASS LAUGH!! (sounded more like moaning)
Jesus Christ ! ... I would have puked and shit myself at the same time following a life ending heart attack. My soul would leave my body and have to seek mental help in the afterlife.
