Thank you Thanks for sharing. Had your results been 3D printed with a MSLA 3D Printer they would have been identical to the Original. I Printed The baby owl with a SLM Metal 3D printer and it came out great in Aluminum.
How much better is the result when placing the object on a post on a turntable and putting the scanner on a tripod that can be moved up and down during the scan process?
I personally liked being hand held and you can somewhat adjust your own speed and angle easier and didn't have as much luck myself with the tripod and automatic turn table but didn't really try to work with it that much either to be fair.
It's a little convoluted. I use a 3D molding package similar to Blender , it's called Maya but not free like Blender so I would recommend Blender. Then I scaled the model to make it flatter like you would see on the coin. Once I was happy with the model I exported it as an .STL. I then ran that .stl through a free online stl to heightmap website (fenrus75.github.io/FenrusCNCtools/javascript/stl2png.html?fbclid=IwAR3xyOvPmCtofyY-vcXsePzkrVv1I_CL6l-RDGpRLhU1pLNcuOEG66_SylI) which converted it to a image that I could then use in Lightburn with their Slice 3D process of generating layers from the heightmap to engrave in 3D on the coin. If you look up creating 3D coins in Lightburn on RU-vid you should find some videos on it.
Like I said in the video there is lots that can be done with phones nowadays and I have used 3D scanners apps with great results on my phone but honestly never to the high quality I achieved with this scanner.
Iuse iphone 15 and samsung phone to try 3d scanner app. none can get high quality as this scanner. Iphone scanner are great but not as good as this scanner.
