Update: xTool has added a new feature to the S1 that allows you to take a picture with your phone to make positioning of your designs easier when doing batch production.

The only downside to expensive thing is price. LOL. bought the xtool one for my leather business last Nov. and i love it so much. Some advice from my experience: if you're buying a laser machine for your business, a few hundred bucks is really not a thing. Think about it: if you aim to save few hundred dollars and end up with a poor machine, it will cause more trouble in the long run.

Started with D1, upgraded to S1 via their Trade-in prog. One crucial point missed: THE SOFTWARE. Not a fan of COMPLEX software like Lightburn, so xTool's software has been incredibly helpful. Learning to use the S1, considering another F1 in the future.
@zouzou9948
@zouzou9948 5 месяцев назад
Upgrading from my D1 to the S1, I never thought the camera would be crucial, but autofocus really saves time. I've watched numerous Falcon review videos, and noticed a recurring issue. Initially, I thought it was an isolated case, but it seems to occur in every video - the Falcon's camera isn't precise. At 5:05, the design is clearly centered, but after engraving at 5:09, the design is not in the same position!

Thank you for making this video! After much deliberation on which machine to go with, I went with the S1. Its conveyor feature was the reason, as it seems only the S1 supports a conveyor system(couldn't afford the P2). Another reason for my decision was XCS. Thanks to another influencer, Buster Beagle 3D, for the tutorial, which explained how to use the S1 every step of the way very effectively.

I'm curious as to why you are using my content in your video and not getting permission or at least linking my channel in your bio to give credit to the folks that you stole the footage from. Starting at 7:36 it is clearly the footage from my recent overview of the xTool Riser and rotary. I don't recall anyone from your channel contacting me to ask if this was okay. The faint credit that you did give is barely visible in the lower left corner of the clips and I have to wonder if the other creators are aware that you are using their footage. Making monetization income from other people's content is a pretty clear copyright violation and also a violation of RU-vid standards. Sounds like a report has to be submitted about your content.
@ygk3d
@ygk3d 5 месяцев назад
Hey! Yes, you’re right, I used a short clip from one of your videos. The source is indicated in the lower left corner. I’m using this in the context of industry commentary so it’s covered under fair use, which doesn’t require explicit permission. In an ideal world explicit permission would be sought and granted, but this would be prohibitive since emails often go unanswered. I’ll plan on making the attribution text more prominent in future videos. I’ll also add a link to your channel in the description. Thanks for the feedback.
@NonStick872
@NonStick872 5 месяцев назад
@@ygk3d Hmmmmm in an Ideal world..... Well, you've just pointed out a problem you've made which wouldn't have happened had you just contacted the other creators and posted the channels and made the credits clearer...... What comes across here is just out right laziness to reach out, and then put the credits so small and relatively transparent as to hope no one notices.... And not to mention not posting any of the "credited creators" channels in your description or bio..... How do you explain the lack of credits in the one place where it would be most prominent and most likely to be searched for?
@ygk3d
@ygk3d 5 месяцев назад
@@NonStick872 To reach out to each creator individually, while more ideal, would be prohibitive and is not required under the guidelines for fair use. Not adding the channel links to the description is an oversight on my part. I will correct that. For your reference, I’ll quote a few paragraphs from the definition of fair use for you: “Fair use is a doctrine in United States law that permits limited use of copyrighted material without having to first acquire permission from the copyright holder. Fair use is one of the limitations to copyright intended to balance the interests of copyright holders with the public interest in the wider distribution and use of creative works by allowing as a defense to copyright infringement claims certain limited uses that might otherwise be considered infringement.” “The fair use right is a general exception that applies to all different kinds of uses with all types of works. In the U.S., fair use right/exception is based on a flexible proportionality test, that examines the purpose of the use, the amount used, and the impact on the market of the original work.” Given that I am using a very short clip for the purposes of commentary on a topic I don’t see this being an issue. If anyone expresses that they don’t want me to use any portion of their content as reference material I will respect that. I choose to use clips from other creators only when I don’t have supporting footage for a topic. I do this in place of a clip of me staring at the camera. I feel this is a mutual benefit to the viewer and the creator whose content is featured. The viewer gets a more entertaining video and the creator gets more exposure. If a viewer’s interest is piqued by a clip that is featured they can visit that creator’s channel directly.

Such a shame that diode lasers cant handle acrylic well. I started of with a small k40 C02 laser and would love a bigger work area but I really cant give up the ability to cut clear/colored acrylic. The price of larger C02 lasers is still really high, if only diode lasers worked well with acrylic I'd absolutely buy one.
@ygk3d

For sure. The ability to cut clear acrylic is a big reason to get a CO2 laser instead of a diode laser. Power used to be a differentiating factor as well but modern diode lasers are comparable to CO2 now in that regard.

@YaaLFH
@YaaLFH 5 месяцев назад
You're comparing apples and oranges. In comparison to CO2 lasers, diode laser have very limited depth of focus so quality suffers visibly at only a few mm away from where focus is set. The S1 has a motorised Z axis so it adjusts distance as it works, keeping a curved surface in focus. The Falcon doesn't have motorised Z axis so it can't do it.

I've had a 20w diode laser for a minute, though I'm pretty sure I destroyed the diode itself as it doesn't engrave or cut as well as it used to. That being said, it'd be nice to see how this stacks up to comparatively priced Co2 options. I really want to get into Co2 lasers because my diode just isn't really doing what I want it to do but I dont really know where to start thats more plug and play.
@YaaLFH
@YaaLFH 5 месяцев назад
Most likely you didn't destroy the diode itself, just the lens cover - it gets covered with muck as you use the laser which damages it and causes loss off power. This part is considered a consumable, you're supposed to clean it as often as necessary and replace when it eventually gets damaged.

@@xXcagllariXx You shouldn't be touching the actual lens inside the module, only the lens cover at the bottom of the module. If you replaced the lens, it's quite likely it's not aligned well and not focusing correctly. Diode lasers have a very small depth of focus and quality suffers at a mm+ away. Creality doesn't make good hardware. They take good ideas and figure out the cheapest way to make it, which creates poor quality. I've had dozens of printers and not one creality was actually ready to go as it came from the factory. Creality is for the ultra tight budget, and beginner market. They are constantly putting out new machines without ever actually getting a single model done that's reliable.
@RYTHMICRIOT
@RYTHMICRIOT 5 месяцев назад
I started with a Creality. Now I have a Bambu. My prints are done the first time and I move onto the next project. Most of the Creality community is printing mods to make their printers semi-usable. Don't get me wrong, Creality is a great starting point for learning the processes, but the low cost is not justification for spending hundreds of hours printing mods not to mention the lost filament due to failed prints. In fact, my Bambu spends much of the time idle, because I finish my project quickly and efficiently and sits until I'm ready for my next project.

Interesting and comprehensive. However, my major concern is a missing filter for the exhaust. Depending on the material, the exhaust gas may contain some pretty harmful chemicals (e.g., Dioxins, PAHs, or heavy metals, to name just a few). These should not be allowed to just vent into the room, and actually, should neither be vented to the environment anyway. A cheap active carbon filter should easily be able to retain all of the harmful chemicals. But that doesn't seem to be included. On a side note: I think you should change the title of your video. Otherwise people may not be able to find it when looking for cutting and engraving tools.

I would assume it's not possible. Carbon has an extremely high melting point generally, diamond for example melts >3000º so I imagine a laser would fail to melt and vaporise CF. Even if it could, the heat could damage the resin if it were prepreg.

I had a couple people reach out to me out this video. It was mentioned that my footage was used. Typically when you use another creator's footage, you seek permission first. At the bare minimum use a lower 3rd that actually stands out, calling out the creator in the voice over, and properly tagging them and the video in the description. Unfortunately this has been on ongoing trend with 3D Printers and Laser lately. All it will take is that one that one creator to strike your channel. I am not the person to strike a channel, I am only giving you some advise for future content. Many thanks Tripod!

Hey Tripod. It’s pretty common practice to use clips from other videos with acknowledgment in the form of on screen text only (e.g. a lower third). It would be prohibitive to seek permission for every clip used in this context. But I hear you on adding links to the videos in the description. That’s a good suggestion. Hopefully you’ll get some traffic to your channel from those that want to learn more about the conveyer feeder.
@TripodsGarage

@@ygk3d - As you mentioned, and I mentioned that it has been common practice as of late. However, does that make it right? No it doesn’t! If you really want to use another person’s content, then you should seek permission first. I received several DM’s about this video, some said that I wasn’t even mentioned. I reviewed the video and corrected them. I said that there was credit, but barely noticeable with a translucent lower 3rd. These really are not suggestions, it is best practices on how to use another creator’s content. This is no different than a mfg using your content for advertising that you didn’t give permission to use. I could really care less about traffic to my content. @@TripodsGarageHey Tripod, I would submit a copyright claim. It has been a number of days and nothing has changed. Plus I am sure this video has gained a large number of views since then without proper credit. It appears that he isn’t taking what you said seriously, and hasn’t done anything that you said. Seems that him and The Next Layer have something in common, they ride on the coattails of others, and using other creators content to boost their own. At least The Next Layer does everything that you mentioned. What this person did was totally inappropriate and intentional. He basically made it where you could barely see the tag in the lower left. He has other titles like the pricing information that are bold, and cannot miss. Why make lower left credits barely noticeable? Not verbally say who it is?!Then lastly not even tag these creators in the description? Pretty simple, he didn’t want anyone to notice it wasn’t his footage. I say submit your claim, otherwise this will continue to happen.

I was sorely disappointed with the falcon 2 40W laser. The spot size was terrible for something marketed with a "precision" mode. Hopefully they have come farther when it comes to their ability to combine beams. The offset that came with the machine also made engravings quite blurry out of the box. Much better experiences with other brands in my opinion.
@ygk3d
@ygk3d 5 месяцев назад
Interesting. I hadn’t considered that being an issue. Perhaps that’s why they include the 1.6W by default with the 40W bundle.
@2spark631
@2spark631 5 месяцев назад
@ygk3d the spot size is of great importance to me with detail engravings. I was hardly able to get a result that replicated my Snapmaker 10W laser(or 1.6W laser) in terms of quality/darkness. I am extremely happy with the Neje lasers that I bought, which outperform the Creality falcon 2 with half the power. I snagged a 10W Neje E40 and it's blown my expectations away after returning my creality machine.

They don't even advertise the laser dot size anywhere - or I wasn't able to find it. That's how you know it's rubbish.

Exactly. For inexperienced buyers, the fqct that they are not advertising their laser spot size is a red flag. So glad I was able to return mine for a full refind. Shop through 3rd party retailer instead of their official shop. 10 attempted purchases on Creality website, and it still refused to go through. @YaaLFH

Can i engrave stuff on aluminum with this?
@YaaLFH
@YaaLFH 5 месяцев назад
No. Wrong laser for the job. Diode lasers can't engrave metals. They can mark surface of some metals like (some) stainless steel or titanium, and remove the anodised layer from anodised aluminium, but not actually engrave.

One absolutely *_VITAL_* variable you didn't mention is each company's reputation for product repairability/customer service/etc. Especially for a business, initially saving a few hundred dollars is utterly irrelevant if you lose _thousands_ of dollars while a machine is down and waiting for parts to ship from China or--worse yet--has to be shipped away to a service centre.

Do you know what Creality does worse than any of it's competitors? Profiles. Making really good profiles for slicers takes a lot of time, effort and work. Creality being a bunch of lazy fookers expects it's users to spend hours and hours and tonnes of filament trying to work out the perfect setting, which is why Creality will never be a Bambu Labs or a Prusa. Creality sucks at detail. As long as it bangs out a new printer it doesn't give a toss about the user experience.

@@YaaLFH That's the compromise of a cheap printer to be honest. I have 2, a large format and a small printer. Both of which I have swapped the controllers out and upgraded in various ways.
