Lets face it ...Cream was AWESOME!! Who wouldn't like them? If you are my age (65) you would think that this band was unbelievable!! Hope this kind of music can continue for ever!
Loved and still love this song. I didn't care what the words meant back then. 15yrs old. At 64 understand it. Still not totally. A measure of under the influence in the writing.
Some LSD music. Brilliant. Beyond time. These geniuses are the time machines.....through the barrier of generations. What a year 1968. I hit the Earth in a white room black curtains born Cream
Besides a great arrangement and incredible musicians, this song can take on different meanings depending on your moods or conditions. Istening to it now and seeing the lyrics, I had no idea what it was saying when I used to listen to it many years ago !!
I made my wife cry. We are 40 somethings so we weren't around when this song came out. We have an unusual relationship in that she... pursued me to the point of "stalking." She essentially love bombed me because I was very very cynical about dating. We were married 6 months after dating and a year after meeting. We've been happily married now 23 years. Anyway we love all kinds of music and we were with some older friends at lunch after church. The conversation drifted into classic rock and we mentioned some bands we liked. At one point my friend asked, "If there was any classic rock song that would fit your spouse what would it be?" I thought about it for a long time and they were insistent that I say something (in jest). They were surprised when instead of saying something typical like "Sugar Sugar," I said "White Room" by Cream. They were like, WHAT?? I loaded up the words and said, that's her, along with the music... "....tired starlings... Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes Dawn light smiles on you leaving, my contentment... You said no strings could secure you at the station... I walked into such a sad time at the station As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd Consolation for the old wound now forgotten Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings" Some lyrics are self explanatory but here are a few addtl. explanations. Starlings flock, mumurate, but she doesn't. She ran towards me. Dawn insinuates a return even after a departure. She's onboard and tied to a passenger not a station. The shadows run away from her. "Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes" what else needs to be said here? She dresses the tired starlings (other women) as window dressing.
Easily Ginger Baker's best piece of work.. Too bad his brain was too simple and he had to think he needed to be a jazz drummer later in life to be taken seriously. He was a great drummer in Cream.
Duuude! Your artistic collage at the end is “fric-King Devine my friend!” I really can’t say enough about what you did with the end of that video. every one of those pictures was so spot on for the emotional feeling of this song. Very very cool
In the white room with black curtains near the station Black roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes Dawn light smiles on you leaving, my contentment I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves You said no strings could secure you at the station Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows I walked into such a sad time at the station As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd Consolation for the old wound now forgotten Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves
Great song! I am wondering who did the artwork at the end of the video. Is it all the same artist, or were there several different artists? Anybody know?

I really don’t know how to interpret/transpose/translate the beginning 5/4 part on guitar to make it sound sad 😢 like they do It has that mid eastern feel to it However I did come up with a fake one where I use a music box called a mellow Tron where I hit a 10th fret G-minor to a F,Dm then C Note: (The melatron is a 1960’s sound effect which makes your instrument sound like a violin with a cold 🥶) Then you get a second guitarist to play a B-flat single note A (single) F,E (single) You have them play those notes but vibrato each note and it seems to sound pretty close ☹️
Just an interpretation of the song meaning, not speaking for the artist. To simplify it, the white room is the good that the world has to offer, the black curtains are the veil of evil that doesn't allow you to see. If I had to guess, it's an eyeball. The pupil dialates when on certain drugs, making your eyes look black. The window with a black curtain. Pretty much like getting on the crazy train, stuck in a white padded cell.
@@samwellick1706 ... No, I didn't hear anything about that... All I heard was sleeping inside a train station, so to me, that's what the song was all about.
@@fkthedemlibscum7026 bruh... You yourself said "the lyrics are all metaphors" and so I'm telling what it alludes to in the metaphors. If you don't agree with it, fine. Don't bother replying after this
