Mexican American here, I love seeing different takes on agua fresca. It's a pretty versatile drink if you know how to make the different kinds, and taking it up a level adding cream or what not makes a fun drink even more fun
What other take is there besides lime or some herbs??? It doesn't really need anything else and should stay without any added sugar. Condensed milk is sweet enough.
@@pilarq7886Right! It’s VERY sweet. I would be shocked (and not in a good way) to see/hear that someone desired additional sugar! I myself am a fan of the not-milky, strawberry (or most any fruit) agua de fresca. I’ll simply add water, strawberries (I like frozen, to give it a slight slushy vibe), a bit of ice (if fresh, not frozen fruit is used), and a very minimal amount of sugar. I go for a light, refreshing style drink, that is kind of a lightly-flavored, slightly-slushee drink. Light on the sweetener and not a huge amount of fruit. Not a smoothie thickness by any means, but rather just-a-bit more body than plain water has. Mmmmm I want one so much!!
I just made this drink. It is delicious. It doesn't need anything else. I love that this recipe doesn't require a bunch of ingredients. The condensed milk elevates the strawberry flavor x1000. This drink is so refreshing. 💓😋🤤
I used 14 Oz can of condensed milk 4 cups milk 3 cups water plus 1 cup 2 lbs of strawberry That will make a whole full pitcher of it, and it's absolutely delicious
I've only seen one or two others in the comment section point this out, but for those who aren't aware, this is not an Agua Fresca. Agua Frescas are simply water + a fruit of your choice (in Mexico typically watermelon, piña, or passion fruit) but really any fruit will do. That's it, nothing else. Consider it a poor man's spritzer if you will. But once you start adding other ingredients, such as this video, it because a smoothie or milkshake.
Well, at least where I'm from, this would actually be considered agua fresca, as weird as it sounds. Yes, it does not have water, but agua de horchada, as the guy in the top coment said, does not have water either. Either way, it looks good. Edit: I actually haven't seen any passion fruit agua fresca. Ig it depends on the city you're in
I don’t do dairy, but coconut cream seems like a good alternative to the condensed milk. Edit: guys I’m sorry, I mean CREAM OF COCONUT. It’s exactly like sweetened condensed milk.
Sure - if you want to make a watery strawberry shake. Agua Fresca is essentially a “lemonade” style drink made from any other fruit. So with strawberries, it would be a strawberry-aid. No milk included.
It's celebrated by the US cuz the French planned to divide and conquer Mexico, if they happened to succeed, they were going to continue their tactics and continue to the north and do the same in U.S. but thanks to the Mexican people who fought throughout Mexico against them, overcame, weakened and discouraged the French and their allies to abandoned their mission. The French underestimated the Mexican people, because it was not only the Mexican military who fought but also the farmers both men and women.
This was also when the U.S. decided to officially declare the Monroe Doctrine an official policy. The U.S. sent funds and aid to purchase weapons to the Mexican resistance, despite engaging in the Mexican-American War 20 years prior and just coming out of the Civil War. According to online sources, Cinco de Mayo was first celebrated in California.

Thanks for clarifying brother! Tbh we don’t even make such a big deal about it in Mexico as much as it is here in the US. I see it as Mexican st Patrick’s day 😂
I really didn't want to say that, but I'm glad someone else said it for me I'll be honest. It kinda felt that way but I didn't wanna be rude or offend anyone because this is definitely a more touchy subject about culture and I respect others
For those who don’t know Americans celebrate cinco de Mayo because if the Mexicans didn’t win the war against the French than the French would come after American next and since America just got out of a war it was week so Mexico winning the war against the French stoped the French from taking over the USA
I'm Mexican and I appreciate the history and information you shared. Of course, the nod to our culture with this delicious version of agua fresca too! 🇲🇽 🔥
@@Svar3n2527ah you ain’t never had one before. The shredded gives a different texture while still being creamy and without it tasting like a milkshake. It’s really good. I say shredded cause I blend my ice with it
Just made it. Got to say, one of the best if not the best thing i have ever made/drank! Thanks for putting me on. This for sure deserves a like and a subscribe
@@kennywarp Well, here in Guadalajara we "celebrate" 5 de mayo too. Kids in schools do acting shows, in some work places there are little parties too, and at my U we have freeday. I'm not even talking about 15/16 September haha, that's a whole different thing.
1. Fresh strawberries - topped, rinsed, puréed with water and strained 2. In a pitcher, add condensed milk and whole milk and mix to combine 3. To serve, add ice and fresh strawberries in a glass, mix the aqua fresca before pouring into the chilled cup and enjoy
Strawberry milk will ALWAYS be my favorite comfort. Thank you for sharing this Edit: I meant strawberry milk in general, Agua Fresca is a drink that I enjoy, but it's not what I'm speaking of. It's just that it reminds me of strawberry milk. I apologize for making you feel offended.
Me as an American, I just notice that even though many Americans act as if being different is bad, many of us actually appreciate and love learning about others with different roots. Celebrating is celebrating. You really don’t need an excuse to celebrate. Celebrate the fact you woke up.
@jacobross735 same continent different countries. Americans are called Americans because our country is 'The United States of America'. But, Everybody in both South and North America are Americans, yet they call themselves Puerto Rican, Canadian, Mexican, etc. Immigrants are just people who go from one country to another country. Immigrant isn't an insult, unless you use it as such and no one here did.
Shangri-La is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard- the lyrics are like a sensible poem, the colours and concept used for the MV, actually even the way the members visuals shine... Just WOW
His voice sounds like he's one of those narrators of horror animated short stories on yt that I watch a lot. I've always wondered why I enjoy watching them, and I guess it's because of how calm and soothing the narrators' voices are.
I know you probably mean you emigrated from Mexico or are part of the Mexican diaspora, but “As a Mexican who even goes and visits Mexico” is unintentionally really funny. Uno esperaría que un mexicano al menos visitara México, ya que la mayoría de los mexicanos viven en México. 😂

I’m SO glad I finally got a chance to sit down and watch this. I think Casper could 100% be rebooted for an audience today. I mean just look at Nickelodeon’s Monster High series/movies/cartoon or Disney’s descendants series or even the Disney Junior cartoon Vamperella. I feel like kids could really latch onto a well-written Casper series, cartoon or LA.

As an American my family celebrates it for my dad's brother (my uncle is Mexican, no they arent blood related) it was really just tradition with him and my dad that got brought into our family
Idk why we celebrate it either lol. In our Spanish class our teacher taught us about it and we got to throw a little party. I have Mexican ancestry but unfortunately didn't experience much of the culture growing up. So I like to celebrate to also feel close to my roots and to appreciate other cultures! Life is so much more exciting when there's variety!
The French could have attacked the US next if they had conquered Mexico, and the US was vulnerable at that point in time. Since Mexico pushed the French out, the US didn't have to fight for its own existence.

This was actually an advertising scheme from Dos Equis back in the mid 80's. Dos Equis made 3 commercials promoting their product on the 5th of May ..."Cinco de Mayo", since then it has (for the most part) been associated with Mexican Independence.
Nerd here, the reason why America celebrates cinco de mayo is because by Mexico winning against France they stopped a potential French invasion in one of USA's weakest times (The civil war)
No the reason is because there were a bunch of Mexicans in California who heard Mexican farmers beat the shit out of the Napoleon's army(Another Napoleon) in Mexico.
Thankyou for educating me my own personal opinion as a true Mexican everyone is allowed to celebrate 5 de mayo life is beautiful just as much as I like 4 of July holidays are for everyone my friend❤ again thankyou for educating me in this I appreciate you
