There appears to be a shiny area where the Dogs head will be. Can you explain, what you have used, and why?
@AnimalArtbyLAW

Hi, I masked the area off with Frisket just to avoid any overspill. I have videos on here showing how and why too

Amazing and exactly what is the mask that is laid down to protect the drawing from overspill?

Oh wow I have a lot to learn! I've never seen the stencil thing you put down over your pencil sketch to protect it. I would love some PanPastels but Ouch! They are expensive! I'm dying to do some artwork in pastels though. Soft pastels as I tried oil pastels and really didn't like them. Yet another great vid from you Lisa! I'm looking at a new table for my art studio. Hobbycraft have a nice one in but I'm not sure its big enough. I can get the same table much cheaper elsewhere but that's where its easiest to see lol. I love your ring by the way! Seriously I could sit in a corner and watch you work for hours on end! I wish I'd of had a chance to of been taught by you, your just an amazing artist! Really helpful vid!💖

Do you ever spray the PanPastels after you've done your background. Thanks for all you show and do

Hi Lisa I have a finished piece that I decided I don't like just on the plain white background Do you think adding a pan pastel background would be achievable I am worried about spoiling the drawing

I’ve never seen the stencil that you laid over your sketch before? You said it was “frisket” in the video, is that like masking fluid that you would use with watercolor? Where can I purchase this from and what is the actual brand-name that you use? Thank You 🙂

Do you have to spray finish on pan pastels ?
@AnimalArtbyLAW
@AnimalArtbyLAW 7 месяцев назад
No, I never use any fixative as it can darken and ruin your pastel work. As long as you use paper/supports that are designed to grip pastel and also mat and frame behind glass there is never an issue

I just got some pan pastels, so how happy was I when your video was on my queue! One question : do you spray a fixative over the pastel so it won’t smudge? Is so which ?
@AnimalArtbyLAW
@AnimalArtbyLAW 5 лет назад
Yay, great timing! I've a couple more on here too. No, never use fixative. The papers I use are designed to hold the pastel in place and they do so incredibly well

If you want to use fixative, the best on the market is Spectrafix. It must be used in a flairosol spray bottle to spray evenly.
