Hi, very nice work and details. But please stop selling a $30 model for $6.99. You make our work completely worthless. I guess you don't need that sell. You are preventing people who need this.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial and the learning, I already made my rug following all the steps, now I want to know if there's anyway to optimize using hair and fur? any one knows? I want a beautifull rug that I can use in any environment without killing my render time
@BartVlogs

Or you have fur Or you worry about render time. You can't have both. Maybe upgrade your CPU?

Just finished trying to recreate a similar rug because this one was amazing (thank you for the tutorial) but hair and fur are rendering semi-transparent in Corona 6. Is there any way to fix this? I have sent "effects" to geometry and mr prim but it stays the same.

Thank you for the tutorial. It was a bit fast but nevertheless very informative. Did you create the Burlap texture by yourself? If not, could you please tell me, where you got the texture from? That would be really helpful and nice.
@PikcellsUK
@PikcellsUK 3 года назад
We already had a burlap texture in our library. It might be advantageous to look up how to create your seamless textures from photographs so you'll know for future.

This could have easily been an hour tutorial that everybody would be happy to watch, instead is a speed marathon that most people are unable to follow. The effort is appreciated though...

The displacement maps are available here www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/902802?referral=LifelikeForms They were in our library when we created the original model, our 3D artist thought they were originally free downloads, but it looks like they're paid for items now (though there are some preview samples in that link which may work as alternatives).

I missed the step when you have to use the relax tool in uvw unwrap. You changed the setting between "relax by polygon angle" and "edge angle" so that it becomes rectangular again in the uvw map. But mine won't turn back into a rectangular shape. Does anyone know how?
@PikcellsUK
@PikcellsUK 4 года назад
Keep switching between the two until its relaxed, the shape doesn't matter as long as it evenly distributes the UVWs. There are two tools in unwrapping called reshape elements try straighten selection or relax until flat. If you're still having trouble then look for tutorials on unwrapping.

I created my own displacement images. But when I import them, nothing is changed. Even after clicking gizmo in displacement and moving it around. Tried different displacement images with more whitish color. The result is the same. No change in displacement.

Still can’t understand the 4-layer part. What’s it for?
@PikcellsUK
@PikcellsUK 4 года назад
Splitting the rug into four parts lets you create a base burlap texture (like the underside of a rug) which is visible between the wool fibres and at the edges. Layer 2, 3 and 4 are different hair and fur materials (white, black and brown) allowing you to control these better and mask where you want the different materials to be shown on the rug.
