Yes ma'am! I shouldn't have said, "the only way to do it." There are 3 ways to do it. I use the curve text feature in other videos and really a lot on my projects, but the only *exact* way to do it is aligning text to a traced line. I can never seem to get the curve text feature exactly and proportionately aligned. Thanks for the comment!

Really great information. I have a home built 100 watt CO2 laser with a 18" X 36" bed. Been using RDWorks (came free with the DSP controller) and just from watching 2 of your videos, I have to get lightburn now. You make it look so easy. Need to ask why you didn't use your CO2 laser to make this???? It should of made the cut in one pass and no burning (if you have it at the right cut speed). BTW, I gave away my home built diode laser after I built the CO2 one. The CO2 is 1000% better than the diode that I had. How do you do backlash compensation on you diode laser??? Does lightburn have in it somewhere?? Most that I've seen don't have it and that is one of the many reasons I got rid of mine. Thanks for doing these very informative videos Rodney
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 2 года назад
I was in transition from one shop to another at the time of this video, so the Co2 was in storage. Besides, I have a large amount of diode laser uses watching so I use both. You can choose to "hide backlash" on the laser tab in the Optimization Settings, and adjust the eccentric nuts, and adjust the belts or any combination of the three or all to eliminate backlash.

Hello so glad I found you channel. I'm a crafter and I sew , I do sublimation and also vinyl and I wanted to add something else to my arsenal. I literally just received my laser in the mail. I got the kentok tool LE400pro. I don't even know where to begin to be honest. I'm familiar with inkscape but not light burn at all. In fact I haven't even downloaded it and played with it yet. I haven't even set up my laser yet. It doesn't have air assist or the (waffle) thing that I've seen is an option. How important are those ? Super excited and nervous at the same time lol I've watched a fee of your videos and seen you get your cutting boards from dollar general or dollar tree (I have to go back and watch your videos again lol) but where else do you get your materials? Any advice would be really helpful . Do you have any do's and don'ts videos for us brand new newbies so we don't ruin our machines or more importantly so we don't burn our house down ? Thanks so much

Is there a reason why you wouldn't just set the clock mech hole to a cut instead of burn so you didn't have to drill it out later? Where did you get your elevated base plate? by the way, listening to you reminds me of watching a Bob Ross video while he paints. Very soothing!
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 2 года назад
I could have cut it with the laser, but I had to use the drill press anyway to drill out the area where the mechanism sits on the back so it didn't protrude from the wall too far. Links for the cut plate are in the description.

Hi rich first I would like to thank you for these videos I've learnt so much from them. I make a lot of clocks but out of old vinyl records and I engrave the numbers on and I've noticed some come out lighter then the others but now wen I do them I change the cutting setting to fill shapes individually. It's a nice burn and does it knocks the print time down too as there's no travel time. Not sure if u have covered this yet but if not hoped it helped or anyone else watching who didn't know about reducing the travel time

Why drill out the center when you could have just put it on the red layer and cut it out? Also the curve on the bottom of the graphic that you used is slightly bigger than the top so the text matches the bottom but not the top. Maybe use the curve text feature instead? Great video was always. I know I'm being pretty on the comments.

I don't cut the center hole on clocks John because It sometimes leaves scorch marks, so I prefer to use the drill press for a clean hole. Hi Rich. I see you mentioned in your video about washing the burn off. What do you mean by that. As I’ve just sanded it off.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 2 года назад
You could sand it too! I actually spray it with water and let the soot stain the wood first. The burn stays blacker that way.

Downloaded the clock from from this site, looked in the preview to see it cut , clicked out of preview and started the run, when it started to run I then noticed that the run time was just over 7hrs, the settings were ; label 2000/70 pwr CO1 2000/80.0 and T1 Tool frame. It seem's a slow project to do, 7hrs is a long time, was these the settings that you used to make the clock? The end product does not look as tidy as your's, I am using a Falcon 10wmachine. If I make another is there any way of cleaning it up and cutting down the run time? Have no idea how to send a picture to show you. Looking forward to a helpful reply. Other video's of yours I am following are great, keep on going. Was your cut done on Laser or Diode?.

Thank for the reply, I am looking at the" Cuts/Layers"on the first item where you have put under the" # " sign it reads "lables, next LAYER is OO in Black and Mode is Line. How do I change tothe outer black line to cut? Sorry to be a pain in the butt but I am still learning how to do all this, being an OAP the brain is not so fast. The rest of the setting that are on the Cut/Layers have CO1, 01 in blue and last is T1 in Orange with Tool . There ia a box that says Frame. I hope that we are both on the same page for all of this, Thanks again for all you help and patience to an old man. regards Ian Mallett.
