Thank you so much. I spent 10 hours yesterday making designs mixed with images and text....but I thought the text was automatically svg... I was so disappointed when I put the usb in the machine today. But it won't be too hard to go edit them now. I really appreciate you taking the time to make and post this. 🙏
You are my new best friend!! I have been trying to understand this program for a couple of weeks now and with this one video I now have my first (super simple "Hello") SVG file! Thank you so much!!
I thought your tutorial was incredibly easy to follow. I enjoyed how you took your time to explain things. It worked for me and like @michelle.... said that was an effective 9 minutes.
Thank you so much for this video!!! It helped so much and I’ve never used Inkscape and you’ve made it so easy to have me use it! I do have one question though, how would I be able to change for instance if I want to make a name svg how would I be able to change that for other people’s names??? Or do I have to be making separate svg files???
Hello, I spent the whole day trying to make a simple logo text for my daughter. I’m new to this. I used Inkscape, main font for my glyphs, and cricut canvas. Every time I try to download it to canvas it says there is an auto flow text and it comes in blank. I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any idea? Thank you.
I have been trying to do this for 3 days, looking at tutorials and manuals, almost frustrated to tears! I followed your instructions and poof! Done! Thank you!!!!
Omg, you are simply the best. I too got started on making svg files and all I want to do is more more and more. Thank you so much. You are a credit to the craft world, keep up the great videos.
Thank you for this video, Natalie. I came across this video when searching for a way to write on Cricut Design Space without it just being just the outline. I was able to create a svg with the message I want to write on my card in inkscape following this video. However, when I load it to Design Space, and change it to draw, it changes the letters to just the outlines again...ugh! Did I do something wrong? Or is this not the right way to accomplish this? TIA
No you didn’t do anything wrong hun. Cricut does that on a lot of fonts there are a few in design space that are designed to be single lines but for the most part you’re gonna get an outline:(
Natalie, I love how clear your instructions are. I finally got it uploaded to design space , but am I able to ungroup this SVG and move words or change font once it’s open on the canvas? My group and Ungroup options are not highlighted to use.
@ I followed these steps, and was able to get it into Design Space although it didnt hold the dimensions I made it, in Inkscape. Any ideas? I need to do bulk labels and trying to work out the easiest options :) Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Shari Ferrara if you select union you can’t ungroup it. But if you click group instead of union you will be able to ungroup once you upload in Inkscape. However, if you have a long phrase, the file will be much larger when you group rather that union, so it will take longer to upload and edit your svg in design space.
Rhi M yes you’ll need to open your project in Inkscape and change the document properties. I believe I have a video on this as well. I will make a more in-depth video on this soon if there’s not one already.
@@rhim3068 ok, so go to the upper left corner and click file, this brings down a menu. Look for “Document properties” click this and it will bring up a box. At the top where it says “General”, change the display units from mm to inches, next under “custom size”, under “units” change this from mm to inches also. Now you will “scale “ click in the box beside “scale x” and type 1 then click enter. This sets your scale to work well with Cricut design space. Make sure you do this before creating anything you make for Design Space. Another tip I may suggest is to always choose to show page boarder, this shows up on your document work space as an outline of a square. Once you’re ready to save your project, if you make sure that your image in inside that square, it will show up easily on design space, if you aren’t within that square when you save, your image may be difficult to find in design space canvas. I don’t know why, but this is my solution for creating files that are consistently sized and easily located. I hope this helps.
