So glad I came across your video. From every video I’ve watched about this plant ( that I’m also new too) that it’s suppose to dry out completely between watering. When I bought it, it came with a self watering pot. So thank you for keeping me from going crazy and racking my brain. Great video and idea. Love it!! ❤

it's really beautiful and unique 😍😍 I think begonia's root don't mind sitting in water either . it's one of those plants that can stay in water for whole it's life. I have a maculata sitting on top of my aquarium, it's roots come out of the pot and are submerged in aquarium water and it's enjoying it.

My cane begonias often get powdery mildew, if I group them too close. Really tricky to notice on the angel wing leaves. Blasting w/kitchen sprayer + wiping down canes makes it go away but sometimes I have to come at it w/a Neem/water solution, though I think you can buy products specifically for powdery mildew. .

Your begonia is gorgeous! I bought one at Lowe’s a few months ago and I gradually killed it😢😢😢😢 I couldn’t read her… I was not sure if she was getting too much water or not enough. Watching your video… I think I’ll get another one, put it in pon and see what happens. Thanks for your clip. I do like them and look for them.

Gosh Dana, this is absolutely amazing. How do u even have time to wipe each of the leaves, is a wonder to me. I have a begonia maculata but it produces new leaves that are crinkly and curled up, looks really unhealthy despite giving them bright indirect sunlight and consistent watering schedule. I really don't know why, they just look dry all the time. Now, it's even worse, the new leaves are super small and light green, the back of each leaf is not even fully red...have u ever experienced this? Yours certainly look very healthy!

So in the self watering pots you have do you just top up the nutrients. I did a ph test and the PH increased substantially, so I empty it and put in fresh nutrients. You clearly wouldn't do this with that large pot. Do you wait for it to empty

I don’t do PH testing in any of my self watering planters or use a 3 part nutrient solution. I just micro dose foliage pro at every watering. I try not to over complicate things.
