Oddly, out of all of your content this video inspired me the most. I came across your channel by accident, and from this video I learned about passing shapes as arguments in subroutines, and boy did that one little fact open a whole new realm of coding possibilities that I still use to this day. Thank you for teaching me this, and for inspiring me.

This tutorial is amazing. I am a speech pathologist having to create activities for teletherapy and your posts are perfect.Question: How can I make it so all pages in the power point use the same functions (i.e., paintbrush reflects color selected). I want to create various picture slides to be colored within the same powerpoint presentation. Thanks again!
You can insert a new slide, then insert a new "module" in the vba section, copy the same coding script and with changing the number of the slide. I hope it was clear.
This video was so helpful! I made the cutest angry bird coloring page for one of my clients. I am a graduate student studying to become an SLP, so I will definitely be sharing this tutorial with my cohort!
It is amazing how much one small error can throw you off for HOURS! I have spent a long time trying to get this to work. I have rewatched this video, in its entirety, no less than 6 times. I kept looking back at my code, back to the video, to the names of the objects, I couldn't figure it out. I was missing an "s" at the end of "slides" on the applycolour sub. Thank you for this great video. I plan on using this to create some great learning opportunities for students in literacy and mathematics.

@@TheTechTrain You are more than welcome! Could you point me in the right direction for being able to use multiple slides in one file? I copy the paint pots over to the various slides, use the same code, knowing that the slide number in the code has to change for the brush, but I'm hitting a wall. Or is this a much bigger questions than I perceive it to be?

Hello thank you for the excellent, well explained tutorial. I have created your powerpoint and it works fine however I have added some new dimensions and would like some advice/ tips/ help with the VBA code if possible. I have added animations to the shapes and also scrolling backgrounds which use the "APPLY COLOUR" macro. However the shapes move back to their original positions rather than stay as one continuous flowing animation when you click on them to apply colours. The colour works but the shape disappears and returns to its starting position. Ideally I would like to colour the shapes as the animations move. I have designed many different scenes and objects using the shape tools and upgraded the palette with more colours but I'm stumped on the above. Can you offer me any advise or do you know an additional code that can be added to the existing code to get around this issue. Thanks for the tutorial very clearly explained.

Alt + F11 is only giving me the brightness option. Couldn't you do the codes using insert then action to hyperlink the 2 objects together? Or is there a different way of opening the code window?

Yes, just add a button that links to a block of code called 'sub reset()' , then use the '.pickup' method to choose plain white, then use the .apply' method to each shape in the image.

This tutorial is awesome!!! It was exactly what I was looking for and you were great explaining the steps. I have went back to this video several times now. I was hoping that you can help me. I have now created this coloring page as part of a larger powerpoint document. I have clipart in the rest of the document that I need to protect from copyright. When I password protect the document from editing, it makes my coloring page to where it is no longer functional. Is there a code that I can add in that would exclude that one page from the password protection. Or do you have any other suggestions or tips? FYI I am using a Mac and the developer tab is not a feature that I have on my powerpoint application. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Hi, thanks so much for those great explanations. What if i would like many drawings to give the students on multiple pages? How would i have to specify it where it's says : .Slides(1)? Merci! EDIT : I found a solution!
Please help. I got the first part done correctly with the coding, so when I put my cursor over the color it changes the color of the paint brush. However when I try and do the second part with the shapes of the butterfly if I click over a shape the hand does show up as if there is coding but the color doesn't change. What have I done wrong? The code is exactly how it appears from the video
It may be that the shape hasn't been named correctly? Or is part of a group? Make sure the shape hasn't been grouped, and double-check the names. If neither of those things help, feel free to email the file and I'll take a quick look.

Yes, but it wouldn't be able to be coloured. You'd need to import an image you want to use, and then draw your shapes over the top of it, using it as a guide, and then when you're done, delete it.
Without seeing your own file it's difficult to know what it is you've done differently that's stopping it from working I'm afraid. I do offer my Patreons the opportunity to email files to me for me to look at and try to fix, if that would help?
