I've got the Slider Pro the earlier version where the motor is a separate unit, as well as the Flex Head, no Motion Box though. And now I'm being reminded why it would be such a great addition to the setup. I do agree with the commenters who think Edelkrone is expensive but they're not overpriced. It seems they're making products for pros, with pro quality and craftsmanship. Impeccable quality.

Hi Dan, thanks for your video. I just bought the Edelkrone Sliderone v2 for an assignment tomorrow but i am having some problems. The app takes over the camera but no photos are being made. Do I have to adjust the settings of my Sony camera? In which way? Thank you so much. Best wishes from Freiburg.

Great video man. Your videos have gotten so damn good. You should do a how-to video showing how to actually do these timelapses and what settings within the camera and slider get these results.

Good video but not enough focus on the titled products or the shots they produced. I have the SliderOne Pro and Motion box. They’re great as they’re super compact for travel and produce some great results. Yes the slide is short so you have to work to get some good shots. I had a longer slider which offered opportunity to produce slides with bigger impact, but given its size I rarely took it away with me ... which sort of defeats the point right? Once you see the quality of the Edelkrone products and what the app does you’ll realise it’s worth the $

Do you mind sharing what settings for FPS you used on your Sony A7III?
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
I literally shot at every frame rate the camera allowed between 24-125fps lol. Just depends on the moment and if I want 4k which limits my frame rates. I shoot on the standard profile with the contrast dialed down which is fine for me as long as I keep my highlights safe. I always have Zebras on as a result. I've never been a fan of S-log2 and the other profiles have been hit/miss for me with skin tones.

Hi Dan, i would like to ask you something, when you shoot timelapse with the shutter of 2 seconds or slower, while your motorized slider moves don't be your shots look blury? How dou you get on this problem ?
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 4 года назад
So the slider can connect to your camera so that the slider moves, stops, takes a picture while stopped, and then moves again. So the slider is never actually moving during the taking of the picture. Great question!

Dan I just heard about the new Smartta SliderMini which sells for $259 and has a built in battery. The Edelkrone is very nice but it's way too pricey for me. You should have contacted me I would have gone up to RMNP and shot with you since I live near Boulder.
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
Yeah, the only issue with the SliderMini is it is JUST a slider. You don't have the pan head option or L brackets that allow 2 axis or even 3 axis motion all controlled together from the app. But as a basic slider, the Edelkrone is up there in price. Completely forgot you lived out in Colorado!!! Dang, that would have been absolutely awesome. I definitely want to get back there...probably just after winter so I'll have to get with you then! I don't think I have the stamina to be up there during winter. I was freezing and went in August lol

Nice! I do recommend it and still use it. The only thing to keep in mind is that because the slider is small, you will need to be close to a foreground object to really see the parallax effect. I really wish they made an 18 inch slider

Do you still need external intervalometer for timelapse? Or all is built in edelkrone app?
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
It's all built in to the app. They have cables that attach either the SliderONE or motionbox to your camera and then the edelkrone will take care of all your timelapse options. It's SOOO much better than using an intervalometer. Once you hit go on the timelapse, your phone no longer needs to be connected either so you can leave it shooting

@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
Thank you so much Ben! I shoot standard PP but have the contrast down a bit. Still grades really well if you watch the highlights which clip easily when you don't shoot S-log. I just keep the zebras on and I'm good and don't have to spend 3hrs bringing color and contrast back in to Slog footage

@learningcameras

They actually sell a longer version called the slide plus that's exactly that! Gives you a few ft of slide and has an add on module for the motorized part. You can use the same motionbox I showed off in this video with that longer slider too!

Good video, thank you Dan. I would prefer way more of the shots in a video like this to be shots where the Edelkrone was used. Seemed like half (or more) of the shots in this video were slo-mo handheld, drone or gimbal - none of which used the Edelkrone gear. Only offering the advice to be helpful.
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 2 года назад
Thanks! So the downside to this product is that you only get a few inches of movement so it isn't something you use all the time. Actually right now I use it a lot for product shots of things like watches and lenses...things that don't require too much movement

Best 7 minute commercial I've ever seen! Though, I didn't notice many of the segments showing the effect of the slider. It seemed as though the panning box has the most obvious effect when shooting wide angle shots, even with stuff in the foreground. Interesting tripod!

Question: it's so tiny that I can just punch in and get similar results right?? Comment: your videos have gotten much better. Nice work!
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
For a timelapse you can get a similar look by punching in but it's still not the same. Plus you can never replicate the additional pan axis with parallax. The movement only seems small because I'm shooting massive landscapes but I use this for filming weddings and for detail shots, I only need about 4 inches of travel for amazing slides

@1xmedia766
@1xmedia766 5 лет назад
Just watched your video through and the timelapse shots are amazing ...but normal video seems to be a bit jumpy and I saw why when you showed the camera doing a pan & slide at 1:54 just look at your camera and nothing else in this part of your video ....is it not smooth ?
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
Occasionally there was a jumpy part in the slide but mostly that was due to us getting pounded by 35mph winds at 12,000ft in the mountains. I am noticing the broll shot seems a bit jumpy as well but trust me, that's not in the footage. That was probably Premiere since I sped up the shot a bit.
@david_potvin15
@david_potvin15 5 лет назад
Kind of too much going on in this video. Is it a product review? A cinematic edit? I have no problem with combining the two, but feel a clear separation within the video is needed. The back and forth lost my attention when all I wanted to learn about was the slider.
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
Yeah, it wasn't quite a "review" since the company paid for the travel costs so I didn't feel comfortable doing my typical review on a product that I could be seen as biased towards so I made it more fun/travel/cinematic intro to the slider. Hope that gives some context. I'm pretty picky about having absolutely no financial affiliation with a company for a video with "review" in the title
@scottvillalobos8453
@scottvillalobos8453 5 лет назад
Your slider is as short as the clips you produced with it. The motion box is a nice touch, but without it the slider is too short.
@learningcameras
@learningcameras 5 лет назад
You do have to have an object fairly close to make it work for landscapes like this and the slides are short. However, it literally fit INSIDE my backpack so good luck doing that with something that has a longer range. Tradeoff for sure. But obviously you don't need 3ft slides for most things
@scottvillalobos8453
