I’ve saved this for reference. So much information, including the info on the glimmer sprays. And of course pulled some cardboard from recycling. All my husband can do is shake his head. We compromise. He has his shoe and cap collection, I have my cardboard. As always TFS.

Thanks so much Robin - I'm glad this was helpful for you. In my experience a cardboard collection is way more useful than a shoe and cap collection ;) But as you say ... compromise ... it's the name of the game :)

Oh - what marvelous effects! The gesso one reminded me of textured plaster walls that I remember as a child - until you added color - and then - it took on a wonderful life of it's own. The watercolor and acrylic ones are more subtle - but I think I'll start with those since I have the materials on hand. I learn so much from every video you share, Kylie. Thanks so much!

This is a great and very informative video, full of ideas. I tried the PVA glue crackle technique on a canvas painting as I wanted some crackle effects - used base layer of dry dark acrylic paint with PVA on top then a layer of lighter acrylic paint. When dry I got lovely crackle effects. Left it for over 24 hours but when I glazed over the crackle with more paint the crackle lifted and peeled off. Wondered if it's really not designed for layering over with more wet layers?

Kylie, I love your techniques which are always so creative and beautiful. In this video, however, it is so sped up it's hard to follow some of what you do. For esample, at the 3:12 point I had to go back several times before I could pause the video on the PVA glue bottle, as I didn't hear you say that was what you were using. I have low vision and therefore must also depend heavily on verbal information, so if you could slow down your videos, it would be of great help. For those who see well, they can speed them up on the RU-vid settings. Just my two cents. Thank you for your consideration.

Just commented and had a "aha, dummy (to self)" if others can speed up the video playback speed, YOU (meaning ME) can slow it down. So I put it on 75% speed and it has slowed it down to a just right speed. Sorry I didn't think of that before I wrote the previous comment.
@honestly8015
@honestly8015 2 года назад
Gosh, I may have fallen into the totally annoying category, but. . . Apparently reducing the playback feed only slows down your voice. The movements continue to be very fast and hard to follow.
@KylieCooStudio
@KylieCooStudio 2 года назад
Hi Diane - I'm answering all three of your comments in this one response. First of all let me say that you are not in any way annoying. I am always more than happy to receive constructive feedback and will always try my best to ensure the videos I make are accessible for my viewers. I am so sorry that you are having problems with the video. Using the speed button should slow everything down (and I think it can be slowed down as much as to 25%) but I have certainly noticed that when I have slowed down other peoples' videos the film does not run smoothly as it would if it had been saved and uploaded at normal speed. It can appear quite jerky when slowed-down. I will double check what speed I put this video up at - if it was at 4 times speed then from here on unless it is something that is very repetitive I will try not to put it any faster than 2 times speed (often 2 times can look at normal speed for me!) The optimum speed for a video is always a dilemma for me - it's the old story of some people liking one thing and other's the exact opposite. If I was to leave at normal speed them most of my videos would be at least one hour long and some would be way longer than that. I could of course do that but cut a lot of the process out and again the dilemma is that some people like me to show the full process. I do try and say what products I am using and if it's something like PVA glue I don't usually give the brand but going forward I will make sure I give more detail of each item I use. The other thing I have been doing recently is that when I show the product to the camera I have been freeze framing the item and what that does is to show the product for around 4 seconds as a still shot. For a while I was listing all the items I used in the description box but I felt it was better all round to show it on the screen. Would it help you if as well as saying the full name of the product and using the freeze frame if I also put a label across the bottom of the screen with the name of the product? Please do let me know if there is anything else specific that you think might help.
