I don't care about the NSFW stuff, but I am really interesting in using this for a story I'm writing. Imagine having the ability to actually interact with the characters you are writing about. You can put them in different situations and ask them what they are going to do, or how they feel. This could be such a unique way to create stories. Amazing! Thanks for sharing this.

That's what I'm using it for. I made a character sheet for the main character in a book idea that I had, programmed in a scenario from near the beginning of the book, and have played through through a bit. I do have to inject some stage direction to keep the plot moving along and will need to edit some things, but it is coming up with encounters along the way. I made the character from scratch directly in TavernAI after watching through this video once using some of the tips, now I'm going over it again more slowly taking notes so I can go back and make revisions to the character in the editor he recommended to make him even better.

The biggest thing I've done to temper my expectations with AI roleplay chat is to realize we're at the short-story phase, not the grand epic series of novels phase. The context breaks down way too easily for it to have any concept of verisimilitude over time. It can manage one-off encounters, not life long companions. I have found that the quality of the responses is heavily dependent on your input, you have to guide the conversation pretty strongly to keep it on track, and I've found that if you take the time to "correct" the first few responses into the format and style you want, it will pick up on it. Don't hesitate to alter and modify it's responses the way you see fit, it's certainly not yet capable of recognizing it's own flaws and self correcting. Also, don't be afraid to scrap a response and get a new one, sometimes you just get a dud seed. I have really been enjoying the "impersonate" feature to guide my own responses into a direction I would not have thought about, it's interesting what the model will come up with from time to time. It almost always needs an edit or two as well, but can come up with some interesting variations, and often descriptive language I would not have considered otherwise. All in all I'm having a lot of fun with this new hobby, but I can still see a lot of room for improvement. The good new is that improvement is happening at a very rapid rate. It won't be long before all the drawbacks are figured out and solutions implemented.

Both Vicuna and WizardLM have pretty good uncensored versions out now. At the moment they're working out how to get the best quality out of the smallest, cheapest to train model sizes, but they say they're planning on scaling up to doing 30B versions. Once we have 30B uncensored versions then a roleplay fine-tune on top of that'll make a pretty epic model. Context windows will get bigger too. There have been some interesting papers on that topic lately. It's all just a matter of time.

Part of the issue is that the data these LLMs are trained and finetuned on is often incoherent or shitty. I believe it is finally time to put my plan into motion to create the ultimate maximum-quality ero-dataset. Though the data processing will take a long time.

@@Smytjf11 I'm extracting the text from all the known-good erotic text games (such as CoC), then throwing it at an LLM passage by passage to turn it into a conversation between user/assistant of a format good to use for LLM training. THEN I throw it at LLM more and let it create variations of the conversations. It requires the LLM I use to be good enough at following instructions, not sure which one is currently best. Considering that CoC alone has text spanning more than 100 hours of reading time, it should end up being enough data in the end to actually make something amazing with and not be hyperfocused on heteronormative vanilla bs. It will need a bit more figuring out the details, but I think my approach is solid.

Yeah I was messing around with these, but the responses are a bit limited and the lack of context keeps it from being what I'm looking for. I'm sure someday soon we'll have the ability to input everything a certain character has said in their canonical series, with the canonical voice being used to create a voice model, being able to reference every event and stance that they had in the actual material, but just a list of qualities is so far from that future that it doesn't really feel like you're talking to the character you chose very much. Soon, I'm sure. But not yet. Honestly, I'd settle for an uncensored version of chat GPT that can write some spicy fanfics.

I think in the future people won't even buy novels anymore because they can just make one completely tailored to their own tastes using AI. That's exactly what I've been doing for the past 3 years. I've churned out thousands of pages of stories using AI and haven't even published anything. It's all purely for my own entertainment.

Done tons of side-by side comparisons. The "quoted" + "format" +"like" + "this" is absolutely inferior to simple prose descriptions. Also I save tokens by not being redundant with details I can drop in the dialogue examples or initial message, making the description shorter. My best results are with one line descriptions stringing key characteristics, referring to a famous character, with a couple of key elements. e.g. "Personality like Jack Sparrow, but serious, suspicious, haunted" I drop all function words (like "and") to minimize tokens. Basically, the description is a list of keywords, and the fluff just makes it more human-readable Example dialogue is the real spice that takes talent to craft, and should occupy the bulk of your tokens.

My guess is he's using Elevenlabs and stitching it together manually in editing. He recorded his own lines for his character. He's showing screenshots, not live footage. I don't think Tavern AI has built in TTS yet. Oobabooga does, but I don't think they voice the action text.

Alot of it has to do with the short token limitations, which also is related to vram limitations in the future as vram grows, or methods to improve token reliability without as hard of a hit to vram. Then this will become more of a well versed story tool.

The characters I create usually carry between 750 and 900 tokens. But on the other hand I do not like to give examples of dialogue, I prefer that it develops naturally based on personality and background. The person who downloads it can then fill in the examples to his liking with the conversations he made

Do you happen to have tips on creating a "world" style character, like the "World RPG" character at Yodayo Tavern? I'm having this issue where I use these world type characters, create a detailed world and scenario and just have a couple rather generic characters drive the story forward. It works well, for a while, but then the characters simply start forgetting all about the rules and narrative that was implemented at the start. It's really frustrating, because the rules and culture I've set for the world can be rather complex, and quite difficult to make the characters remember once they lose the plot. It's immensely frustrating when my characters forget that they're isekaied into a horror world with complex family structures and weird politics. Anyway, I assume that it would be much harder for the characters to forget as long as the world I want is part of the initial character card, right? But how do I go about making one? Do I just use a lot more tokens on describing the scenario as opposed to the personality of the character?

I don't understand how you get such good results with Pygmalion. I've stumbed upon this rabbit hole some days ago and I've tried several things. I tried both oobabooga and KoboldAI using at first locally the Pygmalion 7B quantized model you talk about in your previous video, but then also I rented a cloud GPU for experiments and ran full versions of Pygmalion 7B and 6B. In no cases does this give me any viable results. Maybe one sentence in 6 makes any sense.

I've been using it on my 1660ti 6GB with some impressive conversations. With a bit of tweaking I got it to print half a word at a time (over every letter at a time, it feels like waiting for a real person to answer to me.) For my card, oobabooga is working as expected. It makes mistakes and jumps the rails occasionally. Perhaps it's your formatting (discussed in the video). Post up some information about your settings and maybe someone here can guess what's going on?

I'm pretty sure the syntax with the quotations and pluses is W++. And that only Pygmalion is compatible with it. It's also a token hog since not having an empty space in front of a word increases the token count. Natural language is suprprsingly more token-efficient.

What is the best way to do different scenarios with the same character? Copy/paste the character for each scenario, or just copy the scenarios for each separate chat with the same character to a text file and then paste in the relevant scenario based on the chat I'm in? Also, is upgrading my GPU the only way to make it generate the responses faster?

More GPU VRAM is pretty much the only way to make it faster. You can try smaller models if you're okay with less coherency, but really you want more VRAM. 24GB is probably what you'd aim for, from my understanding.

From my experience go with {{user}} and {{char}} when referring to you or your character. Sometimes the "You" or "Me" makes the character talk to itself or say replace me with itself. It never changed much of the chat and you can quickly edit.

thanks for all the info, im trying to run Oobabooga only to test and learn before I go much further however the TTS response is agonizingly slow, like minutes slow, I have 3 GPS with 11 Gig each an have tried the 6B, 7B and 13B models all are ridiculously slow, I rage quite tonight trying to get it to respond in even 20-30 seconds any idea why things are so slow?

Have you set up KoboldAI to actually use more than one GPU? By default it will only run from one, and you would be best to ask Reedit how to get it to see all of them.

I just started using Tavern AI and I'm enjoying it so far, but I have some concerns. I was using Janitor AI for a little while using an Open AI chat model (not sure if ithat's what you call it). Later I found out, that it actually costs money and I was just in the free trial phase. Now in Tavern AI, I'm using Kobold AI as my API. And right beneath the API settings, in the "Preset Settings" category, it says I'm using classic-pygmalion-6b, do I have to worry about any charges when using Kobold AI as API and whatever this classic-pygmalion-6b is supposed to be?
