Create Simple Line Letter Logos with Illustrator

In this tutorial I’ll be demonstrating how you can create simple line-style letter logos using Adobe Illustrator.
The font that I used is Montserrat Black. It can be downloaded here: www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/mo...

Lovely tutorial! I've been using AI for 5 or so years and never knew you could average 2 points ! I always did the painful method of making a new middle anchor point and deleting the side ones However a few things, you could have used transform to make multiple cop8es and jus expanded the shapes, I find that easier as you can also change the space between the lines Also there is a rounded corners options in illustrator. I think that could simplified the task of making the round corners all at once instead of doing It one by one

His Academy really worth the money and to be honest is cheap for the knowledge he provides . I do really recommend it because I learned with him in just one week what my college professors didn’t teach me in one semester.

This is awesome. The only prproblem I'm having is that I'm trying to do it with a word, not just a letter. So when I hit intersect it says "filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths"...so excuse my ignorance but is there a way to do this with more than one letter at a time? Thanks so much for all your videos. I'm learning a lot!!

2 times I followed the same way you did but when I want to Intersect (pathfinder) "The filter produced no results. Please select two or more filled and overlapping paths." error pop up anyone can help?

Make sure you convert the text into outline. Select the text, then go to Type > Create outline, and select all the objects then Pathfinder > Intersect.

For the last step, you can select many of the points you want at the same time. Just to same time hehe.

Hey Nick im using Illustrator 2020 but when it comes to that point of intersection when i use my pathfinder i get a prompt saying " Filter produced no results. Please select to overlapping paths" yet i have followed all your instructions

Make sure there is actually only 2 objects and the letters are converted to path. I was having the same problem but then I realised that I was using more then 1 letter, so I had to make a compound path with all the letters. SOlved my problem

When i tried to make them into a compound path i got "cant make a compound path. All objects in a compoundpath must be paths, and they cannot be brushed or part of an object" And "The filter produced no results. Please select two overlapping paths" was what I got when I tried to intersect the two. And theres NOTHING out there to help me with my problem.

unable to select the points once you get to about 6:11 in the video. What am I doing wrong? It only selects the whole object. not the individual points?

I just had to keep selecting it. I think it had something to do with grouping or selecting. I quickly restarted and made sure I wasn't click away when I wasn't suppose to until I got it to work. Not the best advice but I had the same issue.

You have to have at least 2 objects selected. Sounds like you only have 1 or none.
