Follow along with artist Kami Strunsee as she shows you her process of creating gorgeous sunflowers with ink on a repurposed farmhouse window.
You can create this project on glass, porcelain tile or metal. You can also try it on paper, although the process is slightly different.
Have fun creating and thanks for watching!
Materials Needed
An old window, pane of glass, porcelain tile, or smooth metal surface (check Facebook Marketplace to find old windows)
Alcohol Inks
Compressed Air (with straw nozzle)
Cotton Swabs
Paper Towel
Rubbing Alcohol
White poster board or paper to place behind glass to help see your work (you can leave it on when finished, or remove to see through the glass)
Latex or Nitrile gloves to prevent staining on skin
Inks used in video: www.timberlanestudio.com/work...
Suggested UV Sealants in gloss finish where applicable:

Wow!!! Thank you for this beautiful and inspiring video!! I am just beginning my venture into alcohol inks, flowers and blowing the petals out. Do you use any alcohol when doing the art on glass? Also, do you use canned air because it is more controllable than an air gun? I only have an air gun. Thank you for this fabulous video where you create this beautiful piece of art. I don’t know how to share my “practice “ picture.

I like the compressed air because of the control and the burst of sudden pressure I can get. And I sometimes use alcohol in the glass if I need to spread a lot of color around on canvas, but on glass just the inks works great. Thanks for watching and my apologies for the super delayed response!

An air compressor cost $80. You don't get any freezing you don't get any water dripping out the straw.. your sunflowers are nice

Do you have to spray a sealer on it? Kim🍁🇨🇦

Hi Kim! Apologies for the delay in response, I do use a sealer, rustoleum clear enamel in gloss. However I use a very VERY light coat, and let dry completely and repeat the process 4-5 times. If you spray too heavy/too much the inks will run. Have fun!
