Guy Creates His Own Airplane Cockpit Simulator At Home Using Google Search.
There are many innovative people in the world who creat some very interesting stuff. This guy built a functiong flight simulator in his childs bedroom. Laurent Airgon is from Aquitane in France he had always wanted to be a pilot but was prevented from doing so because of poor grades in school. Even though he was not able to achieve his dream of being a pilot, he continued to be an aircraft enthusiast. This eventually inspired him to build an amazing, fully functional Boeing 737 cockpit.

I do understand, I am a pilot myself and professional business woman, I want to have my own jet Simulator as well, I will do in a few years. Achievement gives satisfaction, when we take an action put lots of efforts, we get successes. When I see success stories, I feel happy for them and get the emotional same time. Thanks for sharing. Deepika.

Hope some airlines make him a pilot. Its not about your education... Its about the passion. Scoring straight A's doesn't make you a better pilot? Let this guy have some training with an airline. If he is good, SIGN HIM UP! hahah
@EggiTheShadow
@EggiTheShadow 8 лет назад
Getting straight A's may not make you a better pilot but it gets you the job. Rather than that, you don't even have to get straight A's, the pass rate is usually 80% so as long as you get that much you've passed and it doesn't matter about the score as long as you pass

It is about education, maths for example is an important aspect of understanding flight. Airline pilots are responsible for hundreds of lives. Simulators are incredibly detailed but anyone with a computer can memorize the steps to put the plane in the air and land. But when everything goes wrong in the air you want someone who knows the fundamentals.

It's about money, and if you're prepared to pay the training costs - that's all it is and it's a sad reality. I have an ATPL.

Flying is my passion, I am 16, a junior in high school, and I have a plan that will get me to become a commercial pilot. I am going to go to ATP flight school, right after getting my bachelor's degree in college, I am going to do whatever I have to do to make my dream come true!
@therealjuralumin3416

Just thought i’d give you some major heads up on getting an ATP license. The following is taken from an article in Flying Magazine about getting an ATP certificate: "Unless you get your R-ATP, you need to be at least 23 years old and have a minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time, 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night time (or 75 hours with a minimum of 45 night landings) and 75 hours of instrument time (25 of which can be in a simulator) in order to qualify for the ATP.
@yogibear5211
@yogibear5211 7 лет назад
William Furniss There is a flight program in ATP to start from zero I believe. There is also a college student loan for ATP. I was talking about getting the Airline Career Pilot program they have. atpflightschool.com/airline-career-pilot-program/enrollment.html It starts you as a beginner if you have zero experience in real life, it makes you take the right steps to become an Airline Pilot.The ATP certificate is for people who graduated from the Airline Career Pilot program. Thanks for your help though! I appreciate it!

One other thing, I am 17, senior in high school, with same ambition as you. Get a backup degree. Get a degree in college for something other than Aeronautical Science (basically flight training in college like Embry Riddle as a degree). I am going for a bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering. That is my advice for you. If you are already doing that then great! My route now is graduate high school, go to community college and meanwhile in community college, I will do flight training to gain hours and my ratings. Then after that I will get my aerospace degree along with more hours of flying. Hope this somewhat helps you organize your plan for the future!

I wish that something like this was available back when I started to fly in 1972. It would have made going to flight school in Jacksonville a lot easier. To have a little knowledge and experience, even though it was on homemade equipment, I am sure it would have been most helpful. I didn't fly jets until 1980 when I joined United, but flying is flying. The principles involved in the logistics part are the same.
@misturarica7519

That is absolutely true. I started my private pilot course in 2012 after about 15 years simulating (I started on Flight Simulator 4.0). Well, on my first flight in the school I did everything by myself. Instructors thought I was an experienced pilot but it all came from the simulator and joining my father on some comercial flights he flew. If you want to see my home cockpit (amateur) you can check my channel.

@@whopperlover1772 it actually is mate. At least in France you need a lot of diploma like PPL for example to be able to enter a school to have a ATPL and stuff like that. Also in the exact same school, not anyone can enter this school because the admission process is special : you have to send all the a motivation letter, you have an interview in french another one in English and you have to go through a big test about math physics and aeronautical knowledge so being a pilot is very very difficult

Brilliant stuff, although for all the money involved you could probably afford to get a good airplane and get your private pilot's license to fly it for real. Of course, in the simulator you never have to buy fuel, pay flight insurance, or get all the medical exams, and you can fly whatever you want, wherever you want, in all kinds of weather, and if you crash, you just re-set the simulation and try again.

Nice. Its never too late! I am 43 and just started designing a home cockpit. Whilst I do have FS2020 I find it less immersive than X Plane (despite FS2020 being graphically superior). This is mostly because X Plane fully supports multiple monitors. Check my channel where I was doing some testing with 7 screens connected to my PC! Try that with MSFS 2020! In my case though I don't want to he limited by one aircraft so my cockpit dashboard and console will be touchscreens.

Well, at least he knows his shit and be able to do 90% of what a normal pilot's job, which is flying the plane, or handling any failures that might happen. So he might not have the licence to prove he is a pilot, but hell, i'll rather trust my life on him than a scholar that claims he know his shit abt flying.
@Zer0_L1ves
@Zer0_L1ves 7 лет назад
Hmmm true that. Well it all depends on how much simulation flight the 4000hour virtual pilot had then. If he had standard training like what real pilot does that includes routine flights, failure flights etc. Well then i'll still choose him. Otherwise if he is just taking it easy and as a hobby. I'll choose ur side as well, 100hr cessna pilot.
@ΜανώληςΦιαγκουσάκης

Reading this: "he had always wanted to be a pilot but was prevented from doing so because of poor grades in school" I had bad grades too, not too bad but I managed to get better marks. If you truly have passion for it you achieve your goals. I am on my way of becoming a pilot. You don't have to score best in math or physics. All you need is good Hand to Eye coordination, good judgement and most important motivation. Why would he spent a lot of money on this simulator when he could spend all that sum of money in becoming a pilot? He could have been flying a real plane and get paid also. Its good for him that managed to build this sim, but believe me, he could have become a pilot even though he had bad grades. For those who are on this road, don't give up, even though you don't have money, don't give up. All you need is motivation. Do researches and you'll find what I am talking about. Cheers!

@@itsdaniyaal - that's reassuring because I'm 46 and my [IFR Licensed] Pilot/Mentor is encouraging me to become a pilot. I've only spent 50 hours in the last 8 months on his simulator and each minute was a gold nugget of time that bought great memories for me. Reading your comment has inched me ever closer to make the plunge - I mean decision - to move forward and I appreciate it.

What about family guys? Do you have any young kids? He does.. You give some, you take some. With his reality probably he made his dream come true, on the level he imagined it or something.. Guess what, he might want to guide one of his kids on to his steps. Still an achievement for him I recon.
