How do you create a beautiful garden on a reeally tight budget? That's what I'm trying to learn this year at the cottage!! I've been living in this tiny little home now for five months and I missed the window of time where I should have planted all my seedlings because I was still settling in and decorating indoors at the cottage. But I have sticker shock at the prices on seedlings and other gardening items this year!! So in this video, I thought I'd share some of the little ways I'm trying to develop a beautiful garden space ... without spending much money.
I would looooove to hear in the comments below all the little tricks you ladies have for saving money in the garden!! I love getting to read the suggestions here ... and I know others appreciate it so much, too.

I had a garden tea party and invited my friends-I made several kinds of herbal tea, baked scones and cookies, put out all sorts of art supplies and old flowerpots and thrifted treasures, asked my guests to bring rooted cuttings, overflow seedlings, plants from their garden that needed TLC, and one small 6-pack of flowers each as a Garden Warming Gift. I asked them to wear their “garden grubbies“, and bring sun hats and garden gloves. We planted and painted and had such fun! We had an absolute blast and now I hint to all my friends that I love plants as a hostess gift when they come for dinner. Blessings on your garden!

When we bought our house we dug perennial beds and had grand visions of gardens...but didn't have the money to spend on plants. I told everyone who would listen about our garden and several co-workers, friends, and family all offered to share plants from their gardens... all I had to do was show up and dig them up. I also happened upon several neighbors who put out free perennials at the end of their driveways in springtime when they were thinning their own gardens. Jackpot! Well, it's been 29 years since we bought our house and now, we're the ones leaving free plants at the end of driveway every spring.

My coworkers and I share plants with each other from our gardens. As plants need thinning we dig up and trade plants.

My tip is to use the plastic black containers (cells) plants come in to fill the bottom of flowerpots. It provides drainage and you use less soil to fill the pots. (You often can find them in people’s recycling boxes!) Also if you use dryer sheets, you can put the used ones to use by laying them in the bottom of pots before filling with soil to help retain the soil from coming out of the bottom of the pot.

I also break up horrible polystyrene boxes to fill the bottom of bins to creat a no bend garden.

My neighbor just told me that our Home Depot sprays a purple spot on discounted bags of compost, ect. They get marked down when there's a little hole in the bag.

If you still use coffee filters they can cover the hole in the pots also.

Plant and seed swaps are helpful! Clearance plants are almost always worth $1. My library has a seed library and you can get seeds from it.

In my home town down here in New Zealand we have a thing called a 'Crop Swap' whereby you take any surplus kitchen and/or garden things you have and swap them for whatever else is there that you may need/want. It could be anything from gardening magazines, plants, seeds, baking, produce etc. It's a fortnighly thing. I've only just discovered it myself but its a great idea :) Love your videos by the way!

We do the same crop and seed swap every month in Sydney with monthly permaculture meetings. I also see a lot of people doing the same on Freecycle….Zilch…..free sections of Gumtree.

Love how our Garden is coming along and delighted you got some free plants, one tip I heard was to put wind chimes in the garden as Deer are so skittish they dont like, and you can always make your own ones with old spoons and things, xxx Big Hugs Dede xxxx

You have put so much work into the prepping of your garden. I believe you are far more patient than you give yourself credit for. So many steps to gardening, but the reward is so worth it. I love that you rescue plants and items that others consider trash. I am 65 and grew up where everyone reused everything as did our parents and generations since the beginning of time do the same. Thank you for highlighting reusing found items and recycling existing items in your home. Loving your garden and your spider plants. I know your garden will be beautiful. Love Charlie...he is so sweet...missing my 15 and a half year old Black Lab I had to leave with my son during a recent move. Our furry loved ones, sure do love us and bring us so much joy. 💙💛💚

When I was on a strict budget, one of the things I did is go to the local cemetery the day before they mowed the lawn. People would bring potted plants for grave sites, but the gardeners would remove them and throw them in a big pile in the woods to just discard them. I got permission to go through the big heap of discarded plants and I could take home whatever I wanted for free. Good luck with your garden this year.

For me saving money in the garden is to have a plant exchange with friends and neighbours. All you need is a place to gather, ice tea, wine, dessert hosted in a garden. Lots of fun, you bring as many plants as guests so everyone gets one of each if they choose. I found that gardeners love to share and bring more then asked. I have ended up with a surplus of plants!

My tip is to join a local gardening club. The advice from experienced members is invaluable and gardeners are truly generous in sharing cuttings and seeds. Many just give stuff away or swap it for time.

Tip: Ask Gardner friends for clipping, bulbs, a piece of a plant, or seeds when the plant bolts or produces seeds.

My tip for saving $$ in the garden is like you gather all the soil that comes with new plants, harvest seeds, and thin out bulbs and exchange with neighbors. At the end of summer I buy seeds that are discounted, usually for a dollar packet. Your garden is coming along so beautifully, in no time it will be magical, I'm sure.❤❤❤

Several youtubers have a "donate a coffee" option for their subscribers to buy them a coffee. Your videos touch so many people in such an uplifting and wholesome way, that maybe instead of buying you a coffee, it could be that they "buy you a plant or seeds" for your new garden as a housewarming gift since you so generously share it with all of us in your videos. Just another option that would be fun for your viewers as they would be even more connected to the garden as it develops. :)

Maybe forage for dandelions ? You can eat every part of the plant and they’re meant to be super healthy for you ! You can make dandelion tea and even syrup or wine !

@@littlebohocottage also , apparently you can buy one tomato plant and then when you take the suckers off they can be regrown to make a new plant . If you eat strawberries, sweet potatoes or potatoes , I’ve heard you can plant them whole and they will grown into plants . Store bought basil can be separated into smaller plants

In Europe where I live, dandelion it is a terrible weed that is getting out of control. Not recommended in temperate climates.

Making compost, growing comfrey, and raising worms are my favourite things to do to save money. The comfrey is great for speeding up the composting process and the worms are really good at making fertiliser for the garden. Once established I have all the garden enhancements I need.

I wasn't aware that comfrey was good for compost but I've used ground corn meal and that brings earth worms. I also use coffee grounds, banana peels and finely crushed eggshells. The center of toilet paper rolls is good for planting seeds

You demonstrated my personal favorite tip! Grab those deals when plants are discounted or thrown away at the store. One of my best finds was a camilia that I bought for a dollar and it lasted for over twenty years!

So, this is one of the most cheap skate things I've ever thought of. Instead of buying wood chips I use the bark at the base of my trees. I cannot believe how much I have. I noticed it one day when I was watching our squirrels chase each other up, down and around our maple tree and every so often bark would fall.

I know this is an older video but my favorite tip is to propagate from what i already have. Its great to repeat plants in your garden so that you get a good grouping which gives you a fuller show. And of course they are free. I have cut my salvia back after blooming and stick what I've cut off in pots and most of them have rooted. You can root them in water easily as well. Then saving seed really saves money. I love my free plants! 😊

May is definitely NOT too late to plant food. Seed potatoes for a fall crop, bush or pole beans, squash, watermelon babies, cucumbers, even little tomato plants! I'm still planting squash and corn and beans. Last year I didn't get my (new) garden in until June, and I had lots of veggies. Don't give up: seeds are cheap!

Kate, I love how you repurpose things to put in your garden, the birdcage is so cute and the things you save from the trash pile. Even the unused soil from previous plants and the hollowed out logs. It's like your nature's gardener. You inspire me to be more grateful and look around and use my imagination. I live in Texas so I have to plant heat to plant plants and take advantage of shady areas in my yard. I get so excited when you have a new video to watch. You are truly a blessing of encouragement! Your place is so pretty! The only things I do to save a buck is let everyone know I want their thinned out plants. I save seeds and bring stuff in from the woods as well. Luckily my place is backed onto a forest. I divide a lot of things too. I have an acre, so there’s no way I could do this from a nursery. But I do allow myself a few things every year. I also grab perennials from the nursery at the end of the season for next to nothing. ❤

I just scored like that at my Lowes garden center. There was a man putting two racks of plants on clearance for 75% off, which thrilled me. But I noticed he had a box of all kinds of 4 inch annuals looking rather sad. I asked ,and he said he was throwing them away. Soooooooooooooooo , he gave me a whole flat!!!!! They were pink and the palest yellow. I took them home... watered them... and the next day their little faces were all smiling up at the sun!!!! Just needed some love! SCORE!!!! I always check the clearance rack first. The cost of plants are out of control this year. I also save soil from pots and plantings and keep it in a covered bucket with a lid I got at Lowes. I keep a large plastic scoop inside . And recently there were 5 bags for $10.00 of Miracle Grow potting soil because someone had partially sliced the bags so couldn't be sold like new. Yeahhhhh... my lucky day! Your garden being surrounded by that standing of tall trees is everything. I love it. It feels like an intimate garden . The morning glory would be glorious on the metal arch... also if you can find a climbing rose on clearance of course!!!!! Just get one started while the morning glories are taking hold. Defintly

I love planting things that self sow and pop up next year in my zone 5 garden such as sweet alyssum, sunflowers, marigolds, comfrey, borage, chamomile, and cherry tomatoes. There are a lot of Amish communities in Ohio that grow flowers and veggies for sale. Their prices run 40-50% less than the big box stores.

Good morning! I am in awe...at almost 75,I am watching you , wishing I could start over. I have had many gardens over my lifetime.Some were huge food, flowers,some just flowers,all unique. Now in Florida, itsall different.Started over 2 times after hurricane trashed all that was in ground.Costly forsure.. This year is sad😢 Hubby is very I'll, still working,but I am not. I just am so overwhelmed. Anyways,one does what you did. Yoj go right on doing the forging,& watering, making it cozy, cute. 🧚🏼‍♀️Your garden looks great already 🧚🏼‍♂️ 🧚🏼‍♀️🪄GARDEN TIP 🧚🏼‍♂️🪄✨ When you buy ROMAINE LETTUCE 🥬 After you cut the bottom off, 💁🏻‍♀️don’t toss it out! 🥬 Cut off four finger length from the bottom, PLANT IT bottom/ Stem in the dirt and LEAVE The Green Lettuce part sticking up out of the dirt. Omg it grows like crazy and so lush and delicious! Put it in direct Sunlight 🥬🌞 and water it every day. It really is a generous vegetable! After you pull out one to ear be sure to do the same process so you have romaine lettuce 🥬 growing continuously! It take about 3-4 weeks. I just Love your free thinking and free living and simply FREE feeling of your spring garden! Just seeing how you go about bringing such wonderful beauty into your yard is inspiring! I live in a Brooklyn coop on the sixth floor, but we have an oh so sweet courtyard and though there is a garden committee that plants several different herbs and tends to them, Im going to contribute some little planters and get some flowers that are already in their little pots ( I think I can find some sun worshipping marigolds, zinnias and petunias) to have some color back there. I loved the feeling of your signs, so charming and relaxed and happy to not have to be formal and perfect. I love the underlying message of your garden, so full of joy and relaxed form and creative energy. Thank you for totally inspiring my mental garden within as well as my stepping forward to bring some colorful joy to our outdoor courtyard garden. You are are a big blessing to all of us. Props to you for such effort!👍 I've always been a container gardner my whole 66 yrs. of life, but this year I used two porch posts that brother had given me when refreshing his porch and angled beside my front door to form small beds. One for bluebonnets and sunflowers in sunniest side. My morningglories in huge brass pot came up couple weeks ago and will soon stretch twine for them to climb next to my porch chair. Neighbor across from me can grow anything, and had an Indian paintbrush growing in a pot. Good golly, my Mom's field is full of those beauties. Never thought of potting them but Neighbor and I have plans to go dig some up in couple days to beautify our porches. My red geraniums are my "must" for every year and have in huge decorative planter right outside my front screened door. Love from Texas ❤

I used to have lots of indoor plants like you have. When I started traveling for 6 mnths at a time I ask my girls to please come and water them, well....... I think only 2 survived and I never bothered again. But since I started to watch you and I can nolonger travel I decided to start collecting again. I'm loving it. Can't do much outside because of the intense heat but I have put a few things on the porch that has slates to make shade, we shall see how they do. Today I was at Lowe's picking some cute little bittly succulents for a gorgeous Mothers Day gift and of course I spent $45. LOL I think I will go back tomorrow to check out reduced price plants. Your garden is going to be fabulous!!

I've had great success with the clearance plants at Home Depot. A little TLC and good drink of water is all they need in many cases. I was also shocked at the prices of starter plants this year. Beautiful video , I was so happy to see a new one pop up and it wasn’t disappointing as always . That was a blessing to get the plants for free , everything helps . I plant flowers that reseed themselves , collect or harvest seeds in the fall like you did with the morning glory seeds . I have four birdcages in my garden , also pot old tea pots with flowers . One of the cutest things I have seen with flowers planted in was a broken vintage purse with the metal snap closer , they left it sitting open with the flowers growing out the top of it . When my father passed away my oldest sister took his well worn work boots home and planted hens and chickens in them , so sentimental . We have to pray in the new viewers to get your numbers up so your garden can be filled with lots of what you need to have the garden of your dreams next year , everybody remember to like these videos and share them with a friend . It’s fun to find an old abandoned farm and to take cuttings from old bushes etc that can be propagated. Sometimes you can find bulbs like daffodils that are along roads and how they got there is a wonder. I used to keep a Boy Scout shovel in my trunk and I’d dig these up and add them to my garden. It’s also fun to join a gardening club… these people love to share and it’s so much fun to get and give plants thus way. Plus you remember friends via these constant reminder of them as the plants return each Spring. I also add vermiculite to my potting soil to lighten my soil and extend the soil. It’s great to start seeds in as well. I always chop up my leaves to amend my yard. I see people buying garden bags and throwing the leaves in the trash and I could cry as these leaves can reffed the tree itself. Look and buy plants that will spread. I bought a pot of blue and black salvia five years ago and now it banks one side of my house and I’ve given it to anyone who has admired it. Plus my hummingbirds and bees love it and I love to find plants for them. Happy gardening!

Hi. Most of the plants you picked can easily be direct sown into you garden with seeds. Lettuce, cucumbers,sunflower are really easy. Zinnia you can start many dozen by direct sowing. They prefer to be planted when it’s warmer. Lettuce can be planted in part shade in the summer and fall, if you miss the spring. Melons, pumpkins direct sow in late May or June. Beans anytime. Buy, hard to start plants, herbs and tomatoes. Many plants can started in July for a fall harvest. Your money can go to bigger purchases like hydrangeas or something.

I often have saved money by purchasing flowers, veggies, and herbs from the marked-down shelves. Usually, they are just root-bound and perk right up when they can stretch out in the soil. After thinning her flower beds, my friend has also shared iris bulbs, lily of the valley, and other flowers with me. At the end of summer one year, I clipped off the heads of my zinnias, put them in a cardboard box in the garage to over-winter, and then planted them in the spring. I had the most beautiful wide, long bed of zinnias alongside my clothesline. Such a beautiful memory of hanging clothes on the line amongst my zinnias! Blessings.

I am in Alberta, Canada. In USDA zone 3. Many of us do not plant our gardens until the end of May. We have crops by the end of August. You are far from too late to start your garden. Also, the plants and herbs you rescued and purchased are all quick growers. You can easily start marigolds and zinnias from seeds now. The only thing in all you have that could be a little slow from seed might be the rosemary. Truly!

It’s going to be very hard for me, my mom loved our garden. We planned what new things we would do every year but unfortunately she passed away on February 28th this year. I love your garden ❤️ I have friends that grow seedlings as well so we swap and also I put things in my basket at the front gate and put them on our local Facebook for free. Sometimes people will then pop something that they have grown in return. Also, our local market stalls always have good cheap plants.

I love how your little garden is coming along. I planted lavender this year. Just one small clump in the middle of a large pot (it was all I could afford) and it looks like it will bloom soon. I use egg shells, coffee grounds water infused with banana peel or even just cut up banana peel to feed my garden. We also have a tiny fish pond containing 5 comets and now and then I water my plants with the pond water. It's not filtered so is full of all kinds of nutrients for plants.

Hi Kate! I ❤ your channel. We grew up with very little money but my mom loved to garden. She would always restart cuttings we brought back from car trips and would use empty milk cartons to use as planting pots. Some other things we would do … Save marigold flower heads after they die at the end of the season because that’s where the seeds are to plant for next year. Save the seeds from your store bought organic fruits like acorn squash watermelon cantaloupe to plant. Wild Irises have a seed pod at the end of the season to pick and save. You don’t have to dig up the tubers. Buy bait worms to put in your flower beds to fertilize and aerate the soil.

I save all last years soil and reconstitute it by adding compost and worm castings. Big savings! Have a garden party by having friends and neighbors bring garden plants to share and swap, tools and garden decor etc. it’s fun and everyone gets new treasures including time together. 🌱🌻🌸

Gardening can be quite expensive if you don’t think outside of the box! I’m all about clearance plants that need a little TLC, local plant swaps on Facebook, Facebook marketplace, and perennials! For free fertilizer, some rabbit people will be happy to give away their buns coco puffs (poo) which is gold and can be used in the garden right away. It also helps my compost bin in its process. Your garden is looking great, and I hope you don’t feel discouraged by the financial constraints! Your creativity will make it more beautiful than any overly curated magazine garden would look. 💜

See if your County offers free mulch and compost as well as a composting container. Also, do you know about Honest Weight Co-op in Albany? They have the best locally produced garden plants at the best prices. Also, set up a take-a-plant, leave a plant with your friends. Easy to do and it’s free.

I love your garden and your home....I belong to a face book local garden exchange....someone will have something I would like to have and if I have a cutting of something we trade....So next Spring start your seedlings early and maybe you can belong to an exchange its so much fun ...Save the containers your eggs come in and start seedlings in, if they are the cardboard type its easy to cut a few off to give away or exchange

My tip is using old coffee grounds and egg shells for fertilizer. I toast the egg shells to detour the 🦝 raccoons from eating them. Another thing I use as mulch are my old leaves but I don't have any left this year, so I have leftover hay that I use for bedding for the feral cats I take care of. The hay was free too. 👍

I’m a stealth plant snipper. I gently pick off little pieces of plants at restaurants, doctors offices traffic circles. They usually root and I have quite a collection. If I see someone working on their garden I strike up a conversation an usually come home with a sample of something!

While I was collecting plants for my front yard, I found them through a variety of sources - Yard sales, Estate sales, Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, the curb, friends etc. I even collected free decorative rocks thru the same sources. My neighbor was redoing his backyard. He had boulders, which brought over and installed them for me. 😊

Favorite tip(s) for saving money in the garden: ask friends for rooted starts from their herb gardens; plant organic potatoes I buy at the natural foods market (cheaper than official seed potatoes and they usually will sprout within a month, just be sure they are organic); I use free bamboo I cut from unwanted stands in neighbors' yards or along the road to make trellises; I make my own compost and potting soil (the latter from shredded composted leaves); make compost bins out of free wooden pallets and plastic zip ties (just be sure the pallets are marked HT for heat-treated rather than being treated with a wood preservative); ask arborists and the guys who cut trees for the power company for free wood chips.

You're a delight & I so enjoy all your content which you're not only very talented you have a gift of what you bring to us; relaxation, contemplation & information! I get so many ideas from you though my movement is restricted I try to find a work around (in my 70s & physically challenged the past 12 yrs). I too have a little chihuahua and love plants & flowers. With taking in a kitten last year am not able to keep any plans inside 😢. I've been trying my hand at planting from seeds & have cut plastic gallon containers along the middle almost all the way around to create tiny greenhouses, some are starting to sprout. My tiny cottage gets very little sunlight in the back being surrounded by evergreens. I plant in pots & the front gets invaded by neighbors dogs that run loose but I keep trying 😊. She plays catch essentially, loves bottle tops & brings them to me will toss & she brings it back continually until I get tired. My pup does not fetch though sometimes he takes it away from her. Herbs and tomatoes are my favorite things to grow in the summer. So many things can be grown from grocery store food. When I walk my dogs I carry my clippers. I snip cuttings everywhere to try to grow at home. If I see something fabulous in someone's yard I go knock on the door and ask permission to take a cutting. People have even dug up plants that needed thinning for me!! I've had great luck starting hydrangeas and even roses. I just snipped some blackberry new-growth cuttings and they have roots right away. Invasive species I always grow in containers

Hi and Good afternoon! Another Lovely Video! Thanks for this. My Garden tip is to let the Dandelions grow to bring in the Bees and to give them their needed nutrition! Also Dandelions are Eddible and the leaves can be used in salads which I started doing last year. With Olive Oil, Raw Wheat Germ, Tomatoes, Cukes, some Spinach it makes an Awesome Salad! My other Tip for the Garden is to let your plants go to seed and Mother Nature will provide more Babies Plants for you too! Two years ago I puchased 'Comfrey' from a yard sale and I left them all flower and go to seed. Well two years later and I have so so so wonderful many babies that the Bees will love (they have small purple flowers that all types of Bees just enjoy greatly). Comfrey has deep roots and pulls nutrients from deeper in the soil and the leaves can be used as a mulch around plants. Two years ago I started putting them around my big tree in the backyard and I swear it has reaped many benifits form them. Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch and learn from: Robbie and Gary Gardening, here on youtube. They taught me how to 'Tote Garden' and they are always showing great things in the garden. Kate, I just love you! Your life mirrors me in so many ways. You are my favorite person to watch! I love to garden, and have to be creative. I am all older than you, so I grow garden in pots now. I cut potatoes into chunks an plant once the have eyes. Also the stalk of celery, pepper seeds,, etcetera. I shop for groceries once a month, and two weeks later I go through my crisper, and see what is wilting some then I make use of it before I lose it. I throw much of it together, and pickle it. I also recycle things that seem to far gone to consume, and plant them. Unfortunately this does not work for icecream. Lol! Back to gardening this way. I may or may not end up with something edible, but it will create some beautiful leafy plants!

I'm loving your ideas of saving $$ while you garden - I go to the garden store - I want one of each(lol) - in my head I choose plants to create window box arrangements and place them in my cart, I get a headache as I add up the prices - finances make it hard - I have garden goals but little by little, each year, I add more sections - I have kind friends who share, I've learned to get seeds, be diligent with watering, to help keep cost down - actually seed planting can be rewarding🤷 when it's a success! This year there was no money for seeds or plants. So I used all the seeds I have been saving the last couple years. I save flowers seeds Zinnias are so easy to save. Winter squash and other things. I have crammed my garden space with items I had seeds for and didn't stress over not having a huge variety. It's ok sometimes the basics is just what is needed and going to the garden every morning is a joy. Don't stress not having a wide variety keep to the basics and love those plants.

Buy and plant an organic root vegetable from the produce section in the grocery store--ginger, yam, potato, red onion (root the bottom section you discard in water.) Ginger grows horizontally, so give it wide space. I started ginger in a regular pot, and it outgrew it quickly. Ginger is a beautiful plant and so are sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes/yams vine and have beautiful heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers.

Also, saving containers from yogurt, sourcream , etc for pots its a great idea. You can use black big garbage bags to fill with soil. A few holes on the sides, a few potatoes and voila! I start composting every paper, scrap food and I have so little garbage that I should probably stop paying for garbage disposal over all. LoL.

We repurpose as much as possible to make our garden beds. We compost. And when making a new bed for plants we don't till we build up using cardboard, food waste, yard waste. Do several layers of this. Water and it starts to break down and the worms do arrive. I think it's called lasagna gardening. And my husband will put dirt on top of that. Yes it's a slower process not always pretty but the end result is worth it. Happy gardening. It's so healing

Sometimes when you reuse soil from other plants especially if plant died from a disease it will transfer disease to new plant. That why sterilize soil is used. When planting press soil around plant to reduce air pockets and fill soil to a higher level - just leaving enough of a reservoir to hold water so total soil is soaked with water and has drainage!!! Lavender cuttings from a bought mature plant will grow especially fast😊I always try to rescue plants from stores that are either reduced in price or being thrown out, they have repaid me well too! Get together with friends, neighbours and decide the seeds needed in the group, each person buys specific ones and then share with one another. Look super close at plants for sale, very often you will find pots with more than just the one plant in😉Collect seeds and cuttings when out walking in your area, take a small plastic baggie to pop cuttings in and keep sealed until home. Buying plants that have already flowered and had their season is a very cheap way to fill a garden too, patience will be rewarded...in 12 months time😆worth while doing it though.🥰

Save your seeds. If you grow cherry, grape or plum tomatoes, put one or two aside that you are not going to eat. Let it dry out over the winter. On a window sill or on a table inside getting sun. By spring they look like sundried tomatoes( without the olive oil) .Put the entire shriveled up tomato in a pot. You will get a lot of tiny seedling. Thin them out , put them in own small pot and plant I. Your garden when they are big and healthy enough.

Tip for saving in the garden -- start with seeds. Start them inside and then move them outside. Some will make it and some won't but it is nice to see growth emerge from a seed. Much cheaper.

Thank you my light worker friend Juicing your veg and use the remains to create great fast composting soil additive to dead soil . It keeps you healthy and feeds the soil, which intern feeds you … full circle ⭕️ You gotta compost to have cheap soil when ever you want . It was the big thing stopping me from planting was the cost of soil . Also I add a scoop of good soil / compost to the water when I hand water just the soil. Banana peel and coffee grounds ! Plant people never mind sharing props or seeds . We encourage others to grow ANYTHING and are most times excited to share . My favorite way to nourish the soil is to do trench composting. It has transformed my clay soil. Just dig a hole 1’ deep and fill it with crushed egg shells, vegetable scraps, coffee & tea grounds, paper, leaves, grass clippings and even dryer lint. No need to deal with a compost bin, just dig and dump! Keep moving around your flowerbeds and you’ll see earthworms galore from doing this tip.

My tip decorate with old items from your home or garage. For instance, I used old window, remove the glass paint or not, and hang on a fence or set on ground as a backdrop for your garden. Your video is great, calming.

My favourite tip is to plant store bought potatoes that start to chit. I have planted mine and they are growing. I can't promise a wonderful crop but they would have been thrown away so anything I harvest will be a bonus. Buy a compost bin or see if your local recycling centre will supply you with one. Go on line and research how to make great compost. I used some of mine yesterday it was like black and rich and made my bought compost go much further x

I do not have money for gardening this year, being newly retired, so I have been really being creative this year as well. I went to a sale put on by a local herb group, thinking the plants would have more of a chance of being discounted...no such luck. They were the same high price as store prices. The best compost was the one I stared in rubbermaid plastic storage container aka tub. Using fall leaves and kitchen scraps. I started it in the fall and used it at planting time.
