@@jeriviedelacruz1109 This is quite a board question as there are so many factors that can change the situation, do they just want something changed? If so that all depends on the number of revisions you've allowed them in the contract, if the brand strategy stage is done right you and the client should be on the same wavelength, so there shouldn't be a situation where they completely hate your design.
I am 24 and trying to get into graphic design. I have been feeling super overwhelmed with how to approach creating a brand identity, and a lot of the videos or articles I've seen weren't very helpful for me. So glad that I found your channel yesterday because honestly you are incredible at teaching! This is such an informative video, the amount of things I learned in 16 minutes is crazy. Thank you so much Abi, I have instantly subscribed :)
Heyy, I wonder if I can have your insta acc so we can talk about graphic design cuz I'm literally on the same path as you so I really wanna know what you think
You know this video is amazing because 15 minutes felt like two minutes you're an absolutely inspiration for myself I'm just 17 years old and you help me to find a purpose in my life as a graphic designer
Think this is one of the best compliments I could get 😂 Always put a lot of effort into making the videos super engaging, so glad to hear it!! Love hearing this, so glad I can be an inspiration, thank you 💛😊
Also, you got this 💛 Working in design is so fulfilling, the joy I get out of helping businesses create their perfect brand and getting to be so creative really is so fun, I wish you all the best on your journey! 😊
I love how you slay this video from beginning to end, all of it was just fully engaging and hell a fun, I also love how vibrant you are, as you presented! Great work Abi, ur super, super awesome!
I found your channel months ago, and ever since I've fallen in love with your videos! I love every video you put out. They all fill me up with so much joy 🤩 If I could describe your videos in one word l'd say, inspiring. It's just the vibes it gives!! I love the aesthetic, and I love you! 💕❤️
As someone who never really gone to design school and pretty much have no idea how to design brand identity, this video helps me a lot. The insight in this video is just, needless to say, top notch. I'm sure that I'm going to learn a lot from your channel.
I'm an in-house graphic designer and it's my current goal to further my career and build my portfolio with projects I'm truly passionate about. This video is incredibly helpful. Thank you Abi!
I think i found myself out in last time 😅 about that is really hard to listenting & understand to the women when they are explaining an importent topic Soooooooo faaaaaaaast
Hi Abi thanks for your video. I have a question. While designing are you sending each steps result to the client to get their confirmation or you just go ahead and finish all the work then deliver? I am a designer on fiverr and I think most of the clients usually ask for revisions. Some agree with the color palette but once the design is done their change their minds either about the font or the color palette. How do you deal with such clients after waisting all your time designing their change their minds and ask you to change the color or font style or the graphics of the patterns?
No problem, glad you enjoyed it😊 No I do all work first then deliver in a brand presentation (I find this really helps sale the work to the cleint!) So to prevent this from happening I go through an in-depth brand strategy stage with my clients before designing, where I figure out their goals, the direction they want to go in etc. I have a dedicated video going through all this here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OzbuxPKetIc.html I hope it helps!
I have done previously but it isn't my preferred method, I normally start by getting an array of different fonts and manipulate them. I know a lot of designers like to sketch out first and I can see how. its beneficial, it's just never been my preferred way of working 😊
I’ve just started a diploma in graphic design and am trying to find awesome creators to inspire and push me!!! I’ve just discovered your channel and I’m obsessed! Love your work!
Thank you 😭 Im trying to start freelancing but im so lost where to start. I’ve watched your other videos but another video about the process is extremely helpful 💕 Would like to see more about competitor analysis next time 💕
Hope the videos have been of help, remember you got this! You're never going to feel completely ready, you just have to go for it, and be fine with learning along the way! Aiming to bring out a video about the whole brand strategy (including competitor analysis soon!)
@Abi: What a great way to share design process inside and out in such an accessible (& fun) way! I'm just curious about how you handle nutritional labelling in the design process when working with edible products like this one - would that be something offered in the design package service? And what if they came up with new flavours after several months post-brand identity creation? Thank you so much for the value you give us with your videos and mentorship!
Please can you make a video on how you export your files, and what file types you use & send to the client (e.g. are they all vectors? Or PNG's?). Thank you!
Hey Abi, I absolutely love your videos I always tend to learn more. Could you please explain what’s the difference between an icon logo, submark logo and a logo mark and how can each be used in branding?
1) How do you tackle brand fonts with clients? I always find this to be such a difficult task because it can be such a huge additional cost for them if you choose paid fonts, particularly when you consider web licensing, plus they have to actually navigate purchasing the right licenses. So much of the time clients will just request free fonts to avoid this whole mess, but that's obviously fairly limiting. 2) Where did you find the background elements for the mockups (e.g. the fruit)? Or did you create them yourself? Thanks!
how did you wrap your customised font around your logo mark, on a path (in your logo variations - specifically that 3rd submark logo), because its customised I'm trying to make my customised font wrap around my own submark logo please help! 😢
I have no intention on becoming a graphic designer myself but still i'm binging your videos because i adore your thought process throughout designing, i love the results and your personality is just the sweetest ♥
Hi Abby! How are you changing the shape of a letter m using your pen tool (4:57 min.)? I just don't get it. It almost looks like you are using smooth tool. Mind sharing?
Nice Tutorial but one humble request, your pace of speaking is too fast, so kindly make bit slow and I am willing to work as a fellow designer for you in anyone of your projects. Please consider
Hi! Absolutely Loved your video. Although I got stuck on one part. While choosing the color palette, the document mode was set to RGB. Now while printing, the chosen RGB based colors are not always printed accurately as they are displayed on the screen. Now, to have consistent look and feel across all mediums should be the goal. Have we missed the step where we should ensure CMYK-RGB consistency, or is it skipped on purpose to shorten the length of this video. Also, as the product requires packaging, should we choose color palletes with correspondence to CMYK Colors, since they are more limited than RGB Colours??? Thank you for the help!
You are right, there should always be a CMYK consideration for colours to ensure consistency of brand across multiple delivery platforms, both digital and print
So I have this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kS5jGXKVzB4.html which is about questions to ask your clients before you start designing? Does this help?
Hello Abi Thank you so much for this video... Thank you❤ This literally boasts my confidence to designing I just want to ensure I'm designing everyday and improving on my designs😊 I don't know if you have done the video on "presenting the branding... If Yes, please provide me with the link to watch If No, please make a video on itt😭😭 Also, how did you make the videos at the end?
Glad it was helpful 😊 Have a short video on how to present brands here: ru-vid.comuA2ciUskhak but will come out with a long form one soon! After effects for the video at the end 👍
14:45 did you ever make a video on that? I feel like I'm great with coming up with 1 super strong ideas, and several kind of crappy one. But most designers i know work on several and present and then go from there. I really dislike the sound of doing things that way. I'd like to know more about your way
I have mentioned it in more detail in a few videos but never done a dedicated video on it, but I can! In my opinion it's for sure a better way of doing things! :)
My main goal now is becoming a big branding designer like u , I worked 3 Years on social media designs but now I try to do my best to be on ur level , keep going✨🤜🤛
Abi, this was amazing. Everything I needed and more. It’s just not enough to be a creative. We need processes, good business sense, clear communication skills, interviewing and organizational skills, boundaries, etc. You make it look easy ❤
Thank you Melinda! Yes, processes are so important as we aren't always going to feel creative, but if we just start then it all starts to flow! Really appreciate your comment, thank you 😊💛
Can you please make a video on how to give the final files. In what format etc. and also how to do the brand guidelines so that the client has everything they need.
Made a note in my videos to do list! Will get around to filming it as soon as I can as it's been highly requested! I do have a template for brand guidelines on my website if that helps 😊
Love it!! I am trying to build my career as a Graphic Designer. But I can't feel satisfied with my work cause I have no variation. This video makes me inspired to add value to my work. Thank you. And you look beautiful🙂🙂.
This is "just" a how-to, right? Because I haven't found a Mighty Swirl brand in existence on the web so far, though there is someone named Aftab Ahmed who posted on Behance what seems like a lazy rip-off of the work you've presented here.
Yes, this is a passion project showing designers how to create a brand and packaging from scratch. Passion projects are great for developing your style and adding to your portfolio! I've actually just had a look on Behance and they have ripped off my design not the other way around (they posted that in August 2022 and this brand was created by me on this RU-vid channel in April 2022). I'd never rip anyone's work off, as this would infringe copyright and would be immoral.
Heyyy, I'm so impressed your overall design process. I'm just wondering how to make the 'color palette'. Is there any advise or recommand website to refer?
Thank you 😊 Usually my research during the strategy and mood board stage helps with this, I have a video on my mood board process here:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8mVyBCzdjo8.html
Pretty nice! This brand doesn't actually exist though, does it? I think it would be cool, if you did a video like this with a brand that doesn't match your go to playful swirly style, but rather designing for a high end, straight lines, serious business kind of brand. Even if normally you wouldn't take on such a client - just for fun and learnings! :)
😱 omg it’s my first time watching your video from start to finish….you amazing, like u mighty 😊 I love video so understanding. My subscription wasn’t in vain 😂😅
How long does the entire process normally take? Is it just over the course of a day for you, or do you see this process stretch out longer? Love your videos, thank you for the great content! x
For sure much longer than a day! For a client project normally the whole design process takes around 2 weeks, but it can sometimes be shorter or longer! Appreciate it, thank you 😊
Hi, i have discovered your channel a fews day ago and you have inspired me! Thank you for your videos! Did you use a graphics tablet or the mouse? Thank u, Keep it up!
I love your channel so much and have learned so much from it!! Would love to see a video going over the kinds of questions you ask your clients and/or survey you have them fill out before the first step of mood boarding. Essentially, what was your process with the client that allowed you to create that brief?:) Thank you so much Abi!!!
Aw thank you! So I have a dedicated video on mood boards here that might help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8mVyBCzdjo8.html and I also have a freebie on my website you can download that gives you questions to ask your clients here: www.abiconnick.co.uk/product-page/client-questionnaire hope that helps! 😊💛
Hi Abi ❤️ you are very great at designing and your videos are very informative!! There is something I keep getting stuck at though :( I am great at doing the idea and moodboard process, but when I go to execute the execution skills are just not there and it ends up failing horribly for 30 tries now. Any advice?
Hey👋 Thank you, appreciate it 😊So it sounds like it might just be your skills within the design software you're using e.g Illustrator, If so just aim to get better at doing that, I wold suggest watching this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-91FQKciKfHI.html it really helped me when I was struggling! I'd suggest doing some online courses, and maybe practice at getting better at the tools you use. If you use the pencil tool watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ows4mzaD0hY.html hope this helps 💛
This is great! As someone who decided to become a graphic designer at 36 years of age, I'm unable (unfortunately) to do the full study. So I'm all in to self-study, creative challenges, tutorials and really helpful videos like these. Thank you so much for sharing this! 🙏🏻
Self studying is honestly the way to go, I have learnt so much more from learning myself than I ever did in any apprenticeship or college lesson. Wish you the best on your journey, I'm excited for you!!! Appreciate all the kind words, glad I can be of help!!! 😊
@@abiconnick I disagree with this. Schools and courses have structured contents following a logical order to help assimilate knowledges. This will give students a solid foundation on theorical practique and they will see the benefit in the long run. Self taught is a valid route but you may miss things here and there and you will take more time on googling and tumbling through lessons by yourself.
@@vietfox8916 I think online courses are great, but 'traditional' teaching in design is out dated, and you don't gain any experience, it's all good and well knowing the theory side of design (it has its place) but if you don't know how to put it into action then its redundant. In any case there is no right or wrong way, but she said she is unable to go into full time education because of her situation, so a self taught route would be the better option.
This was incredible, thank you so much for sharing! I kept thinking hmm why does your logo look so familiar.. then I thought Twister ice cream! It's similar to Unilever's Heart logo. Not sure if you took inspo from that or you thought of it on your own, but I admire your creative design process. I use notion a lot, so you've given me a lot to think about in terms of integrating it in my onboarding process. Thanks Abi 🫶🏽
everything you do looks fantastic ahh. i'm watching your videos because i have to create a juice brand packaging for my assignment at uni for strategic branding and you have helped so much xx
I always watch your videos! I'm 17 rn and I really REALLY love graphic designs! I may not good on making Graphic Designs but just watching it and learn from your videos really inspires me to give myself a chance to learn and Design my own. I really wanna study Graphic Designs but I'm still doubtful since I also wanted to take Accountancy cuz it's very needed in my hometown, but my heart really Screams to go for Graphic Designs. I hope 2 years from now I will go back to this comment of mine to see what I really choose
this is great to hear! Glad you've been enjoying the videos, I appreciate the kind words. You have to do what you love otherwise you'll end up with regret and life's too short for that! I wish you all the best 😊
You Could actually do both! There are no limits to learning anything. Since you already lean a little towards graphic design, you could do it as a hobby. Maybe you'll be both a great accountant and a graphic artist. No regrets! All the best! Cheers.
I love the fact that the client doesn’t get to put in their two cents along the way… that always derailed and unnerved me. Do you have any communication with them during the elements and building stage?
So this is just a passion project, if it was for a cleint, I would make them fill out questionnaires and provide me with a Pinterest mood board of styles they like :)
Thank you! No not holding a key, I have a video on pencil tool here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ows4mzaD0hY.html hope that helps :)
Hello! Is Typography not included in a process and is part of a different package? Also, what's your payment system? Is it 50% upfront then 50% once finished or full payment at the end once everything is submitted? Thank you so much for this informative video btw, I took notes from beginning to end
Hi!!! 1st of all I'm Obsessed with your videos! Second, I have a question: when I do design I tend to duplicate and make small changes and I end up with A LOT of variations and I notice that you delete or do the changes onto the same "object". Do you think it's a bad habit by duplicate to make a minimal change or is just a method? Btw: I'm still studying (Sry for my English 😅 and kisses from Portugal 😘)
ahh so glad to hear, thank you :) I think your way of doing it actually makes more sense, I do create loads of concepts, but only present one to the cleint, so they don't feel overwhelmed. Wish you all the best with studying!
