Creating a Clay Signature or Makers-Mark Stamp for Pottery 

This video shows the basics of how to make a signature stamp or a makers-mark stamp in clay. The purpose of these stamps is to press them into soft or leatherhard clay pieces for identification or decoration, or they could also be used for decorative fondant uses in baking. (My daughter makes them for her cakes!) I show how to make a stamp from a cherry tomato sized hunk of clay and how to carve it when leatherhard. We use grogless earthenware, as it is easy to clean and smooth without the grog.
