@@BIGorilla i created the filter panel but once it is hidden the filters reset and the data is not filtered - can you tell me where i have gone wrong please?
@@LadyMoonbugJones have a good look at the bookmark settings. If you go to the settings of the particular bookmark, you can select or deselect the ‘data’ option. In your case you don’t want the data to be impacted by the bookmark. Deselect it and your bookmark will only impact the objects not the data values
Thank you for the video. How can i do, a selection of range of data? For example I want to select all Product name From A to G? In excel I can simply press SHIFT key.. Thank you in advance
Hello my friend, do you have a technique or solution on how to use DAX or any other method using a button to set as a default the first record in a table visual in PBI. I have a table visual with a list of names with a add_date on the first column and want to make sure that when the user opens this page in PBI the first row is selected. I love your clarity and way of explaining things on technical solutions. Hope to hear from you soon
Amazing tutorial! My new Power BI report looks great! I just had a minor problem with mine though. I noticed that once I applied filters to a table and clicked the 'Return' button, the filters are removed again. I believe this is because we bookmarked the page without the filter. Is there a way to keep the filters applied after someone clicks the 'Return' button? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello Rick, thank you for that good explanation and that example. Question:Is there sth against displaying the "blurred background" within group "Filter Pane: Show Slicers"? Advantage: No separate Update-Step needed for the Bookmark. To me there it makes no difference (whenever I want to filter sth the background should be blurred) compared to your extra group for the background. Appreciating your answer. Tom
Hey Tom. Your way makes perfect sense, I would do it that way too. Not sure why I didn't include that in the video. So thanks for adding it 😁 Having said that, I do sometimes have trouble ordering the layers, where the dragging and dropping doesn't work as expected. But that's another topic! Cheers Rick
Thank you for your video. But when I do this, the "group" option for items in Selection pane is greyed out. I cannot group like what you did. Could you please help me to fix it? Thanks
Hey Excellent Very well Explained. But I faced a issue When I Select Filters and Click on above Button to Hide Panel so that I can see the Charts with Applied filter . whole dashboard is reset. is anybody facing this issue ?
Hi, Can I duplicate a whole filter pane with slicers in it to a different tab? without having to recreate all the work? NOTE, the tabs are linked to different dataset tables and have different graphs and tables?
Glad you like it. For multiple pages you can copy-paste the objects of your filter panel. This is easiest in the selection pane. Then on each page you have to configure your bookmarks. So two bookmarks for each page. Then configure the bookmarks to the buttons on the relevant pages
Hello, Thanks for this video. I have a scenario . Can you please help me on that. I have a table with 8 columns . I need to access the table by it's column name. So i need to add the column names as the slicer values. How am I supposed to do that?
Hi, Thank you for the great video! From your experience what are the advantages over the filter pane that you have created compared to what is already available in PowerBI Desktop?
Hi Līga! You're most welcome! You're question is about the advantage of this filter pane over the regular filter pane. How I see it is regular filter pane is not as user friendly. For example: - you can't add multi level hierarchies. - there are a lot of options available (visual, page, report level filters) that can overwhelm - the default filter pane is more difficult to find - does not give an 'app-like' experience - you can't customize it as much as a separate filter pane. In regular filters you can have dropdowns, lists, between panels etc The custom filter pane as in this video, you can more easily customize to for example syncronize with some pages only, and not with others. For example with the first 6, and not with the last 4. This is impossible with the regular filter pane. These are just some examples. Feel free to use them as you feel fit. I hope it helps!
Love hearing that, thanks Andrew! Yes absolutely, this works on published dashboards. In the published environment you can simply click, and in the development area you need to press CTRL+click to have the buttons function correctly. Enjoy 😁 Rick
Hi Rick Very helpfull step by step tutorial! I always try to avoid bookmarks, but have to build a slicer panel as 1 one of the options to choose from, thanks!
When I want to group selections ie Slicer Title and Slicer Box by clicking on the 3 dots, I only get the summarize option (which is also greyed out). What am I doing wrong?
Find the solution. Had to change Options and Settings/Options/Current File/Report Settings and select "Use the modern visual header ....." under Visual Options
