Creating a duplex for the upcoming Sims 4 pack (For Rent) 

Honestly sometimes I’ll download a gorgeous, wonderfully decorated and amazingly built house from the gallery and it’s just a nightmare to actually play/live in. Give me a simple, nice build any day!

Maybe you could build two more buildings on the left side of the lot and then build an shared outdoor area in the middle with drying racks, a place for bicycles, a playground area with monkey bars, and maybe some gardening objects 😄!

20:51 I rather doubt the game will actually only allow duplexes. I think if they are going to the trouble of letting us finally make apartments they will at least allow for four apartments on a lot, so duplexes, townhouses, trailer parks, and at least small apartment buildings will all be possible and other than the duplexes (which by definition is two), all the others will be able to have more than two (duplexes, too, but that makes them not a duplex any more). We will most likely know more soon.

Where I live, a duplex is like two houses on top of one another. And a triplex is two homes on top of a third, but, it may also be three stacked ones. Two side by side, with one being the mirror if the other, are called twin houses. For the attic. Just throw some clutter in front of the couch and chair so that the Sims can't use them. After all, that's not intended as a functional room...

20:00 in ts2 you could have a garden as long as it was closed off (exactly how you made yours) so i hope its gonna work the same way

20:03 Obviously I have no real idea what they are doing, but in TS2, in order to have your own backyard it had to be fenced in with no gate only a door into the “apartment” your sim owned. I would like to see them use locks to define each apartments or a special “foundation” where you layout what belongs to each sim (sort of make your own lots within lots). The former seems more likely, but the latter would give way more freedom, especially if you could make these “foundations” in basements, on second stories, and such . Not every yard is fenced in, but they do still have boundaries and usually neighbors generally know where the boundary of their land with their neighbors is.

Don't know what you mean r.e. one up one down being more common - semi-detached houses are everywhere in the suburbs of most of the cities I've been in in the UK except London (where even there they are common in the very outer sprawl, it's just the closer you get to the centre the denser you get, and that's where you get one up one down

When this pack releases, I might build a duplex, create a werewolf family, create a vampire family, move them into the duplex and let the chaos and mayhem begin.

I like how duplexes are called in Dutch. It’s twee-onder-een-kapwoning, which roughly translates to two under one roof homes. It sounds so cute to me. I hate the houses irl tho 😂

Do we think that if we can have two families on one lot that means we'll be able to have 16 sims on a lot? Or just 4 sims per family max. Or 8 in total over two families? I'd love to be able to have 2 families of 8 but I'm betting we get bare minimum as usual so just 8 sims then

Lol I live in a duplex - I just didn't know it's called this in English 😂 I was thinking it's like "twin house" or something. It's one building, usually with two identical halves, side by side, with separate entry and garden. Mine isn't nice looking it's just giant cube 💀 I still love it, but I would prefer a house not shared with my neighbours wall by wall and garden all around.

Ahhh, I didn't know there was actually a difference in duplex and semi-detached. Semi's are two lots which are connected by a wall, and a duplex are one lot with two septate dwellings. I just thought duplex was the word American's used for Semi's 😂

I don't care for duplexes irl but in sims it's a smart game play move. As in easy to code and interesting for the community. What I'm hoping for in this addon is a map with a many lots and interactable objects that do not break the game. Would love to get a new craft table or moodlets and a new job for base game no purchases required. Another interactable for dogs, cats, and kids would be neato. Jobs, crafting tables, kids and pet objects that enhance learning, and mood enhancing objects I love. What I do not want for ts4 - I hate cars they are pointless. Books are broken in my game sims stopped being able to read them so I hate stuff book related. I'm glad ts4 isn't getting trashed to move on to Renee or w/e it's called (ts5). I think ts4 is finally shaping up to be best compromise between gamers and game corp. Projection that ts4 will be the longest living sims game in history outlasting the others.

The sims team needs to add better hair for male sims, i tried to make Adam Lambert and made his face and i have the perfect outfit for him,but his amazing hair isnt in the game, so frustrating
