Really enjoy your videos. What I enjoy the most is that you and Rebekah are real people that treat your farm and animals with kindness and respect. Additionally you are not like so many others that seem like actors. I watch you two and Pete from Just a few acres every video. Be safe. Happy Thanksgiving. Till next time..

Keeping fence lines clear is a full time job. I think the best I ever saw was my stepgrandfather. He did it all by hand with a scythe, an axe and crosscut saw, but his fences were always immaculate. He sharectpped by some arrangement so farming was his full time job. We weren't close but he was the only grandfather I ever knew. Good memories.

It looks great where you cleaned it up and mowed the fence lines. It will make it all much easier to keep mowed after you pull out all the old rusty barbwire fence laying on the ground. Its nothing but a tripping hazzard.

How exciting that you will have another 12 acres of pasture! Are you planning to subdivide the 12 acres into four 3 acre paddocks so you can rotationally graze your beef cattle? Maybe use the boundary that is closest to the farm buildings and set up a common area with a shelter and water, then run 3 radial fences which will give you 4 approximately 3 acre pastures? Something to think about. 👍

Once you have removed the old fence along the driveway and before you install the new one, you might want to fill and grade the edge of the field and the ditch. That would make installing the new fence and mowing much easier.

Evan, you need an old school Bachtold weed mower. They were originally made in Forrest Illinois , changed the name to R D something, they are a walk behind self driven machine with I think 30 inch cut and 8 hp horizontal shaft motor. They can cut up to a 2 1/2 inch tree / brush. Handy for electric fence areas and all of the above you show in this video plus will be ideal for inclines like your wash out.

In the UK we used laid hedges for millenia. Of course they need regular maintenance so farmers started using wire fencing which does not last and is easier for livestock to break loose from.

JudithB We got a 15# turkey for Thanksgiving since the original nose count was 4 people, and now up to 9!! I have lots of pints of turkey canned from past holidays, and dont want to fill all my jars with more! Probably give leftovers to my granddaughter. Will probably get some big turkeys on sale to put in the new freezer. Fence lines are slow work even with your equipment, but they are really looking good. Gaining all that new pasture will be super too!!! Have a happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Ripping out fence lines is never an easy or pleasant job. However it is very visually rewarding once completed. I bet you are enjoying finally having access to your additional land. Hopefully there is not too many rocks & other hidden objects in this field. I like your plan of waiting until after it snows to burn the huge brush piles. Much safer, and a great way to warm up a cold winter day. I am wondering if there is such a thing as turkey jerky? It would be something else to add to your already extensive turkey menu options. 😂 I wish you & yours a very happy & blessed Thanksgiving!

I suggest what you mnight consider doing is using a plow on that waste land. If you just knock it down, it will be growing back, hale and hearty, immediately. If you plow it up, you will disrupt the roots and root balls and have a good chance of interrupting it growing back a good deal. There was, you know, a REASON for plowing up land! I suggest this is one of those times.

Looking good Evan. Consider getting a rock bit for your post hole auger if the ground is a bit hard. The one we have at work was only a few dollars more than the standard bit and powers through our dry clay and hard gravel and if you happen to hit a rock, just drill straight through it.

Also, you can weld a couple pieces of pipe on to your digger and use a pipe as a cheater to put more pressure on auger while it is digging.
