Welcome! Join me as I demonstrate how to refine a landscape using everyday household tools, a metal ruler and a palette knife. I've incorporated unconventional items such as a screwdriver, an old knitting needle, a bone folder, and a paring knife to create textures and depth. This technique, known as sgraffito, involves removing pigment to reveal underlying layers. After selectively removing areas, I applied light-colored oil pastels to bring painterly effects and soften the view.
Prior to this video, I applied a wash of Golden Acrylic Paint in three colors. Next, I used rich, soft Sennelier Oil Pastels to introduce abstract shapes. For finer details, I employed Faber-Castell Creative Studio Oil Pastel Crayons, known for their harder consistency as compared to Sennelier Oil Pastels. I'm working on a sheet of 11 x 14 Canson XL paper for Acrylic and oil.
This artwork is still evolving. Thank you for joining me on this creative journey!
