If you’re adding data that has categories, like transactional data that has product names or months or locations, Excel can create subtotals of those categories. You don’t have to write any formulas, it works the same way in Windows and Mac, and the feature has been around for many versions, so you probably have it available. In this episode we see how to do it, and also use the Text function to extract month names from dates.
