Build and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job lot of maximum security prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus. As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads the fun can really start.
You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh, and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1 million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best lock-em-up.
Story Mode:
Prison Architect opens with the story of Edward, a man facing the electric chair for committing a crime of passion. This is followed by four additional chapters focusing on different characters and aspects of prison life. From Mafia Dons to power-crazed senators, Prison Architect has them all! To bring these characters to life, Introversion teamed up with award winning professional writer Chris Hastings, producing an enthralling tale of corruption and human misery set against the background of the modern prison industrial complex.
Escape Mode:
Finished your supermax? Got guard dogs roving every corridor and prisoners eating out of your hand? Now you can live the horror by firing up escape mode and play as a prisoner hell-bent on getting the hell out of dodge.
Dig a tunnel, go for the armoury or start a riot and slip out in the chaos, it’s entirely up to you! Figure out how to escape from your own creation, or hit the random button and load one of the 12,000 prisons created by the steam community, whichever you choose it’s not going to be easy...

You could use half of the deathrow island for supermax/max sec cells in the event an inmate passes deathrow parole. They'll need a cell to serve out the rest of their sentence

i love how the island looks like a smile. very ironic for a prison. (also i quite like the line tiles)

20:15 i like the lined tiles like this, but i would use a different color flooring for the center row where the guard patrols will be set.

You could add a staff bridge (or just modify the terrain to create a bridge) between the two islands on the left, so staff can move around more efficiently

As someone already pointed out, you could use it for max/super max, but if you find you still have too much room, you could use the land maybe instead for things like green power to sell or having things like farming your own crops for fresh food or chopping down trees for extra money.

14:30 that area at the bottom could be a long thin yard.
@Carter-dv4hz

I would make the "Yard" the area outside the cells, when prisoners come out of cells they go straight into the yard. It is 3 tiles wide so you can fit equipment and phones in that area.

You should include a lot of landscaping in this prison! Especially in the unbuilt areas of the island, but also a lot of plants bushes and trees within the facility would be very nice looking, and realistically could be calming for the inmates❤

Call it Cider (CI DR) Prison

Criminally insane inmates cannot work or be put in solitary confinement. You are building a secure hospital. They need calming programmes and areas to be in for free time which aren't too crowded. I would suggest being generous with the sizes of the yard, canteen and common room

Then why does the "Padded Solitary Cell" exist, if not for criminally insane inmates?

you could do parole at the bottom, if you just make the wall down 1 tile, then it'll fit!

You could add an infirmary for staff in the death row as well.
@Bart230

You need room for the inmates that recieve clemency, so that should go next to / together with death row.

It might be more efficient to have the treatment areas towards the right side because that has easier staff access.

Probably would be a smart idea to keep some max or high sec cells around for if a death row prisoner passes their appeal.

Could possibly use bridges to allow staff get from each island more quickly.

I know this is a weird one, but this seems like a nice facility for Prisoner Transfer. Hear me out! You already will have lots of underutilized staff & facilities. Many of these will be underutilized because you won't have the sheer mass of inmates you normally do. These underutilized specialized staff & facilities seem ideal for the Legendary prisoners you'll get. After all, why have 5-10 guards for only 2 Death Row inmates? Better to give them something else to do too!

Sorry, you already claimed Australia in the past. Cannot have a second, single larger island for the same purpose. Generic historically accurate comment points, please?

Generic idea. What about putting a kitchen in the deathrow area to take up some space. Keep the cooks from having to walk all the way around. Wouldn't take up all the space but might spark a idea.
