Creating Custom Resin Dice for Dungeons & Dragons

Oh I have multiple mold sets now! This was literally my first set which is why at the time I didn't have extras.

It's so much fun! You should check out the second video, and stay tuned for a big update to the process that I've been working on!

You would still wait the full cure time of the resin you are using regardless of the pressure pot or not.

That might just be an improper mix. Normally if you don't see things cure in 2-3 times the listed cure time, it's not going to finish, sorry =[ I did just recently try this again with Sorta Clear 37, which I'm working on a part 3 to this series to document- I should have a video in another week or so!

I’ve been so hesitant to try this but seeing someone else replicate his results gives me hope that I can do it too.

We all have those days! I am working on a more 'me' version of the molds that should work nicely as well and provide some more examples of ways to make it work well- I have a couple videos in the pipeline first and I'm waiting on new custom printed masters, but when it's out I will ping you back for even more examples!

They look great, by the way. I recently found Rybonator's videos and am getting ready to do the same thing lol. I've worked a lot with resin in the past for jewelry and other projects, but I've never made my own molds or dice before. I'm going to make an attempt on the snowglobe dice (definitely using a pressure pot, though). These look fantastic for a first-ish attempt and I actually think the bubbles give them character. If you keep your bottles of resin in some warm water (a lot of people use a crock pot with water in it on low) for a couple of hours before pouring it will make it runnier and will make the bubbles dissipate easier. Then with just a few taps it's usually enough to get most of them out. Some people will also use a heat gun instead (or in addition to) of the water thing. So if bubbles are ever an issue and you still don't want to deal with a pressure pot, that might help. :D

@Michael Makes I just got my pressure pot and vacuum chamber. My molds were getting bubbles :/ but I’m perfecting the snowglobe dice at this moment :D I love them! I am using “invisible” clear elastic string (like they use in bracelets) to suspend them in the center of the dice and I’ve made my own alcohol inks with sharpies and rubbing alcohol. So far so good, except for those bubbles. To the pressure pot!

I so need to try making the snow globe dice... so awesome looking! I have been focusing on better molds and getting custom 3d printed masters with my own font & logo, which has been so exciting!

@Michael Makes So, one thing I’m running into with the snowglobe dice: keeping the globe centered. So, I’ve been making 25mm (as opposed to standard 16mm) d20s. Even though I’m dangling the globe in there to keep it centered with elastic string, they keep moving on me. I think I need to use bigger globes. I’ve been using 16mm globes, but I’m going to try 20mm ones and see if that doesn’t fix the problem. I’m also experimenting with tiny corked bottles filled with red and blue resin as health and mana potions! And I’ve found Hemway ultra sparkle glitter (microfine) that looks AMAZING in the resin without cluttering it up. It doesn’t work in the globes, though...mica is still the best I’ve found for in the globes. Looking forward to seeing what’s next with your dice!

Or a pressure chamber. Rhybonator came to the conclusing to be the only sure-fire way to get rid of them after several experiments. Michael seems to be following Rhybonators process mostly anyway, so he probably has one already. Dice pics on the shop look nice and bubble free! :)

Good eye! I am following along on those tutorials and building my own process out from there- working on another video on the topic for two color, layered, and pressure-cured dice now!
