Hello! Thanks for this very helpful video-however, my EOS R also states my first image as "unselectable" --I have read multiple comments on various platforms about this and don't understand. I shot the image in RAW, HTP (highlight tone priority) was not enabled when the photo was taken, and the lens I used for the unselectable image is the same lens I am using to shoot double exposures in camera today. I just want to use an image I took yesterday as my base image :(

This is a great question and sometimes you need to change some settings. Try only shooting in full frame, not 1:1 or 16:9. Also, turning off highlight tone priority and shooting in full raw might help too.

Great vid :) Just one question: On my R the button for 'Select image for multi. expo.' is off (grey). Can you tell me why ?

Make certain that disable is not selected and select On:Func/Ctrl. This should enable Select Image

It may not work with your lens that’s attached to the camera, there could be other things as well

Good video. Btw, audacity, fantastic, FREE software for your audio editing. It can really do a lot easily, like editing out background noise. Making everything uniform volume at cetera. Really good. Just a tip. Thanks for the information on double exposure. Honestly do a bit more in your videos

In general, I stick with additive for the best results in camera, however, here is an explanation: Additive - The exposure of each image is added cumulatively. You have to adjust exposure compensation based on the number of images. * Average - No compensation is needed as the camera determines the proper exposure for each image based on the number of shots taken. * Bright / Dark - The brightness or darkness of the base image and subsequent images are compared and the bright or dark area will be left the same.

Kency Ting Awesome!!! I’d love to see what you created!!! From what I know, the ISO held constant once the first image is selected but you could try the shutter speed and the aperture by clicking the info button to adjust the light.

Can you please clarify what exactly happened when you select different options for "Multi-excos ctrl": Additive, Average, Bright, Dark. First one is kind of self-explanatory. I am trying to understand differences between Average, Bright and Dark. Thank you.

Additive and average are fairly similar with additive increasing the exposure on the second image, relative to the first and average will auto expose the second image in order to not overexposed the image. Bright gives preference to the bright areas and retains their brightness and does not make the overlapping image brighter. Dark keeps its brightness for the dark area of the first image and the second image will not increase in brightness more than the original image. That’s a lot of info, not sure I was completely clear but I will definitely make a video when I get a chance with samples.

An alternative would be be to use an editing software to manipulate the images instead of in camera.

Hi, great video but I am having problems with the option to select an image from the card. I get a message 'no compatible images' when I select that option. I have looked at the manual in detail and as suggested I have turned off Highlight Tone Priority and I have it set on Full Frame, still doesn't work. I have a canon EF lens and an adapter on my EOS RF, would that be the problem? The other ME settings work fine.

Sorry you are having this problem. What EF lens are you using? Some lenses are not compatible.

I have the canon r7 . I don’t have image save option . Does that mean I can’t choose any picture I want to do an overlay on ? Also, I tried to do the multiple exposure trick while you have the same person standing side-by-side, but one of them was upside down and I practised this by having my subject stand against a brick wall when I did the shot, my subject was transparent, you can see the bricks through his face & body The upside down image still turned out fine, but I could see through him with all the bricks.😂 please help

If it’s like most of the other R series cameras it should have the select first image as an option. I’m not certain why it wouldn’t. Perhaps try a different blending mode to get the desired outcome. The four blending modes are additive, dark, average and bright.

⁠@@pablodiazphotographyjust found out I have to select jpeg in order to choose an image stored on the camera . All I have is raw as only one card is in there right now which is why o couldn’t select any an image I wanted to.

I think this camera is also known as the Rebel T 4i, which unfortunately does not have the multiple exposure feature..
