Here I was thinking I had to prepare multiple rigs with different bone counts. Never occurred to me all I had to do was click few buttons and unreal would take care of it. Thanks for this video.

You used to have to do it that way unless you paid for Simplygon. LODing skelmeshes is a fairly recent feature but it works great and is a huge time-saver.

ditto... absolutely blown away. I was going down the rabbit hole in blender, learning about multiple ways to deform meshes and rejoin the assets to export as one FBX into UE4... this is simply amazing.

Great video. Is there a tutorial on how to add blend shapes facial animation to paragon assets?

Most of my player blueprints don't have LODs active even though if I place the same skeletal mesh in world it works. They just stay on LOD 0. Any ideas?
@SpectralInkProductions
@SpectralInkProductions 2 года назад
I'd have to look at your setup, but LOD's should be on the skel mesh and enabled by default. You'd have to turn them off in the bp. Check the Level Of Detail section on your blueprint for the skel mesh component.

Hey on my end i cant modify the lod infos like screensize etc its greyed out do you have any ideas why ?
@SpectralInkProductions
@SpectralInkProductions 2 года назад
Without more information I can only guess. However, the one thing I know that would grey out the reduction settings would bebif you had a lod reductions setting file loaded in. I believe I covered this in the tutorial, but its a file where all your reduction settings are stored so you can quickly apply then to other meshea. If that is the case, you would either have to unlink it from your skel mesh or edit the setting file itself.

but what if I have morph targets on skeletal mesh....
@SpectralInkProductions
@SpectralInkProductions 2 года назад
You can set which LOD's will recieve morph targets, then they will be transfered and preserved
@SpectralInkProductions

It's mentioned in the video at about 9:51

@@SpectralInkProductions it does not work. i tried to generate lods in unreal, morph targets don't work on other lods. i tried to import the hierarchy from Maya of lod 0 and 1, and in unreal there is no lods which I exported but there is morph target. i tried export separately lod0 and import lod1 to it - somehow lod 1 imports as lod 0 and the number of tris does not change....
@SpectralInkProductions
@SpectralInkProductions 2 года назад
@@dl6078 did you import the morph targets in your initial lod 0? did you set the transfer morph target flag on your reduction settings? it will not transfer morph targets by default, you have to enable it. DM me an email and I can try to walk you through it.
@dl6078
@dl6078 2 года назад
@@SpectralInkProductions I tried both ways: to import lod0 and then to add my lod1 to it and to activate flag remap morph target, and it didn’t work. Also I tried to generate other lods from lod0 with the same flag remap morph target - also didn’t work … :(
