A few weeks ago, I did a trip to Michaels and noticed that there were a TON of craft cart accessories that I had never seen before. Several of my amazing subscribers requested that I film a video about how to set up a craft cart. Challenge accepted! I bought EVERY SINGLE cart accessory I could find and went to work putting together the ultimate craft cart. Everything is linked below!

Dollar Tree pegboard hooks and shelves (the mini one) work well on this pegboard. They are super secure and eliminate the rattling sound.

I could imagine using a little hot glue to secure the hooks in place too, if your set up is relatively stable and unchanging.

I found a mesh cart with four baskets or shelves for five dollars. I got two cooling racks for cakes at dollar tree and used zip ties to attach one to each side to hang stuff with S hooks. I might put another one on the back. I have some bins in there that I already had. It's hard to believe how much it hold. I haven't decided exactly what to put in it and how to arrange it all. I think the whole thing might end up being about 15$. I'm so happy to have a cart!!

Your cart bought in the US looks just like mine bought in the UK. I have 2. And I'm not happy with them. For me they seemed like a great storage solution: buckets to hang on the outside, storage for paper rolls on the ends, a short narrow tray to hang on the side of an internal tray etc etc. So I very happily began taking my paints out of storage boxes and into the two trolleys. For the first few days all went well... Then later I realised that one trolley was tilted over to one side and discovered that the wheels, not being directly under the trolley were bowing outwards and so were the two vertical rods that join the 3 main baskets together. I temporarily put a cable tie around the rods at the base, bringing them back into alignment, but even that did not last - so I had to sacrifice 3 or 4 big books to support the bottom basket, thus taking the strain off the rods and wheels. This did work... up to a point!I But the trolley is no longer moveable. Plus I recently discovered that the 2nd trolley is doing the same thing. These trolleys are a great idea but not all that practical a design. I need a welder to fix them. So, only put a very few and very LIGHTWEIGHT things in them. Or weld them. Have fun with yours. I wish I could have a craft room as big and nice as yours.

I agree, you most definitely can not weigh them down at all or they will start to bend.

I have had three of the Lexington Carts for a couple of years. I suggest putting one pegboard on each side, one at top and the other at bottom. Otherwise, you can't access the lower trays from the pegboard side. Also, the solid pegboards block the light and it can be hard to see clearly. I have never purchased the top as i store many tall items in the top. You probably couldn't see it, but with the add-ons the top was not level and would not make a good working surface. I find the carts very useful, but you need to be careful or you could end up with a troop of them!

I have a cart from Amazon that includes many of those features…peg board, bins, and hanger. I have washi on the hanger, but I hardly ever use that washi because inevitably I need the roll of washi that is in the middle, which means I have to take off all the ones in the way. I need the whole roll or else I end up with a tangled mess of tape. Probably not a big deal for most people, but it’s one more step that my ADHD brain hates. 😂

Great video over all! 😊 There is also a handle fir the cart which is part of the Tidy collection, as well. It’s about $10.00. I found it very helpful in moving my craft cart easier. It only comes in white but could be painted. Also, the IKEA cart cup holders work well on the Michaels cart. I have two of the Lexington Carts: Lavender - for my Bible Study, essential oils and wax melts for my humidifier and wax warmers. Light Pink - for all my Wood Crafting items (wood tower blocks, wood planks, chip board cut-out pieces, wood signs, dowels, popsicle sticks, wood decor, etc.) and Wood Tools and Accessories (wood glue, wood files, sand paper, etc.). Also check out your local Dollar Stores or Hardware Stores for other items you can use as accessories to trick out your craft cart. I found a decorative wall mounting bar with hooks which sticks to your cart to hang accessories. 🤔Think outside the box. Hope this is helpful. 😊

I use the tall rolling shelf unit from Michael's filled with 12x12 project cases for my Cricut supply storage. The vinyl and iron on gets cut into 12x12 sheets. They're easier to store and sort that way. I keep all of my scraps and use transfer tape to piece together the scraps as needed, and I have very little waste.

Great topic! Yes...I finally gave in and bought a cart about 6 mos ago. Then I got another larger one with some drawers and larger open shelving and with a fold out extension to use (the extension) as needed. They are very handy. The one thing that I realized that is THE MOST USEFUL THING in any sort of creative space or office space where you may have little room, is to make sure your storage and organizing furniture, including carts or anything made to sit on the floor are on rollers/wheels. This means I can put a cart in a certain spot and easily move it when I may need to get to whatever it may be blocking.I guess this sort of like double parking, 😅but it gives me more options and makes my limited space more functional.

I love this set up! My craft room is only 9x9 so I don't have room for another cart. The only one I have I use for December Daily. I roll it out and load it up in October when the supplies arrive, keep it out thru December, then roll it back in the closet for the next year! They really are a great thing to have if you are in a small place. I originally got one when we were transferred up to DC and living in a 997 sqft apartment. That cart was pretty much all the space I had. Once back in Texas I had room to spread out since the kids are now "Grown & Flown!"

I appreciate your video! Initially I struggled with how to use my carts. I have the Grammercy cart from Michaels, so it came with some accessories. I found several uses for the washi roll holder. I have attached mine to the wall, I have also hung it over a cabinet door or a deeper desk drawer. I have also stored ribbon on mine. I have found that I take the whole bar off if I want to pull something off and I can choose either side to access. I had no idea that the bins hooked onto the cart so nicely, and also the bin dividers do hook in really nice!

I would replace the washi with rolls of aluminum foil, plastic wrap, waxed paper, and parchment paper. I could put all of my washi on the remaining tier! I don't have a cart like this but I do have a huge stainless steel cart that holds my Cricut Maker, Scan N Cut, all of my machine embroidery thread, fabric scrap bins, single tipped markers, and more. I engineered a pull out platform for my Scan N Cut (so I can get my 69 year old eyes close enough to the screen) and zip tied a scrap of vinyl lattice to one end to serve as a quasi peg board using common S hooks. A paper towel holder balances over one handle and is made with a dowel and 2 wooden beads. All three shelves (except the area under the pull out platform) have Dollar Tree foam core board laid in so small objects can't fall through the grid. My cart works very well and makes it possible to reconfigure my room for access to my sewing, paper crafting, or home office "stations". Wheels/casters make my smallish craft room meet my needs fairly well.

Foam core board! Excellent idea! I have multiple pets, so there are many things I have to store in closed containers or behind doors to keep hair off them. Using the foam board on the bottom, and using a topper for the lower tiers, opens up the possibilities for what I could store there.

You can buy the pegs from dollar tree to this pegboard that is more secure. the hanger is for the transfer tape on the vinyl, washi and paper towels maybe. I like your idea of securing it to the wall or the side of the Kallex unit. I use the topper on one of mine for the Spellbinder machine, next layer my plates for my machine, and on the bottom is my embossing folders, yes I do have that many folders lol. I have another where I put my tools that I use often with a pot separator rack, I put my Martha Stewart large score board, my Tim Holtz stamping platform, we are memory small chopper, we are memory laser platform, a we are memory envelope maker, and finally a Fiskars slim guide cutter, all fit in the top, second level is my glue gun, and sticks some pen holders and scissors I used repurpose cans, bottom are containers with odds and ends. I also use the cart hanger my for ribbons. I can only use 2 to 3 of the hangers because of the size of ribbon. The cart hangers can attach to the or i used metal shower curtain hooks and attached them to the shelving inside the closet.

The result is so workable. Love it.I’m a bit jealous, because I’m from Belgium and all those planning related things, they all come from América. A lot of things from the happy planner, we can’t find it here. And than all the discounts you find. I have the impression no one have to buy things at full prices. America is the promissed land for planners 😂😂😂 Love your video, love them all!

The only thing I would buy are the containers for the side. I would buy bins for notions on the top, the bottom would hold some of my fabric while other fabric would be in larger plastic bins. The middle section would also have bins for scissors, different feet, marker pencils etc.

Love that you created a planner cart! I have two of these carts and love them! One I use for my current projects and feel like it is going to become my planner cart now. :) My other one is my die cutting station - my Big Kick sits on top and all my dies and embossing folders are on the bottom two shelves. I have been using this for years and am so impressed with how it has held up. Thanks for sharing this great video!

I have 4 carts all "tricked out", LOL! 3 of them are the Michaels Lexington carts, with toppers on 2 of them, and 1 of them is the Michaels Gramercy cart. Out of all my carts, my favorite one is the Gramercy because it comes with a lot of the things you bought separately, like the pegboard rack for the side of the cart, a metal hanging container, washi rack, vinyl rack, 4 sets of hook style hangers, 4 hooks on each of the four sets for the pegboard and all the accessories are metal. I also bought the paper towel roll hanger and I REALLY use the heck out of it. Also bought the plastic cup style holders when Dollar Tree had their pegboard systems and they fit the Gramercy pegboard PERFECTLY. The Gramercy cart, I think goes on sale from time to time for $39.00, the regular price is $49.00. I got mine second hand for $30.00. These craft carts have been a game changer for me. I love how everything I use I can roll it right up to my desk and craft away and not have to get up and search for stuff. When finished, roll it away, pull up another cart and go! These have been a MAJOR craft storage must have for me. I really enjoyed your video. It's fun to see how you set up your cart! Thanks!

To make the wooden top more secure drill a couple of holes in the side of the bin and screw the roll/tape holder to the side with a machine screw and washer and nut.

I think this would be a good for my Mom…. She is a card maker, and can no longer use the stairs to get to the area she and my sister crafted in together. This cart could just be rolled to kitchen table where she works now, and then pushed aside when table was needed for meals…

I have some of these things but not all. My cart holds my watercolor paint tins and related stuff. I have the pegboards and have one half on each side of the cart, and have hung Cricut mats on one side and various rulers on the other side. I use the pencil cups too, hung on the top tray. I want to get the cup with dividers. And maybe those tray dividers. I rejected the holder you used for washi tape but I think I want it now. Any of these pegboard hanging items would work on pegboard attached to a wall, too, which I’m planning to get soon. Thank you for the “show and tell”- it gave me ideas for better use of what I have, as well as ideas for what would truly be practical.
