We have got to get more videos on here! I teach in Shanghai at a kindergarten and all of the tips I have gotten here have been a huge success in my classroom! It makes the entire energy in the classroom fun and lighter. Thank you for your experience and enthusiasm!
Nice ideas! We are doing the pom-pom jar in my Pre-K classroom this year and the kids love it. I think it does help. 👍 I like the little smiley face and chapstick ideas too. 🙂 Sometimes I give extra high fives to the really good listeners... I just remembered now that last year someone donated us "social distance" hands... they are garden gloves with stuffing inside and they're sewn shut. If the kids were listening well at circle time, they were given a pat on the back or a high five with either an orange glove or a pink glove! They really enjoyed it and were proud of themselves! Ok I should get those gloves back out after spring break! 😄😁
5:44 Just a quick thing with the group reward. For all the experienced teachers, you probably know this already... *DO NO REMOVE POMPOMS FOR POOR BEHAVIOR! THE KIDS EARNED THEM!*
We add Tootsie Rolls to a tall clear container and earn a "Tootsie Party" once the candy reaches the line I drew on the jar! A Tootsie Party is an ice cream sundae selection and we divide the tootsies up to eat or end home! This encourages working towards good behavior as a team! 👍🏼😉
I put my students faces on runners and move them along a running track on the wall. The idea is they are all running the race and on track to do a great job. I use the phrase, "full control equals full power" and "when you're controlled and doing you're best, you're strong and you can be free to do what you want." On that, I always have tons of play based extension tasks such as book making, writing letters, phonics or math games, activity books I've made relating to units of inquiry we are learning about, or something fun related to learning. I tell students, when you're on track, you finish the race and enjoy freedom, but if you struggle, I can give you more support to catch up, but everyone likes to be free way more
Bitter sweet. I'll be teaching grade 2 next year rather than kindergarten. I've loved teaching it the past 4 years though. I truly believe it's the ideal age to completely change their perception on school, creativity, friendships, and general self efficacy. I've also grown to love working with parents and helping them navigate as a parent of two children myself. I could totally see myself going back to Kindy one day. But your videos have been invaluable. Thank you for your passion and generosity in sharing so freely! :)
@@positivepreschooltips it's funny how I've just leaned into just giving dad advice that I use on my own kids. My biggest goal is to give my children independence, but that has really transferred onto my students now too. The thing is, everyone wants to be empowered, but they need steps and someone to believe in them
