Great shots and storytelling! And few words from a mathematician: Phi is not 1.618. It is 1.618... . Three dots, but huge difference - Phi is irrational. :) It is also not the Fibonacci sequence, but rather a limit of another ratio with successive Fibonacci numbers. Golden ratio did not lose its popularity after da Vinci times. In fact it was not until XIXth century when the term "Golden Ratio" was used for the first time. Before, it was known as Divina Proportione, thanks to Luca Pacioli. And since XIXth century it became more and more popular. In fact the only great artists, that we know for sure, that they used Golden Ratio, lived in... XXth century. Salvador Dali makes a good example. :) While it is true, that the Phi is a cultural phenomenon, most of these "aesthetical properties" are modern myths and scientific misconseptions (and so is Da Vinci's Code - an intruguing fantasy).
